University literature depts. tend to underrate Poe. . .he actually wrote some sonnets as well as the dark gothic stories. . .led a sad and depressed life. . .certainly fascinating because he is the grandfather of horror lit.

I have often wondered what really went on in that mind of his! I wonder if his real life was as morbid as the stories he told.

The Stephen King of his day. Quite dark and troubled. I don't know a lot about his private life, but I've read his poems and they are oddly fascinating.
