I agree with all of the reviews. They always have city cash that they give away if you spend a certain amount. When I spent several hundred to get city cash, I had missed the redemption date because I had gotten sick. When I asked one of their associates if I could redeem the cash, and explained the situation to her, she said no, and walked away. Great Customer Service! I work in customer service and know there is always something that can be done, and I've heard from numerous people thanking telling me they will return to my business. I've spent thousand of dollars on their clothes for amost 6 years now, and they can't honor $75 bucks worth of promotional coupons??? Good thing they know fashion, cause they don't know jack about taking care of their customers. Okay New York and Company, you just lost a very loyal customer of yours for a lifetime, why don't you add that up! :)

It is hit and miss at our local New York & Co. store in Greenville, SC. After having our first baby, I managed to get back down to my pre baby weight, but not my pre baby shape...so my old jeans just didn't fit. I tried NY&C's petite flare trouser jeans and they were IDEAL! So when they had a pants sale, I went in intending to buy 1-2 more pairs as extras. They were completely out of my size, so I tracked the store for an available associate (it took forever). In such a busy store, there were only 2 associates working, both at the checkout with long lines. I waited in line, then, and when I got to the older associate working the register, I asked if they had more sizes available in those jeans. SHE ROLLED HER EYES AT ME!! I couldn't believe it. she rolled her eyes and beckoned me to step aside and motioned forward the next customer to check out. I was appalled. There were no other associates to help me with this issue, so I waited like everyone else and was motioned to st... Read more

The customer service is horrible. I have been shopping for years at this store. I finally had enough with bad customer service on the phone & in store. I canceled my credit card along with my friends. We decieded in this economy we will stick to stores that care about their customers.

I would give NY&Co a 0 if possible. They charged me charged me $15 on shipping even when I already cancelled the order. I called and basically got "there's nothing we can do, it's policy" What a damn rip off company. I'm never shopping there again.

This company is horrible to deal with and their business practices are borderline fraudulent. I placed an online order that included a $60 discount with a $125 order. NY&Co sent me an email that canceled my order because they said they could not get credit card approval. I called my credit card issuer, who said they were never contacted by NY&Co to get any approval for any amount. When I called NY&Co they said they could now get approval, but they would not honor the $60 discount. The customer service rep said she could charge the entire amount to my credit card and "apply" for the $60 discount. Based on the other online reviews, I should probably be grateful that my order never went through and I don't have to deal with this terrible company again.

New York & Co has a terrible return policy, especially on Christmas merchandise. You have 60 days to return an item. You cannot even "even exchange" an item for size after 60 days without paying the difference in price. When Christmas shopping begins in October, 60 days is not enough of a return policy time. Their customer service department is very unsympathetic to the consumer needs. They are like machines with just standard answers - no flexibility. Too bad! For a $60.00 return, they hundreds of dollars in future business from myself, family and friends.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE... online ordering has particularly given me a headache! Avoid it! I've ordered online twice. The first time I purchased over $250 and received confirmation of my order. Several days later, I call because my order hasn't been shipped only to find out that there was no record of my order in their system at all even though I had an email from them confirming it - order number and all. The second and final time I will ever order from them, I took extra care to type in my shipping address, marked the same as billing address button, and checked to make sure it was correct before placing it. The next day I looked over my confirmation from them and my shipping address was changed to my old apartment I had used in the first order I placed - the apartment is 4 hours away from where I live now. There online ordering system has glitches, so I would not trust it. So I called before 9 am the morning after I placed my order (which was late at night), and customer service cl... Read more

I used to love shopping at New York and Company. I never had any trouble with the customer service or the look of the stores. When I shopped there, I would come out with dozens of outfits to mix and match. NY & C always had the nicest work clothes for me. Not too revealing but still stylish and expensive looking. Now, I have all but stopped shopping there because I can never find any pretty clothes any more. The prices aren't bad, the web site is easy to use, but the clothes are ugly. It seems like they are trying to be too trendy and not sensible with their fashions any more. I guess I am better off shopping at a department store that has classy looking clothing for young professionals. I would like to see NY & Co start getting back some classy clothing. Now all I see are t-shirts with necklaces printed on them, and skirts that would fit an 8 year old.

I had been a loyal company of New York & Company until I purchased 3 dress shirts and decided to return them... I stood in a long line for the return... the return supposedly took place and I was provided with a receipt showing a return credit, but when I checked my bank statement online, the credit was showing as a debit... causing me to be charged twice for the same items I returned... so, I didn't have the merchandise and I paid for them twice... I attempted to contact the store I made the purchase and return at (iPremier Outlet in Orlando) and explained that I did not live there, I was just there for the weekend... the associate told me I could take the receipts and bank statement to a local store and they would be able to credit me. When I went to the local store they stated they could not help me, because it would throw their inventory off and referred me to their customer service telephone number. When I contacted customer service they told me another department would have to ... Read more

I ordered two necklaces in late November for Christmas gifts. Everything seemed to go smoothly I received a confirmation e-mail, and eventually a shipment confirmation with tracking number and my credit card was charged. Two weeks later still no product, and no tracking information I contact the company. After being told that there was a glitch and the order wasn't received and therefor never shipped. The customer service rep told me that if the product was still available I would be expedited the product or I would receive a refund within the next 48 hours. After a week of no product, no refund I contacted customer service one more time only to be assured that I was not charged (even though I had the statement to prove it), and that the products were no longer available but that I might find some 'new and exciting products added daily'. I had to get my bank involved to dispute the transaction, I received a credit within the day. You would think it was over. Well it wasn't... they se... Read more

In this touch economic time with every company fighting for every dollar, this companies customer service practices are shameful!!! They will for sure be out of business in the near future as the only thing they have going for them are the ridiculous policies that everyone stands behind. Well you have just lost yet another customer. Maybe the upper management should revisit the taking care of the customer policy 101 again.

The sevice at ny&c stores is TERRIBLE! they are not ready to check for sizes for you. the store is always messy.. especially the one on 58th and lex in manhattan. the sales rep are rude and are not ready to help you with sizes, with returns, with the long lines at the checkout desks. it's just terrible! definitely there are places better than here to shop.. like H&M!! even H&M is better than NY&C!!

NY&Co; sucks. I ordered a "Leather" jacket online only to find out it was 100% Polyester when it arrived. I am very disappointed, they tried hard to disguise the fact that it wasnt actually leather. Here is the description- City Style Leather Trench Deliciously soft and supple leather trench with double-breasted wrap front, long sleeves, inverted back pleat and belt. Lined. Hits at mid-thigh. Poly. Imported. Here is a link to the ad~ http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3071/3021517243_a069 d218da_b.jpg

The customer service is very rude and does not know how to talk to people. They also dont care about their customers. I had a gift card that I used online, when I went to place my order the website failed but took the money off my gift card and they never replaced it. They continued to say they were going to call back but never did. I called and talked to their supervisor, manager and their so called "Corporate". I will never shop there again which is very sad because I loved that store for years. I thought they were more classy and I never wouldve imagined them to steal money from people!!

1997-2001 I could not walk into this store without coming out with an armload of purchases..back then the clothes were great! Nice cotton dresses and skirts that were a decent length, summer dresses that didn't look skanky--their clothes had a real sophisticated look and feel. Today I don't even bother going in anymore, the clothes are cheap looking--shiny polyester pants(gross) no more cotton or silks and the skirts and nice tunic shirts are looong gone. The clothes look cheap and trashy now--defintely not career wear..Who wants to go to work looking like a Solid Gold Dancer? I can only describe it as tacky and skanky. I read on their website that their profits are down--again..no surprise! They once were a great clothing store but a few years ago they really dropped the ball. It would not surprise me if they went out of business within the next 5 years.

They have really come a long way. Reasonable prices for great jeans, career clothes, and sweats. Plus tons of accesories and undies. Very sophisticated store!

This store is great! For fall 2005, they sell some of the best fitting lowrise jeans around, I tried comparable jeans in Express, Old Navy and Gap, and honestly, NY & Co had the best fitting ones out of all of them! Also, they have great work clothes. If you sing up to be on their mailing list, they send you coupons at least once a month, so it's definitely worth checking them out!

I used to love this store 3-4 years ago, but lately, I can't stand to shop there anymore b/c their low-rise jeans fit me terribly (not to mention they are corny-looking) and all of their cotton dress pants stretch out to eternity after a couple of hours of wear! If you like being a smaller size than what you normally are (I'm a 5/6 in mostly every store, but only a 4 in NY&CO;) then this is the store for you.

I love this store....they have the best basic and trendy pieces in all sizes. The quality is fantastic, and you can't beat the prices. And they're great about sending you coupons often.
