I've never had a problem so far with my satellite service, so I've never had to get ahold of a customer service rep.

Had Direct TV for four years when with my ex....every time there was a problem (which was often) we would be on hold for hours. Then they would tell us it would be three days before they could fix it. I would say they were quick on programing problems but not repairs. Cable companies varie. I have heard nightmare stories with compcast but I have Charter and they have been great. Twice my cable has gone out on the weekend (not bad for three years) and both times have been my fault (wont go into that lol) but both times I got someone on the phone right away and was up and running withing two hours...they were prompt about coming out to fix it.

I'd say they are both about equal, especially nowadays. The cable people are so worried you are going to switch to satellite, they practically kiss your butt, when I was moving and had my cable shut off, the lady went into a big long speel about how they were sorry we were going and is there anything they could have done differently, etc. And when I told her I was moving she said oh, ok, never mind then
