To Conservatism: Yes, Rommel was one of the greatest generals in history. No comparison to Lee. In North Africa, Rommel was not outnumbered most of the time; and Lee fought a war that he could have "won", as winning for the south only meant a Union withdrawal from the CSA.

Ah yes, the "Desert Fox".  Rommel is one of my favorite commanders in history because like Hannibal and Lee he fought a war which he could not win, but being a genius in military warfare he was able to hold off much larger forces.
