People on crack say things like that. What's Dubbayas excuse ?
numbah16tdhaha 08/10/2005
How special for you. Could you pass the crack please, Mr. Mayor?
abichara 06/16/2005
How about when victims of murder are robbed or assaulted before they're killed?
Redoedo 06/16/2005
How nice for you. At least I won't have to worry about being robbed or assaulted walking the streets of Washington DC. Murdered? Maybe.
PlanetaryGear 06/16/2005
Outside of the crack smoking and the hookers, we have one of the most law abiding mayors in the country -what a D.C. resident MIGHT say.

Absolutely hysterical. Only DC would have re-elected Barry.
Sundiszno 06/15/2005
Sounds something like a Yogi Berra quote. Anyway, even if Barry was trying to be funny (and not just plain stupid), I think that he was wrong. There were (probably still are, if not even worse) sections of DC that mugging is inevitable. Cabbies refuse to pick up fares in some parts of DC because they are afraid of being robbed. Most folks don't consider downtown DC safe at night any more. Yeah, DC is a nice place to be from - as far away from as possible.

Well, now THAT puts my mind at ease!

Are you telling me he did not intend this comment to be funny? Hey, you might get killed, but you won't get assaulted, robbed or raped. C'mon down to the city.

That's the exact quote, so nothing to add other than I think it's pretty funny. I would like to comment on the list as a whole for a moment. While not every quote is stupid, it can lead to stupidity. Some are getting the reactions I expected, same old stuff. Yeah, Clinton lied, but at least he didn't lie about WMDs. Problem is, to swallow that, you have to completely ignore the quotes by John Kerry and Bill Clinton referring to Iraq and WMDs made up to three years before Bush took office. The responses to those quotes pretty much consist of, Oh, yeah, but that's different. Well, it wasn't different to Bill Clinton. I have my problems with the former President, but he was the only Democrat (it seemed) trying to give an honest response to the WMD situation during the campaign last year. He said he thought Saddam had WMDs too, but that's not what some people wanted to hear so they ignored it. Other than that, it's the same game. Dick Cheney dropping an F-bomb on the senate floor in what was a private exchange, away from cameras and microphones, is deemed a horrible thing. A United States senator dropping an F-bomb while talking about the President of the United States during an interview with a major magazine is apparently perfectly alright. I have noticed that people seem to think Clinton only lied about Monica Lewinsky. Hell, Monica isn't even the only woman he lied about. There's always illegal campaign contributions, Whitewater, special favors, etc. Of course, we also have the rather disturbing trend of someone trying to compare themselves to Christ, while at the same time trying to make it sound like Republicans don't care about people. That's simply not true. At least we've gotten this far without someone using the word Nazi. Wow. This was a long post for me. I'm enjoying the comments. Keep them coming.
