Amazing city to be able to call home for that past 2 years after having grown up in Texas.

marches to its own drum, doesn't worry about how odd it looks -- but everything SF values goes back to savoring life. Usually the rest of the country follows suit, after a decade of ridiculing SF for being too "out there."

Ah, San Francisco! There was a time when I, like Tony Bennett, would've gladly left my heart with you! But not anymore, cruel, sexy mistress. You're just not as hot as you used to be.Don't get me wrong, San Fran (don't you dare call it 'Frisco'!) is still a cool town, one of the few places west of the Mississippi that I'd consider living (for a long period of time). But it's changed. It's changed dramatically. The free-spirited, do your own thing, have fun vibe of the 1980s and early 90s has given way to a Yuppie homogenous takeover that makes San Fran seem more like San Diego! Everyone's a transplant, there's no *real* diversity anymore (you know it's true), and the only native San Franciscans you meet are homeless people, and they're usually shooting heroin (or going to the bathroom) on someone's front lawn.Yes, the weather is still great; the views, the vistas, the hills...the burritos! San Francisco burritos are like perfection wrapped in tin foil! Tangy and beefy and oozing with m... Read more

Pros: It's beautiful, fun, a lot of things going on everyday, plenty of clubs, restaurants, bars, parks, people are mostly nice and polite, there is a great diversity of neighborhoods,a good public transportation system, and finally it's the hometown of the Anchor Steam beer!!! Cons: The weather in some parts of the city sucks, housing is expensive and highly competitive in terms of finding a place, parking is most of the times a nightmare, and clubs close at 2 am

I'll put it this way I rather visit San Fran over LA any day of the week, but I'm still not a fan. I think that the city has a weird laid back vibe mixed with the high pace of a city. It doesn't really work for me. I was really disturbed to see that each time I have been in San Fran that the homeless situation has only gotten worse. It's really a hindrance to the city. Sure, I got some great stories while I was there, but get these people homes! I will say that San Fran has really amazing architecture, but my love of the city stops there.

I enjoy all of California. Two years ago I spent two weeks touring the entire state with my then- girlfriend. San Francisco was a nice place to visit, I especially enjoyed the Haight-Ashbury District. I Also had fun in Chinatown and the Fillmore. San Francisco is a fun place to visit, but bring money because it is expensive.

All of the comments about "too many gays" in San Francisco just prove how ignorant most people are. Unless you're in or around the Castro District, you won't see that many obviously gay people. I doubt most of the reviewers here have even been to San Francisco. All they know are the stereotypes. God damned fools.

This is a fun city to go to. Beautiful scenory, lots of shops, and cool place to check out like Alcatraz, Golden Gate, Pier 39, Lombard Street (the crookedest street in world), and Coit Tower. I also had my wedding and honeymoon there!Word of advice though, don't drive a manuel transmission there!!!

Lets face it! San Francisco is one of the better cities in the U.S. I haven't been their but I'll be down there very soon and I already know I'm going to love it there.

San Fran is a great city for a fat lesbian like me. Unfortunately, I can't afford it!  Nice restaurants and public transportation, like the BART, is very efficient here.

Frisco was a great place to live prior to 1967 - and not bad for a few years after that - until greedy landlords and yuppies finally made it unaffordable for interesting and artistic people. Bohemia is dying, if not already dead.
