This may be cheating since I grew up there, but I enjoy the city. I'm not a fan of Country music, but its not Like Rap and Rock are outlawed. I grew up in the Ghetto in Nashville, near Antioch, the place tourists don't visit, at least not back then, I don't know about today. There the schools are bad and no one speaks English, except the rednecks. In those parts there were lots of parks to visit, and I don't remember it being so bad. If I didn't own a mirror, I don't think I would have known what a white person looked like, but I consider that a good thing. The Waterfront in Nashville is pretty cool and the pubs are a fun place to drink. There are also some good Museums, and other tourist-y stuff. Lots to do in Nashville, I have good childhood memories of it. I can't help but wonder how accurate those memories are...

I have to say, my 2 days in Nashville were 2 of the best in my life. I'm not exaggerating. If you like live country music at all, you haven't lived until you've been to Nashville. I spent 9 consecutive hours in one bar (Robert's Western World) and enjoyed every second, listening to some of the best live music I've ever had the privilege of listening to. Anywhere you can wander into a bar without knowing the city, pay no cover, drink pbr out of a can for 2 bucks a pop, and listen to world-class musicians do their thing is okay in my book.

Great place to visit. The nightlife is fun, though you really have to look to find one that does NOT play country music. There are a lot of outdoorsy stuff to do too. Rivers for kayaking or canooing, trails to hike, and places to camp. Best of all is the city is navigatable, important for the non natives.

I can't comment on what it's like to live there, but as a place to visit, it might be the best city in the U.S. There are tons of things to do. It has the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, numerous honky-tonks with live music, the country music hall of fame, music shops and museums, and great food everywhere.  Driving in downtown Nashville was much easier than I expected. The traffic is easier to navigate than many cities a fourth of it's size. I was able to drive right downtown and find decently priced parking within blocks of most of the major attractions. Everything is centrally located, so once you get downtown, you can park your car and easily do the rest on foot.

Nashville is a great city.   It's easy to get around, and the street scaping is beautiful.  The people are a little behind the times but the city offers great shopping and wonderful dining (better than I expected).

Decent city, way to many rednecks with nascar numbers on their cars. lots of crime they say. Good weather, women were beautiful but overall the people are not very smart

My wife is from Nashville, so I tend to get a little sentimental about the city, and no doubt biased toward it. Yet even for the outsider the city has a lot to offer. It's the only city I've been to in the South that's navigable on foot, and poking your head into the Willie Nelson General Store or into the various honky-tonks with free music while strolling around in the usual moderate temperature is a lot of fun. It's centralized: for example, the county made the good choice of putting the Titans stadium right in the middle of downtown, rather than in some distant suburb as is the case with many football stadiums. Atlanta may have more happening, but Nashville is far and away my favorite city in the South.

Nashville, TN is a gem of a city. It is by far, not only about country music. It is a melting pot of cultures and that is reflected in what you see and hear. This truly unique city is one of the best in the nation.

I moved to Nashville from New Jersey in 1994 and 12 years later I still love it. I live in a town right outside of Nashville. Of course there are rude people here. There are rude people no matter where you go. Nashville is very diverse with people residing here from all over the country. There is so much to see and do that isn't overly expensive. It's a beautiful place to live overall. 5 stars!

I do not understand why some people rate it as 2 or worse. I was in that city yesterday; I did even see the outskirts of downtown and I was enamored by what I saw. I know, I did see I-65/40 being a jam many times, but heavy traffic's common in many cities, right? I have seen how prominent Belmont and Vandy Universities are and they looked good and many students are well educated. You should see the beautiful Capital Mall, you will learn a lot about Tennessee and like the scenery. You can also visit the expanding, but well managed zoo. The bus system is excellent and the police did a great job in controlling the city from crime, especially on pro football and hockey games. The skyline is magnificent day and night. Prominently shown at night are the towers of BellSouth and USBank and the Sheraton Hotel. Nashville is not just about country music!!! I did see good jazz musicians at the renowned BB King Club and many other nightclubs. I would have said 5 stars as my rating, but 4 as there's... Read more

some of the people there can be rude and inconsiderate but maybe that's life in the city. The friendliest people i came across were out-of-towners. The apt. complexes are quick very quick to tow away your vehicle. There are some good things about Nashville But I wouldn't recommend moving there unless you have the means to make a decent living and your vehicle is in good running condition.

I went to college in Nashville - its a great college town!! There are a half a dozen or so universities here, specializing in everything from top-notch academic (Vanderbilt) to the artsy muscial prodigies (Belmont University). Its a great place for that age for dating (huge dating scene) and having fun. The weather is awesome - beautiful sunny skies and four distinct seasons and the rolling green hills are beautiful. However, I'm not sure I would move back there now that I am in the next stage of life. It seems like a great place to raise a family - Williamson County is a very safe, affluent area. But, if you're in that stage in between college and family, I'm not sure Nashville would be the best place to live.

Nashville's downtown has come back to life in recent years, and Broadway is a great stroll, day or night. Provence Bakery (near Vanderbilt) is among America's best. The city could use a few more exotic choices for dining. Summer music festival on the riverfront is well-run, and huge fun.

Nashville is one city I could live in (prefer small towns). Everytime I go there for one event or another I like it...except I will agree that due to non stop concruction (which is a TN thing, not just Nashville) traffic can be bad. I like country though Im not a die hard, but do manage to enjoy time in Nashville.

Never liked Nashville, traffic is a nightmare, not that attractive of a city. Fun nightlife i guess but most of it is geared towards Country music of course and i can't stand that stuff. Too hot in the summer and most people here are very conservitive, not for me.

Nashville's a great place to live and work. The people are friendly and easy going and do NOT fit the stereotypical Rhinestone Cowboy image stamped upon them by ignorants who would rather poke fun at a region than get to know it. Vanderbilt Medical Center rates as one of highest facilities in the nation, musical talent abounds (and not just country); the Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators, and Nashville Sounds are great attractions for sports lovers; and the shopping, resturants, and other entertainments are equally attractive. Getting around can be a pain in the rear, but relatively few cities have a perfect hwy system...at least we're working on it.

Poor Abba5 obviously knows NOTHING about Vanderbilt. I've lived here for ten years and have found it to be a beautiful place filled with talented, intelligent and friendly people. Great resturants, cultural attractions, beautiful neighborhoods, old money, decent values, great sports (football, hockey, baseball)and some pretty decent shopping too. Traffic and construction are a pain but that's the price we pay (now) for improved roads (later). Think I'll stay around.

Nashville has more churches than any other large city I've been to. I swear, there's a big one on every corner it seems. This probably tells you a good bit about the folks who live there - traditional southern and conservative. I've got 2 girl friends who recently moved to Nashville (one thinks its ok the other hates it) so I go there occasionally - otherwise I wouldn't because even though it seems like a pretty decent place it doesn't exactly call you back. Nashville's nightlife is okay but Memphis' is far better. Nashville has plenty of nice looking girls, that's a plus. Another asset is the (usually) clean, safe, nice neighborhoods. If you like to do things outdoors, there's some nice areas to go camping, canoeing and hiking within fairly close striking distance.

The best thing about Nashville is its people. Outside of LA, I have never seen more great-looking people. The difference between LA's and Nashville's hotties is that in Nashville, people are genuinely nice. As far as beautiful areas, I suggest a drive through the West End and Belle Meade, Vanderbilt and Hillsboro and also Green Hills. Nashville is beautiful. I'd love to live there, but it is too far from the Northeast and the ocean. By the way, the BellSouth building is nicknamed Gotham and can be seen through a telescope all the way from the SEARS TOWER IN CHICAGO on a clear night!!! Wow....pretty cool, huh?

I've been to Nashville twice on business trips and havent spent a lot of Quality Time in the city, but what I saw and experienced of it I liked. I was surprised it was as big as it was and it has a lot going on. I expected a heavy dose of Country music influence and it's there, but it's OK. It's a city with a lot of life and seems like a step below Atlanta as far as a major Southern metropolis. Two things I liked about it are Goo Goo clusters and The Bat Building. Ask a local about the Bat building and look at it and you'll be humming the theme song to the old Batman TV show. Guarenteed !

NAshville is an Amazing city. Tons of history and plenty of entertainment. The people are educated your just retarded and stay around the tourist ABBAfan5. And another thing, DISCO IS OVER THAK GOD!! ABBA SUX!!! I dont like country music eiter. Nasvhille has way more than coutry singers. The Interstates are conjest all the time because of the construction and youcant even compare it to a Washington, L.A. or New York. I cant just be mee that like it as it is the 8 most visited place IN THE WORLD, and is the 12 fastest growing city IN THE U.S. You will love it!!!!!

Unfortunately, Nashville is nothing more than an uncontrolled sprawly pit with horrible traffic and uneducated citizens.

Nashville has the best highway system of any city I've been to in this country. Also, the radio stations are superb. As far as size goes, Nashville is just right. On the downside, while nightlife is decent, it could use a little more variety to go along with the country-oriented places. Also, if you head out of town to the nothwest on I-24, it seems the metro area just suddenly dies. Overall, Nashville is a decent city.

Nashville is an awesome city. So much to do and see and much of it isn't overly priced. I visited Nashville from the northeast and loved it so much that I moved here! And, yes, we do have plenty of sunny days.

I've been in (or driven though) Nashville more than 15 times, and it's never been sunny. Not once. Coincidence? You be the judge.
