I've loved his work since I was 8, and wrote my graduate school thesis on it. Obviously, I'm a little biased, but can you think of another writer or his best known work that so completely dominates a genre? I can't. The greatest fantasy author and the greatest fantasy series in history: Tolkien is kind of like the Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretsky of the field.

Definetely one of my favourites. I love the Lord of the Rings books, and the Hobbit was good too. I love Tolkien's writing style ,and I admire his imagination.

Giant in the fantasy world. This man came up with a new reality that we could wonder into. Legend, if only hed done more!
