Of course Pakistan is "the most beautiful country in the world"  [knows that it's often good policy to humor the insane]...but how can you truly enjoy it when the Taliban wannabees are in your face; when the Musharraf dictatorship is so tenuous; when your Caucasian or other racial face puts an automatic fatwah on yerazz; when you don't know if you're walking beside a--and I call 'em as they really are, not as the media sugarcoats them--homicide bomber?  Tough having a good time in a place like that, no matter how beautiful.  Don't believe me, ask any Jew, Gypsy, Pole or gay during the 3rd Reich...Austria and Germany were swell, but the people went nutz.5

I visited Islamabad, Pakistan back in December 1999. Coming from a western country it was certainly an eye opener. Completely forgetting this was a muslim dominated country - they don't celebrate Christmas or New Years - it was strange seeing the streets empty and quiet with no visible celebrations. The rules concerning muslim women were a little too extreme for me - they were not allowed to walk the streets alone as this type of behaviour implemented they were prostitutes, not being allowed to sit on toilet seats in public places and not being allowed to wear short skirts in public. After overlooking these factors and realising this was a once in a lifetime experience I started to appreciate the country for what it really was and loved the gorgeous and beautifully designed buildings, was a little intrigued with MTV Asia showing various types of Bhangra music, admired the hand crafted furnishings at cheap prices and laughed at their black market entertainment and over-decorated buses that looked like ice-cream vans. I don't regret going to Pakistan and although there were certain things to admire about the country its one that I won't be rushing back to in a hurry. 3

Good mountain and nature viewing, but so hot. I mean, The heat is sweltering. Most of the people are very polite and will help you with directions. I had to cover myself up head to toe because I was female. But I didn't really mind because once you see all the gorgeous works of Nature, It really makes you feel like you're in Paradise. 3

From Time Magazine...The tribal courts sentence 18-year-old Makhutar Mai to be gang raped. Because her 14-year-old brother had a girlfriend from the higher class. Her father was held at gun point and could not help her. After Makhutar was raped, she was forced to walk home naked. Hearing these stories make me sick. 3

Pakistan is the best and the most beautiful country in the world! Just look at some pictures of Swat and Hunza Valleys. People in other countries give it or anyother country bad ratings mostly because of ignorance. I have never been to India and it is considerd an enemy of Pakistan but it would not be truthful of me to give that country bad ratings just because of that. There are good and bad people in every country and it takes real guts to set your prejudices aside and say the truth! 3

SEEING IS BELIEVING. IT'S A LOVELY COUNTRY AND THE PEOPLE ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND KIND. KARACHI, LAHORE AND ISLAMABAD ARE THE CITIES TO SEE. MUREE AND SAWAT ARE PARADISE ON THE MOUNTAIN. 5

It shocked me when I saw a British documentary about Pakistan showing women who had been burned by their husbands & other family members, sometimes only because they had talked to a "wrong" boy!! :o((4
