When I bought my first can I was a little disappointed by the sound of it, but that was before I broke the seal. I took a big pinch and fell in love. This is the best stuff ever. Not too sure if its really dip, but its amazing!

I started dipping a little bit again and my first choice was Hawken. I wasn't even sure if it was still available. But it is and I'm glad. I'm an adult and haven't dipped much since I was a kid. And after reading all these reviews it boils down to "opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and they all stink" Some will like it and some will hate it. Back in the day I started on Copenhagan and went to Skoal and then skipped around to Hawken, Skoal and Happy Days. I like flavor, even with cigarettes I prefer to smoke menthol. If you don't like flavor then dip Cope or something similar. Anything is worth a try and if you don't like it move on. I enjoy the flavor, smell and cut of Hawken. Stays packed, tastes good, flavor lasts a long time. I don't dip to get a buzz and if you do then you must be in Jr. High school because that's what the kids said back then. "Cope gives you a buzz, Hawken's for pussies" If that's your opinion it really show's your lack of free thinking and your IQ. Yo... Read more

Out of all the brands of smokeless tobacco that i have used in the past, i consider Hawken to be the best. A few people on this page have said that its "candy tobacco" just because it doesn't taste like you just packed a nice big piece of shit into your lip doesn't make it candy. Sure it's sweet but i can't think of anything wintergreen flavor that tastes like crap other than dip. Another amazing thing about this dip is that its flavor lasts forever... I had a pinch in my lip for at least a good hour and a half and i still had all its flavor, the only reason i take it out usually is to eat. Also, the dude below me said that it doesn't buzz you... If you still get a buzz from dipping then you shouldn't be reviewing any kind of dip. Believe me if you enjoy red man or similar chews then you will love hawken because its not messy at all, tastes great, packs great, flavor lasts forever, and just because it is amazing. I bought my first can not really thinking it would be good and by t... Read more

Before I even opened my first (and only) can of Hawken, I packed it and said to myself "What the hell is in here, a hockey puck?" I broke the seal and looked inside it and said to myself again, "Must be a new thing.... extra extra extra extra long cut." Since I always lived by the idea that you cant judge a book by it's cover, I thought nothing of it and gave it a shot. To be honest, I regret even buying my first can. Its WAAAAAAAY too sweet, doesn't give me any buzz, and hurts the hell out of my lip. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I don't dip wintergreens much anymore, but I'm just not fond of this product at all. A dip/chew hybrid sounds good on paper, but it just doesn't do it for me. The only thing I do like about it is that is that it packs very well, and doesn't fall apart when I'm dipping it. It's very easy to switch sides, which is something I look for in a dip (oddly enough), but other than that, I don't think I'll be buying this one again anytime soon.

I don't like this smokless tobacco for two reasons. It's cut thicker than all other brands of smokeless tobacco and it's Wintergreen. I hate wintergreen. My friend gave me a couple of cans of Hawken in 1982 when I was only eleven. Back then I liked it but not now. I give this brand of smokeless tobacco a 2 star rating.

A chew/dip cross in a can seems like a good idea, but it had an overpowering wintergreen flavor and numbed my mouth for half an hour after I took it out. My first can of Hawken was my last.

Cope chewers hate Hawken. Fine. I can live with that. Lets face it Cope smells like horse manure, it really does. People say "Hawken tastes sweet and its cut weird" it is sweet and it does have a unique cut. The flavor lasts forever, you can dip it or chew it like side chew and has a taste unlike any other snuff. I won't chew any other. I love its smell and the classic classy style of can. If your not afraid that some brain dead mullet cut goon might say "Thats pussy stuff!" then try Hawken. Its tastes good, lasts forever, packs nice, smells good and is the best chew I have ever tried.

I live in a small town near Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I like dipping but I have a hard time finding the tobacco I want. The only tobacco I can get is Copenhagen and Skoal. I would llike to buy Kodiak,Grizzly and Hawken. If anybody can give me a hint as to where and how to get these in Canada he would be more than welcome. My e mail address is: [email protected]. I had an old can of Hawken Wintergreen. I like the taste but find it weak. Hope to hear from a friend soon. jean-guy

Just got my first can of hawken today and i must say i am impressed.I have been chewing skoal straight and a little cope my entire life and this is a tasty chew, i love the texture, good in cheek or in your lip,not as strong as skoal straight (28.8mg of nic. per gram) but i really enjoy it. i don't know what i am gonna do when this roll runs out, im up in canada and i cant get anything here except skoal and cope,i will have to start a smuggling ring! haha.

Started sneaking Hawkens when I was 11 years old. 30 years later, still my favorite. Keep a roll in the truck and the house at all times. Love the stuff. Keep up the great work.

Hawkens good,  its unique.  Not like a "dip" presay but it is almost like a hybrid...a crossbreed between a dip and chew.  Tastes good,  always moist,  lots of black spit,  there might mot be alot of a buzz,   but this a damn fine smokeless product.

I have been dipping Hawken since 9th grade, 28 years now. Dabbled with the others but do not like the buzz and sick feeling they leave me with. Sissy or not, I will stick with my Hawken. The cut is what I like the best. I enjoyed Levi Garrett every now and then but it made too much of a mess at work. Hawken's cut stays packed and I can pop it out of my gum and chew it when I chose to. I hope they never stop making it.

Ah hawken! Fuckin delicious if you ask me.. Like many others I discovered this moist marvel while drunk at a party and had it offered to me. I usually dip around damn near everything... mostly skoal, and when cash is tight red seal (which by the way,, taste the same if you ask me) But as soon as I packed a mid size lip I caught myself going back for more.... Fuckin horseshoes all night man!!! Only complaint is that the cut of the dip is way too thick... This shit will absolutely SHRED your gums... I've noticed recently as well, that the flavor of my hawken dips have been lasting less and less long, but this could just be from a stale can being sold to me... Could be a bit stronger... I mean... its great for being drunk and wanting some flav in ya lip. and for beginners and casual dippers... good choice though all around

Having been an on and off dipper for years now, I was recently offered a dip of hawken while drunk at a friends party. First thoughts were, when I popped the lid that is, wow what a wonderful smell, and what a peculiar cut! Well I packed a mid sizer in my lip and in about 30 seconds was reaching for the can to stuff even more of this delicious dip in my mouth. This stuff is truly delicious but almost un-dip like really. If a newcomer to dip tries this stuff and thinks skoal, cope, and grizz ,,, etc. are like it... well.. lmao they have another thing coming to them when they hit the brick wall of their first dip buzz... But overall... I love this stuff.. I can see myself dipping it for years along with my skoal and cope.

I am finding it harder and harder to find Hawken. They took it off the shelves at the local Speedways. Is anyone else having this problem? I like the firmness and the way it packs tight. The flavor is fantastic.

Back in my chewing days, I used a lot of Hawken. I couldn't smoke on the job. The problem is that you go through a can faster than most. I also had a problem that this stuff shredded the tip of my tongue. You chewers and dippers out there know what I mean.I remember a story about Hawken.  I had a friend who was as addicted to this stuff as I was.  He came up to me and he was out.  He asked for a dip.  I offered him a new can unopened.  He cracked it open, and he stated getting into a new can was just like getting a new girl friend.  You never knew what you were going to get, but you had a great time exploring and learning!  Ah, Hawken.

I started dipping in the early 80s. I started out using Hawken and to this day consider it a starter product. As I remember it tasted like certs breath mints. I loved it at the time but I was a 14 year old child at the time. I've been using Copenhagen for the past 22 years.

A moist, soft, sweet, delectable dip, that doesnt come apart in your mouth. Almost too sweet, but its pure beastlyness and convenience make it a rare find amongst todays poorly made, but more popular dips.

All you people that dont think HAWKEN is the best all around is just plainly ridiculous. It is a chew that gives you flavor in your lip that is what it is evidently to put flavor in your lip it doesnt have to be so strong that you feel sick. it is just the best

What is it with people who want to get a buzz off of dip?!?! That's retarted...go smoke a cigarette(people who chew regularly dont even get a buzz) As for Hawken, I guess it just depends on what type of person you are but personally, that stuff is nasty(no nicotine, bad taste, horrible cut, and an all around waste of money). Go for the good stuff and chew some fresh cope or grizzly..hell..try some rooster!

First of all, please do not submit any more reviews if you don't know how to spell. I get sick of trying to read shit that looks like it was written by a four year old. As for Hawken, I agree, the cut is a little rough, and the nicotine is lower than others. However I prefer the taste to other comparably priced snuff. Skoal is probably the best. As for all of you idiots that like Grizzly, that is the worst tasting shit in the world. I would rather get a big dip of worm dirt since it tastes the same. Quit being a cheap ass and pay the extra 1.50 for a can of Skoal!!!!!

This is the best damn chew in the world. I hate buzzing off chew, I think it is completely pointless to buzz. I rather enjoy my chew. Instead of worrying about sweating and pucking my guts out for anything else. People who like to buzz off chew are a bunch of stoners.

i first started chewing kodiak. i then used hawken and never have gone back. I've also tried skoal, copenhagen, timberwolf, redwood, and redseal. Nothing matches the great flavor of hawken. Although i do enjoy a bit of redwood now and then. WARNING!! you must be a real man to chew hawken. Overall hawken is the ultimate chew.

Decent dip. Mild kick, not much nicotine. Good morning dip also, good alternate when the gums get beat up. First pick is Skoal. If you want a stiff nicotine kick, copen or Grizzly however, Hawken is a good mild chew
