
Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and is its largest city with a population of 430,000. Bratislava lies on the Danube River, and is the Slovakian city that borders Austria and Hungary. The Carpathian Mountains begin near Bratislava, and the city is home to Slovakia’s President and governmental leaders. Bratislava is the site of Devin Castle, a castle destroyed by Napoleon and his army in 1809. The castle still lies in ruins.
