The beach is ok, but no better than others up and down Florida'a Atlantic coast. The town has too much crime, traffic, population and run down buildings to be charming. Daytona no longer attracts many spring breakers, the largest tourist groups are bikers and race fans. If you want uncrowded beach without high rises, go to Patrick AFB between Cocoa and Satellite Beaches, or the coast north or south of St Augustine. If you want a '70s surfer town, Cocoa Beach is your place, or Jacksonville beach towns. If you want upscale resorts, they're at St Augustine, Ponte Vedra and Amelia Island. If you want a nice town for a quiet weekend, you might like Fernandina Beach. Depressingly run down: Orange, Smyma, Titusville and Cocoa (inland from Cocoa Beach). Boring suburbs are at Satellite, Indiatlantic and Melbourne.

Tacky, cheesy, over-developed, spring-broken extravaganza...Some big local bars hire planes with banners claiming that "girls drink for free all night, every night"...Yeah Bubba, you can still drive your big truck all over the beach and the waves here are pretty decent too! The famous Oyster pub is definitely worth a visit!

Folks, I chose to live here - moving fr. Manhatten to be near my elderly parents. I am a single middle aged woman and this place has nothing to offer. Nice place to vacation, retire or die. Still in Culture Shock 3 yrs. To live here has gotten very expensive, jobs don't pay and the rednecks, low life, transients and traffic quite frankly make it depressing and dangerous. Visit folks, but rent and spend time here before you invest in a 400K condo on the beach like I did. The sunshine and beach don't pay the bills. It Stinks here.

I used to live in Florida and I miss the beaches and warm weather. Daytona is pretty good, lots of things to do. The only drawback is the traffic. Look both ways before crossing the beach. But even with that a day at the beach, any beach is fine by me.

Daytona is da bomb!! I love going there every year. If you have something bad to say about Daytona, then you are just really lame, because there is nothing lame about Daytona. There are plenty of hotels, shops, restuarants, and other action to check out! And the beach is awesome. Sometimes thoguh the ocean looks like a lake...but it just depends on what time of the year you go. But it kicks ass! And that one person said they didn't like it coz' it was to crowed...hello...it's a beach! What do you expect..plus it's one of the most popular beaches.

This isn't really my idea of a nice day at the beach. Too crowded, huge condo's lining the beach front like a wall of concrete. Of course it is certainly a good place to look for eye candy but that's the only real attraction in my mind. Oh and if you don't like crowds then definitely don't go during their motorcycle week. Youch!! nothing but bikes and people in every single nook of town. It'll take you forever just to go a few blocks.

Daytona Beach is THE Spring Break destination for the college crowd. It's full of cheap hotels and miles of beach with scantily clad co-eds. Definitely a key call for college kids on a budget. Especially those in the North and MidWest who can make the 24 hour drive. Daytona is a nice looking beach, however, it may not be around too much longer. They let everything on those sandy shores. From cars to motorcycles to monster trucks. The people of Daytona should wake up and smell the environmental coffee!

I didn't really care for daytona Beach. Besides being dirty, I think this destination is over-rated.

Much nicer than I expected. The best part about Daytona is that they allow you to drive on the main drag of the beach. It's this giant wide beach, with two sand lanes, and people just cruise up and down with a cooler in the car, taking in the sites. Not a bad way to spend a sunny day - especially in a convertible.

Daytona Beach is the spot for everyone despite race or cultural background. My family-and I go every year.
