Prefer Ale to Lager, So right off the bat it loses a star. Loses another star because of the Green bottle. Green and Clear bottles are the devil of beer, it lets in too much light and causes that Skunkiness. However, for a Lager this isn't bad Beer and if you can drink it right away or get it from the tap then its not too bad at all. Overall, it's not my first choice for a brew, but you could do far worse than Becks.

Beck's is alright, but there are so many amazing German beers out there that I do not know why someone would want to waste their time and money on Beck's. It is a good-quality lager, but it is not mind-blowing by any means. It has a rather mild flavor and no unpleasant aftertaste.

Overrated, it may seem a little bizzare for me to give positive feedback on other green bottle standards, but not this one. However, st. pauli is cheaper than becks and heinkein has the keg cans going for it ( to help protect against the great opposition to beer, light). Not to mention I grew up with Pauli and heinkein too. I just have to slam becks.

Sweet German lager aroma, unique style with a bitter taste. It’s a just above average beer that goes down smooth.
EschewObfuscat ion 02/15/2009
Beck's works for me, special occasions only.
edt4 02/13/2009
Ordered it a few times back in the day, but it really doesn't stand out in my memory.
Doctor of Madness 02/12/2009
In Germany, this is a really good beer. The imported product isn't anything special.
irishgit 02/12/2009
Probably the best of the lagers in my opinion. Which given my generally low opinion of that style of beer, is damning with faint praise.

Never tried it but I would like to.
Spike65 06/20/2008
A good lager beer. Green bottles need to be stored out of the light or the beer will become "skunked".
Jill149 06/18/2008
Never had it.
Jennifer132 06/11/2008
if I'm at a bar. wouldn't buy a 6 pack.

I don't drink Beck's very often. I guess I like it.
trebon1038 05/28/2008
I like Becks. Not too heavy tasting where you get the aftertaste.
myspace-288252375 04/21/2008
Yuck!

A good beer, especially considering that it is mass produced. However, when you consider that it is a German beer, it has to be held to higher standards. So if it was an American beer, I could give it five stars. But I just expect more from a German beer.
Automatt 02/11/2008
A good German import. I'm not sure if Belgium can brew beer better than the Germans or not, but when they compete, I win.

Good stuff.

I love Beck's!
GenghisTheHun 12/17/2007
I discovered Becks about thirty five years ago and it is a nice hearty beer. It is not my first choice however.

Excellent lager
sperryc 11/14/2007
Kind of a harsh aftertaste.
CzechMate 11/14/2007
A pretty good lager, but would suggest Starobrno or Radegast instead.
georges11 10/12/2007
This is a fine tasting beer. Not the best but a good high quality drink.
jetjock 07/17/2007
A great tasting beer. It's a shame they don't have Beck's Gold in the States. It is a less bitter brew in my opinion.
gnlentz 06/27/2007
A little too bitter for me.

Its usually my choice when buying beer by the 24oz bottle.
PeterNorth 05/02/2007
I always order it at the bar if there's the usually Bud, Miller, Coors only available. A good drinker and always reliable.
cybergimmick 03/30/2007
I just love it. Great taste, great smell.

Anything from Germany has to be good.
CanadaSucks 03/12/2006
A classic German-blond pilsner flavor. . .a safe bet and a good beer for the money. . .

Germany makes the best beer. WUNDERBAR!
lslcs4lif 03/04/2006
bitter. Didn't enjoy this one at all...
drunkbull19 08/29/2005
Over rated. Does'nt taste good at all. I can barely stand it.
Boxers'n'Danes 08/26/2005
I'd leave a five if they actually sold the original in the States! It was one of my favorites when I still lived in Germany. I was thrilled to discover it in an American bar, only to hand back the bottle after a few sips. I've heard that it had to have things added to the recipe in order to import it here. No clue if it's true, but I can tell you that the original stuff is worth a try, should you ever end up in Germany.
dragonman 06/15/2005
This is a disgrace to German beers, I was expecting something really good being a beer from Germany but it was quite bland and ordinary. The only thing good about this beer is that it's made using Germany's purity law, that all beers made in Germany must only be brewed using, barley, malt, hops and yeast.
tof 03/31/2005
Taste like honey after Brownie .. not better than Ottakringer.
Theodore J. Stalla 02/27/2005
Beck's is a good, not great, German beer. What's a great German beer?: SPATEN (from Munich)!
James76255 02/16/2005
It's okay if you're going to drink one, but does have an odd aftertaste.
jaypunkrawk 02/11/2005
It's quite decent. Nothing special.
Djahuti 10/17/2004
Kind of like drinking bile.
hotel283 06/24/2004
Hard to judge, the stuff in Germany was okay but the North American stuff is gross
DickWeener 02/09/2004
Never liked light colored German beers.....On the nasty side.
kolby1973 11/30/2003
Every now and then, I like to buy a single can of this and just relax. It is very strong to me, but I like it. I can't really explain it to be honest. I couldn't imagine drinking it daily however. I would say this beer would be great for a strong man.
Potrero 11/29/2003
The worst of the German Beers!
