Cutty Sark

By Far the worst whisky I've ever had! Tastes like bad tequila.

Surprisingly better than it might be? Something like that. I haven't sipped any of this stuff for a long long time and only bought this bottle because my buddy at the likker store got a bit of an overstock and gave it to me for 5 bucks off. Thing is, I remember "Cutty" from 30 or 40 years ago as the thing to take to frat house bashes and get bashed with. Not really serious scotch drinker scotch, in other words. But sitting here sipping it tonight (straight at room temperature) and I'm finding it pleasant. Goes okay with the cigar. And maybe I won't get too carried away and overdose which might lead to embarrassing myself on on Twitter again? For something to sip while watching tv, smoking a stogie, and doing stuff on the computer, you can pick things worse than Cutty Sark.

Cutty Sark is what I would call a 'simpleton's scotch' and I'm not saying that in the sense that people who enjoy it are stupid.I would describe Cutty as a very clean scotch that's monochromatic in flavor just nice tasting.It's VERY mild,and I would say this....if I(or anyone for that matter) went into a bar and had to pick between the following-Glenlivet,J&b,Johnny Walker,and Cutty Sark.....I'd go for the Cutty Sark :)

Better than J&B, however that's not saying much. Good price and its pretty smooth. These attributes make it likeable. Not my first choice, however not a bad grab.

Rated as a blended scotch. Super smooth and good flavor, not great. This would be a good introduction to Scotch Whisky. No bad attributes whatsoever. Anyone who drinks this and doesn't think smoooooooooth better stick to wine coolers. I feel this Scotch would be lost in a mix (other than water or soda) due to the light flavor. If you want bigger taste I would recommend Teacher's Highland Cream or Ballentines as alternatives. If you want smooth blended Scotch at a relatively good price give this a try.

Cutty Sark is very light whisky. It was developed for the American market, where those who drank whisky were typically drinking light Canadian blends rather than bourbon or rye. Cutty's flavor is simple and each note clearly distinguished, smoothness is the blend's pride. It is my favorite blend, except maybe for Walker Black. The price has come down recently and a 1/5 is running under $17 at my usual liquor retailers.

Inoffensive blend. It's taken smoothness as its goal and sacrificed everything to acheive it. I would use it as a base for a Rob Roy or Godfather, because it's so neutral in character. I'd rather buy Ballantine's, which I think is a better blend for about the same price, if I was looking for an "everyday" scotch. (If I ever figure out what GenghisTheHun means by "a bar choice," I'll be relieved. I've seen that criticism levied by GTH a few times now and it's a puzzlement to me, because good bars stock a lot of scotches. They'll carry everything from no-name rail bottles, to average-joes like Cutty Sark, to super-premium blends and single malts, because we scotch drinkers are a fussy lot who like to find their favorite bottle on the shelf.)

It ia a matter of age!!! The non-age-statement regular (SCORE:3) is a descent, pleasent yet uninspiring blend. The 12 year (SCORE:2) is boring. The 15 year (SCORE:4) is very pleasent indeed and priced as much as a 12 y.o. blend, which makes it good value for money. Mean score=3

Ok--usually a bar choice. It was big 50 years ago, but has declined as single malts have gained market share.

If you've got some furniture to strip, this is the stuff to do it with.

Scotch for beer drinkers. Easy drinking, not much flavor or depth but still better than Walker or J&B.;

For the price not a bad scotch. However, it just seems to have a flat flavor with too much bite. I don't think they reformulated it to appeal to women. However, if you know some women that drink cutty send them my way.

This is another that was deliberately reformulated to appeal to women. They took the Scotch out of it. Might as well drink water.
