In 2007 I purchased the SS Cobalt new fully loaded with everything. The car now has 60,000 miles on it, and there was nothing easy about them. I beat the crap out of it. Just to give you an idea just how hard I drive it, I've now put my forth set of tires on the car. Since purchasing the car I've had to replace the catalytic converter and it was under warranty. No smoke comes out of the tailpipe when I start it or when I pounce on the gas. The engine is German and built to last. Mechanically the car is great. The interior is beautifully designed, and comfortable. The steering wheel stereo controls are a plus also. The only complaint I have is my AC is not as cold as other cars I've owned and the interior is not as quiet as it could be. The 7 speaker Pioneer sound system comes with a 8inch sub woofer and is by far the best factory stereo I've ever heard. I have read many reviews on the Cobalt and many of them bad. The fact is you get what you pay for. If you buy the base model for 15,... Read more

Had it as a real inexpensive rental. . . I can't imagine anyone buying this car. Bad turning radius. . .window handles are hard to reach (and I'm over 6 feet tall). . .simply a car that cannot hold a candle to import compact cars. It's 2009 - when will American companies make quality compact cars? We've been sucking at this for over twenty-five years.

You could do better, but you could do much worse.  Hopefully Chevy's upcoming Cruze proves a worthy replacement.

Failed!!, I unfortunately bought this lemon of a car. Here are a list of the problems I've had, over the course of 6 months 1.leaking headlights 2.leaking trunk 3.loud crunching noise in left front while going over speed bumps, driveways 4.loud queakign glovebox 5.fabric coming up on inside door panels 6.lighter socket broken 7. persitent ticking noise in engine (lifters) heard while in idle or while drive in town, not under loud conditions, but assume will become louder 8. Steering wheel very stiff to adjust (all of a sudden) 9. loud sqeaking brakes. Don't buy this vehichle, it is already out of date and of very inferior quality, both engine and finish. There are so many better choices in this price range, learn from my mistake, buy import, think of resale value comparison, look at the prices of a 4 year old cavalier vs. any 4 year old import of sale original price.

Watch out imports? Are you kidding me? The Cobalt is already beginning to look dated next to the all-new 2006 Honda Civic. It doesn't even match the current Mazda3. Nissan is about to roll out a redesigned Sentra next year and the Corolla will probably be redesigned soon as well. The Cobalt is a nice try - if only GM brought it to market in 2000, instead of letting the Cavalier linger on until 2005. I suspect a hefty portion of Cobalts will be sold to fleets and rental car companies. "Good enough" simply isn't good enough. Bottom line: The Cobalt is competitive with the current crop of Japanese compacts, but the imports aren't gonna sit by and let Chevy steal their sales. And if history repeats itself, the current Cobalt should still be on sale in 2015.

What a great car! I love my Cobalt. Chevrolet has hit it out of the ballpark this time! I especially love the feel of the electric power steering. Great combination of power, fuel, economy, handling, ride, and overall quality. Watchout imports.. The Cobalt is here!
