Bush does have a credibility gap on several fronts. No, I don't like him, but people in his own party have not gone in lock-step with his fairy-tale, chicken-little story of S.S. America already knows Medicare and health insurance issues (a major cause of middle-class bankrupcies) are more important problems that dubya won't touch.

It is always amusing to hear someone eschew a benefit to themselves because some collateral benefit might inure to someone else. There is none so blind as he who will not see.

Spare me the conspiracy theories and let's try to use some logic here... Social Security reform not only can stabalize and strengthen the American economy but also provide a secure future for those who will rely on Social Security in their old age. I find it interesting that Democrats are the supposed champions of the working man yet when it comes time to provide the working man with a strong future...they seem to back away because they might upset the NEA or the AARP.

This isnt like rating your favorite color. Rating it and not leaving a comment is retarded. Bush is obviously looking at all the pluses of this reform. If this swells the market, fine. We will reap the benefits. Not just republicans, the entire country will benefit from a strengthened economy.

Actually, many of the rich cronies on Wall Street are Democrats but that's besides the point. Yes private accounts will flood the market with additional capital, which is a good thing. The main reason for social security reform is not to enrich Wall Street but to create solvency in our system that is presently unsustainable.
