I can only tell you about my own experience with a credit repair company. I first signed up with Lexington. They did nothing for me except take my money for over a year. Then I signed up with www.GuaranteedCreditBoost.com and this guy Brian Diez got my score up over 100 points in under 30 days. This guy is the real deal.

There are definitely very good and very bad companies out there. I've tried 4 of them. the only one that got off the bankruptcy was www.HighScoresLowRates.com , there were a bit pricey @ 499.00 but they have a money back gaurantee. I guess you get what you pay for. I hope this helps. Beware of the companies that charge under 100 bucks

I have to disagree with you. There are good and bad companies. It is all about time and education. For instance, if you do not know about the laws provided to you as a consumer, why would you dispute your credit on your own? You could create a deeper mess which may cost you more money. For instance, why do people seek help when they are audited by the IRS? The reason why is they do not know the laws in regards to their taxes and they do not want to dig a deeper hole for themselves. That also applies to the reasoning as to why people go to any professional to get a job done ie: Tax Preparer etc.. This is the same for Credit Repair. I always start with the BBB to view complaints. I viewed Lexington Law and the BBB processed a total of 289 complaints about this company in the last 36 months. Of the total of 289 complaints closed in 36 months, 106 were closed in the last year. I personally would not venture into a company with these type of statistics. I know there are firms with fewer com... Read more

Hundreds of thousands of people have seen success with repairing their credit reports on their own or with the help of a licensed credit correction firm like Lexington Law. It is amazing how many people believe there is nothing that can be done about their credit reports because of the biased information provided by the FTC, lenders and the credit bureaus themselves. Instead of falling hook, line and sinker for this propaganda put out by organizations that actually benefit from you having a low credit score, do some research on your own. Take some time to learn about the FCRA and how it protects your right to dispute the items in your credit reports that you feel do not accurately portray your credit worthiness. Get a basic understanding of CROA so you know what to look for and what to avoid when shopping for a credit repair company. Learn your rights with regards to working towards a fair and accurate credit score. Dont let people who believe that credit repair has anything to do wit... Read more

Many of these companies want you to set up an escrow program with them and then not pay your bills. In five years after you have been threatened to go to court or jail, they will then bargain for you in the amount they choose for a payoff.
