The whole series is good, and it's hard to pick a favorite, I would have to pick GTA: Vice City, as my favorite in the series.

That lawyer Jack Thompson needs to concentrate on his job and leave our videogames alone. I own all the current GTA games on the ps2. This was the first series that allowed free roaming. It's so realistic the cars drive in lanes, the size of San Andreas is amazin', ya can beat up people, jump off buildings, kill rival gang members, and do street races. Here's a mission from GTA:SA. CJ hijacks the airplane, kills the italians on the plane, and flys the plane back to the airport. If that aint fun, then I dont know what fun is.

Grand Theft Auto rocks! There is nothing - or nearly nothing - to parallel stealing cars and running over innocent CARTOON pedestrians when you've had a hard day at school or work. I actually find GTA relaxing, because it helps me relieve some of the anger and frustration I've accrued during the day. Of course, I would never go out and steal a car or run over pedestrians in real life. Almost everyone else who plays these games wouldn't either. In my opinion, in fact, if you can't distinguish between reality and video game reality, you have no business playing this game. Grand Theft Auto is the collest of the cool. ClassicTV and the others who poo-poo this game so much (when odds are that they've never even seen a screenshot of any of the GTA games) ought to try it sometime. Unrivaled stress relief.

Sorry ClassicTVFan47, if you want to go play Mario brothers just friggin' go. This game is a target because of it's quality and popularity. A lot of video games I see involve slashing people with swords, bombings, missiles, gamma death rays, wholesale genocide of alien races etc., this franchise is no worse than any of them. It DOES have a story, finish the missions, earn money and reputation and you can complete the game. It's so non-linear I can't believe you don't respect at least the amazing and complete worlds Rockstar made for these games.

Perhaps the most egregiously offensive video gaming franchise in our history, Grand Theft Auto didn't sell well--until it made the jump into 3D. The flaws in this franchise are numerous. For one, the game does not have a true hero. In fact, you can get extra points by stealing cars and beating up hookers! Second, the gameplay doesn't really seem to have an overriding goal--you don't save the world, you don't escape the maze, you don't defeat a flying boss--nothing like that. The graphics are awful and the sound effects and music are just snoozeworthy.

I think that this game is great! You go from mission to mission making a name for yourself in the world of organized crime. It's too bad they couldn't have 6 or 7 stars instead of 5 when you kill officials. I also think some extra missions in places like hong kong would've been great too to give some variety to the game.

Fun for a little while then they get boring and stupid. Drive to mission. Do mission. Drive to another mission. Do it. Rinse, lather, repeat. For best results, add in some boring free roaming. The radio stations are probably the best part of this franchise.
