I started smoking the lights about 2 weeks ago. I did smoke winston lights. I can not smoke a winston anymore. You can really taste the difference. In two weeks, I can breath 50% better, I dont have all that coughing. I do believe that these have less gunk in them because I can really feel the difference in just 2 weeks of switching. I ordered the e cig to and plan on stopping all together. Say what you want, but I can really feel the difference in my body since switching to these. Now to stop all together!! I was pretty amazed with the e cig to. SO many people have stopped smoking on these! I cant wait to put them all down.

I switched to the American Spirits Ultra Lights from the regular brand I smoked, Virgina Slim Ultra Lights. Want to quit and I'm close. After switching to American Spirit for the past three weeks, I no longer have any side affects from all of the chemicals that were in my previous brand. I smoke less of the American Spirit Ultra Lights since they burn slower. This is good because as healthy as I am in every other aspect, I live a healthy lifestyle. I've reduced my smoking from 1/2 a pack a day from my previous brand to only 1-3 American Spirit Ultra Lights a day. I feel much better about smoking now since I do occasionally enjoy doing so. Since smoking this brand, my smoking is infrequent and my desire to smoke along with it. Until I choose to completely quit altogether (soon), I'll enjoy an occasional smoke of the American Spirit brand. I don't mind that they are more expensive because I see and feel a positive difference. Some days, I don't even choose to light up at all! Soon, I'm ... Read more

I love American Spirits- yes, they are a harder draw, but well worth it. The taste is perfect, not as light as a traditional "light" smoke- and not as strong as most full flavors. Just somewhere in-between- the lack of additives does help too- I can breathe much, much easier than when i smoked marbs and other standard cigs. And okay, a bit pricier, but i found them online for 40 bucks a carton, and when regular smokes are averaging 70 a carton- you cant beat it. They don't arrive stale either as most mail-order cigs do. Anyway- no i dont work for the company ;) but i like to share great deals when i find them- and i got them in 3 days..so a good deal. (its adobecigarettes dot c for those who care) Anyway- back to the smoke- perfect in every way- and if you don't like the hard draw, you just roll them between your fingers before smoking- who can complain about a smoke that tastes good, burns well and last three times longer than a regular smoke? The extra bucks you shell out for the ca... Read more

I used to like these once and awhile...the taste is alright, kinda like an "English taste" full Virgina blend to them, although I dont believe they use a "100%" Virgina blend, so it might just be my taste buds. Anyway the whole no chemical thing dosent matter to me one way or another. Its just a gimmick....IMO it only affects the taste, and not the health risks. The worst thing about these cigs is the draw, worse than any other brand by far. Smoking one of these will wind you from the sucking and sucking. The pack itself is kinda cool with the smoking American Indian inside what looks like the Lucky Strike "target". Pretty expansive for not much...

A great cig but quite pricey. Tell me, how is it that people can get away with charging you more when they add less??? Anyway, the taste is great and there is not harsh after taste. As to the packing issue, Im the type of person who packs my cigs A LOT so Im used to it. I really like these, and the no added chemicals thing makes them even better. They may not be exactly healthy but the missing chems makes for a really flavorful smoke. I mean, the tobacco is what its about, not some flavorings. I mean, common, one of the flavoring ingreadiants in regular cigs comes from bay leaf. If I wanted that, I would roll a bunch of bay leaf in with my tobacco and smoke that. Anyway, I give it a four simply because of the price. It would be a five all the way if they were a bit cheaper.

These are the greatest cigarettes ever invented. The taste is not harsh, they don't have added chemicals like most cigarette brands, and they burn twice as long as regular cigarettes. The downside is that they are packed waaaay too tight, so just a heads up, don't bother packing them. They may cost about $2.00 more but it is totally worth the price. I do not roll my own cigarettes, so I buy the regular filtered packs which are about $7.50 a pack where I live. I would recommend American Spirits to all smokers, I have already gotten 3 of my friends to switch. Note that these are not recommend for someone who goes on smoke breaks, these take so long to smoke that you might just want to buy regular Marbs or Pall Mall's. Update: Tried the lights, they are not my type. The taste is really different for some reason. I also tried the ultra lights. Those are awful! They taste fine, but it's the fact they are so short of a drag even sucking on them for a long amount of time (taking a huge dra... Read more

I used to get these all the time, until the cig prices raised over a dollar tax in California. Now I smoke any brand, because the "no additive" argument isn't necessarily too important. Smoke becomes tar, all cigs contain carcinogens. Also, I became skeptical of this brand once I found out that Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company is owned by Rj Reynolds (Camel, Pall Mall, Kool) tobacco company. Just because you smoke these cigs doesn't mean you're supporting an independent business at all. In this day and age, it's hard to trust the marketing business.

I love American Spirits, to me they are the perfect cigarette, hand rolled or in a box. I just got on these not too long ago. I like the blue or cyan pack (same difference) because they burn a little quicker and you get more smoke. A lot of my friends like the yellow pack which would be the lights which are fine. American Spirits taste great, burn slow, burn out if you leave it sit for a while so you don't waste a ciggy or burn the house down, and take longer to get stale. Just a great cigarette. Also I like the fact that they are packed tight...

I was given a pack of these from a friend and purchased a couple packs to get the free carton that they USED to give away every year. Prior to this, I was a Camel Wide guy and after the can and pump filters and free carton, I noticed I had adapted to the initially nasty taste. After denial and continuous smoking for a few years, I found the amount of 'crack nicotine' in this brand and regret switching to this brand. I am skeptical as to whether or not a Nicotine patch would help.

For those out there that are complaining about these being too tightly packed, American Spirits recommend instead of packing them, UNPACK them. Start by pinching the cig right above the filter with ur thumb and index finger, and gently roll it back and forth, moving up towards the tip. If a pinch of tobacco falls out of the cig then you're doing it just right. Once the cig has been loosened up a bit, they draw much better, and you can actually enjoy the smoke instead of just focusing on pulling as hard as you can. They burn faster this way as well. That being said, I have to say the only reason I'd smoke these is so that I can feel like I'm not doing as much damage to my system, and that I'm not inhaling all the additives like ammonia and its counterparts. Due to its lack of taste, I prefer their menthols better than regulars or lights. In terms of taste, turkish golds and turkish royals are much flavorful.

These don't taste as good as other cigarettes, and take way longer to smoke. I used to smoke about one of these a day, but when I switched over to Camels I found myself smoking almost half a pack a day. Good for quitting, I guess, but not for people that want to smoke.

I am a regular cigar smoker who enjoys the occasional cigarette. Yet, no matter where I go, I cannot for the life of me find a good quality cigarette (the overwhelming vast majority of cigarettes out there are a bunch of bland, weak and incredibly crappy s&!t sticks). American Spirit is no different, they're crap too. The flavor is totally forgettable and they burn my tongue. If I bothered to inhale with this brand, I know they would instantly make me throw up. These cigarettes are too tightly packed; one cannot get a decent draw off of these. They are way too expensive considering what you're getting, they aren't worth even a bargain basement price. Avoid these like the plague.

I've smoked cigarettes for a long time (~20 years now). For those of us who're hooked to the habit, and quitting is not a choice for various reasons, like me - it drives me nuts to quit smoking. From a pack of camels a day (I used to stock up on the Camel Lights deals), I've decided to spend the extra $$$ and buy these. Started last summer. It tastes good and satisfies, burns longer and I find myself smoking less. I smoke under 5 a day now ( a little more on weekends, and when I'm at home) and I'm happy with it - overall, I may never quit the habit - I know I'll take it to the grave. The tactic I have is procrastination. When I want to have a smoke, I tell myself (in my head) that I'll wait a while and smoke later, but enjoy the smoke. So thats worked out pretty well, in an hour or two - sometimes more now, when I cant stand it any longer, I go off by myself and light one up and stare into the horizon - trust me - much better than smoking just for the heck of smoking. I may never quit,... Read more

If you're going to do the bad thing, at least do the better thing. I have smoked virtually every brand on the market right now, and there is a very noticable point of product difference with Natural American Spirits. They don't have any added chemicals to them such as brands like Marlboro and Camel do. Of course, this does not make them "safe", but it makes them easier on the body than the thousands of toxic chemicals that Marlboro and Camel put into their blends. My friends and I have all converted to American Spirits and are smoking much less. They cost more per package, but you end up saving loads of money in the long run. I was up to a pack of marlboros a day, and now smoke only 5-7 American Spirits per day. I suggest to everyone that they try these cigarettes. Many people who smoke mainstream brands say that these are not satisfying and that they would rather have their chemical cigarettes, and more power to them. But they are worth a try. If you find that the smokes are not givin... Read more

I started smoking these because I heard they lasted longer. I used to smoke Camel Lights, I'd usually smoke like 15 a day, and I'd find myself chain smoking a lot, so I tried American Spirits. Now I've tried every single variation of this brand, my favorite would be the blue pack (regulars), but I also really like the black (Perique) ones and the organic lights when my throat hurts, the blacks are pretty harsh. Although these cigs cost like $6 for the organic packs, i still try to buy the organic lights. If you chain smoke a lot or just don't want a cig that tastes like chlorine or windex, just switch to these they're definitely worth it and my lungs hurt much less now than when i chain smoked camels.

No flavour. These things taste like hay. Im not paying 10 bucks for hay. I can get a bail of the stuff for 10 bucks. Maybe less. I dunno, Ive never bought hay. How much does hay go for these days anyway? That said, the saving factor for these is that Im gonna buy the organic blend loose stuff. Maroon pack. I'll give these a hit. But if it tastes like hay there's gonna be hell to pay! Hey, that rhymes. Cool. Anyway, the pack is cool. Go for a nat sherman cigarettello if you want some joy. You gotta have some joy, otherwise, what do you have? American Spirit cigs that's what! Skweekah

The only thing I wasn't aware of is how tightly these were packed. I packed mine more on top of that and I barely get any draw. But, they taste good, and half way through one I don't feel the need for another hit. Obviously because of the nicotine content. Overall a great smoke, just don't pack these when you buy them!

? bought a pack from Germany. The black pack called as Perique. Althought has a lot nicotine the taste was smooth and pleasant, slow burning, quality rare tobaccos, additive free which is mean that is less harmful(althought the anti-tobacco Nazi force tobacco companies to say "additive free doesn't mean a lower risk cigarette,it is true that additives is that makes main damage in cigarettes)     Good choice,i wish it was a little stronger 4/5

these are great, you know how Marlboros and Camels have little scraps in the cigarettes? well, i got news for ya, they are little bits of paper, tobacco stems, and basically left over tobacco, all flavored with a aqueous solution of nicotine, ammonia, glucose, flavoring and other crap so that nicotine can be felt by the body faster and the company can use less "real" tobacco because that's expensive. I been smoking for few years now, started on Marlboro 27s, then to the reds, then to camel turkish royals- these are all good tasting but much worse for your body, studies show that burning glucose in the cigarettes is what causes cancer... Compared to Winston "additive free" these are great. They have 25% more tobacco and it tastes good. They're stronger than I expected (1.79mg of nicotine) and the only bad thing I can say about them is that they're packed so damn tight it's hard to get a draw.

straight out of the pack these are awful -- i was really disapointed, as the unlit cigarettes smell wonderful. but! pulled apart and re-rolled the tobacco itself is lovely (with the added bonus that each cigarette has enough tobacco for 3 thinner roll-your-owns, making them not only pleasant but also pretty cheap). so: great tobacco, crap filter.

The MENTHOL American Spirits are wonderful. Great flavor, nice menthol(in the filter), and they feel lighter on your throat, even though they satisfy cravings very well. I have been comparing these to Newports, and although both are excellent, the Menthol American Spirits do NOT have the harshness to them. American Spirits produce lighter exhales... the exhale is finer, and isn't as noticeable as the Newports. And, for those who understand, the "freebase" is highest on these, at 36 percent, which means they should work better, without the additives(but it doesn't make you any more addicted, as claims have been written). They also last a little longer. My wife also really enjoys these. Definitely 5 stars for these!

This right here is my smoke, since I wont smoke anything with chemicals. I'll be honest and unbiased with the good and bad of this brand.Pros: Healthier alternative, last about 50% longer than other smokes.Cons: Draw is terrible, once in a while you'll get a good cig that will smoke nice, but 9/10 times you'll be sucking the shit out of these. This leads to a headache/nausea now and then until you learn how to smoke these right. Take slow drags. Sometimes rolling the cig between your fingers to loosen it up helps. I would gladly trade the 25% more tobacco if it meant a normal draw. The taste will depend on pack freshness, and personal preference. The people who say they taste "terrible" have smoked a bad pack, or just can't acquire a taste for something different. Personally I think the taste is average. I do wish they had a sweeter kick like Winstons or Seneca's (the only other "natural" brands I've tried). These cigs can become sickening after a while so I find myself smoking Winstons w... I just started smoking about a month ago and I thought that I had finally settled on one brand, that being Camel Turkish Golds. After reading some articles about how the high content of sugar in cigarettes is what mainly causes lung cancer, I was compelled to switch to these as there are no additives. I just picked up a pack of the lights and I am definitely a convert. These have all the smooth flavor of Camels and the burn longer, the only downside is that they are pretty expensive ($7.60 where I am). And come on, although they are forced to not say it, these HAVE to be healthier than other cigarettes. None of the "Truth" commercials would even apply to these as they are all about the myriad of additives in cigarettes. In conclusion, try them, please.

The draw sucks, but the flavor isn't bad. They don't taste like chemicals and they last forever. I always laugh whenever some guy lights up a Marlboro, points at my cigarettes and says "Those things taste like crap." Not the best smoke out there, but they're a good cigarette to smoke while talking to a few friends.

I love them except for the orange fingers! The burn 7 minutes longer in king size (ultra light) that a 100 length of any other cigarette I have smoked. The price seems to be going up though which has me looking for those who smoke Seneca to decide if it is a possible switch. These do not leave a bad or bitter taste in my mouth after a few hours or a day's smoking. Very clean if a cigarette can be so.
