Econo Lodge 5

I’ve been using hotelscombined.com for a couple years and now find it difficult to book hotels without it. Clean and simple - love the price comparison idea. One suggestion, please make it easier to look for rooms suitable for families and kids.

Since they are individually owned, they are sometimes dumps and sometimes very nice.

It could've been worse, but I'm not doing this ever again.

It was late, we were tired, and we weren't going to make it home, so we had to spring for another hotel room. My husband thought that Econolodge would have been cheaper than the Red Roof Inn where we stayed the night before. So, to make him happy, I let him make the arrangements.

I shouldn't have.

He has this habit of not asking for the price of things before accepting it. So, before I knew it, he had already paid for it, and it cost about the same as the cleaner-looking hotels a few exits earlier.

Maybe it's because I had such a nice experience the night before elsewhere, but I was pretty dissatisfied with the room. Thankfully, the giant roach was outside of the room, but the big spider who made his elaborate home by the bathroom was not. The carpet was kind of gross and sticky. The bathroom was kind of discolored. They at least had one bar of soap. Two out of four of the lights didn't work. It was clear to me that this room hadn't been occupied lately, and that housekeeping hadn't checked up on it for quite a while.

Again, every hotel is different, even within the chain. But due to this experience, I'll pass next time.

Not bad,but "Econo-Lodge" is a bit of a misnomer,as they are no cheaper than other comparable motels.

You get what you pay for---not my first choice (I'd stay at Super 8 or Red Roof Inn before this).....had a few noisy nights and poorly regulated A/Cs.

They are cheap (affordable) but also have limited accessories. If you want nothing extra and want a cheap price the Econo Lodge is clean, no frills and gets the job done.

Average cheap hotel, I do think it's better than Motel 6.

Reb, buddy, I'm not sure that this is a step up from a Motel 6.

Maybe a step above Motel 6, for what that's worth.

Cheap and clean. Poor choice of names however - there's nothing wrong with being an "affordable" place to stay, but there is no need to trumpet it everywhere... For example, "My girlfriend and I went to Key West and we stayed at this really quaint Econo Lodge, and the food was great...." .. It just doesn't sound right or something.
