Yea, there are a bunch of rollercoaster accidents the parks don't really tell you about before you jump on the rides haha.

I don't like not being in control...but they aren't that bad.

Generally speaking, no...although I've never gone on some of the really extravagant, elaborate and dangerous-looking ones that people seem to get worked up about on TV lately. Then again, the older I get, the less allure any amusement park rides have for me. For instance-- just this past Friday, a friend talked me into accompanying him and his 5-year old son to Rye Playland in NY. I agreed. I have very fond memories of Palisades Park, throughout the years I've always liked amusement park rides, I've been to Rye Playland a few times over the past decade and have enjoyed it, and I figured it would be a day off from work. Turns out, my friend wanted ME to go on the rides with his son while he downed fudge and crummy pizza (with the exception of the roller coaster, which he's always liked). The most innocuous of rides tend to make him sick (I remember being with him in Wildwood, NJ, during the early 80's; we went on some sort of suspended boat ride that swayed back and forth like a pendulum...it was ok, but not all that hairy...but he spent the next half hour crouched down, gagging just short of puking, deathly ill).

Reluctantly, I agreed-- I didn't want to disappoint the kid, I didn't want to concede that for the first time in my life the thought of braving rides that had never bothered me before was making me nervous, and I didn't want my friend, who was driving, throwing up all the way home if I forced him to take his kid on the rides his own damn self. As it turned out, my nervousness was justified. All the rides bothered me more than they ever used to. I'd step off dizzy, disoriented, queasy, while my friend's kid kept chattering on about "the next one-- let's ride the next one!" About the only ride that didn't bother me was the "Zombie House" (which, ironically enough, seemed to be the only ride that fazed the kid). One ride in particular...I think it was called "The Whip" and has been a staple of amusement parks ever since I was a toddler, if not long before...kept slamming me against the padded restraining bar (didn't help that the 5-year old was sorta instinctively using me as a cushion), and after it stopped, I staggered away from it, my ribs feeling as if I had just gone 5 rounds with the UFC heavyweight contender. Matter of fact, 3 days later and they still hurt.

The roller coaster? My friend's 5-year old didn't meet the height requirement (thank God!), my friend was having some belated doubts about going on himself, and we left before I was able to do more damage to myself.

I love roller coasters but I really don't care for the loops too much. To get ready for a roller coaster w/loops, I have to pump myself up to some James Taylor.

I've never liked roller coasters, don't know why because i like all other rides.

I have a regular "thrill fear" of roller coasters, IN GENERAL, however, I think that they're getting out of hand with them anymore. They're building them higher and steeper. They're going to keep going until someone dies mid-ride on one- SOMEWHERE, and I don't want to be that person who dies on one. I just don't ride them if they're too high or too steep.

I love roller coasters.one of the things I go on for the thrill and fear of it. There is this great adreniline rush that goes with riding on a roller coaster. Only bad part of roller coasters is they are so popular the long lines waiting to go on them. For the roller coaster lovers out there try Cedar Point for some of the best roller coasters out there.  it is fun being a bit scared. wish I could try some more.  the wooden roller coasters can be a rough ride since they jerk you around.

I used to be terrified until I learned to ride the coaster like a sled, or snow skis. Lean into the speed...

but I love them.
