DESIGNING WOMEN: Interior designer Arlene Lilie-Green has filed suit against the estate of her late business partner, antique maven and pet lover Mary Ann Allison.

Allison died in a fire at her Clarksville, Mo., house in February. She was trying to save her pets from the fire when she was overcome.

Allison and Lilie-Green were partners in the business of Lilie & Kovac, Ltd., which owns the building on McPherson Avenue in the Central West End in which Lilie-Green has her business, Arlene Lilie Interior Design.

The suit seeks to compel Allison’s surviving husband, Butch Allison, a Mizzou gridiron hall of famer and a former NFL player, to convey the estate’s interest in Lilie & Kovac, Ltd. to Lilie-Green at “book value.”

The estate is balking, Albert Watkins, an attorney for the Allison estate, said Saturday. He added: “The Shareholders Agreement governing the situation specifically states that the estate ‘may’ sell but is not required to.”

Jill Rembusch is the attorney for Lilie-Green.

I was my mother's partner in the beginning when we moved from Kirkwood to the CWE. Arlene and her daughter Sohaila Danish joined us and we treated them as our dearest friends and partners - to Sohaila - thank you for your beautiful letter to me after I lost my mom and my boys lost their Nanie - you told me that to ask if I needed anything - I want to ask you to search you heart about what your mom is doing - I want you to know that my mom and I would never do this to you - never in a million years - we have always treated you as family - and your mom is attempting to take from me and my children - something I would never do to you and your son. Please search your heart - is this what is truly right???? Haven't we all lost enough - this isn't about business - it is about doing the right thing - I will always be true to you and your family - my mother taught me to treat people like I want to be treated - so I will always treat you like gold - my promise to you.
