Very very very low customer service. Rude employees. The flight was delay for 2 hours, I missed my connection flight. I ordered Kosher meal, I even confirmed it the night before, they did not have it. The flight attendance lady respond was : we don;t have it, what do you want me to do. She goes I can give you more drinks. She did not even said I am sorry. She was acted like I was lying . The flight was over 19 hours. I was starving. I booked my ticket with the window seat, they changed my seat without notifying me. When I asked them why at the time of checking in, they said sorry there is nothing we can do. We have the right to change sits. I would never ever travel with them again, it does not matter how low the price is.

I am writting this reveiw 1and half year later because it still bugs me. My husband took a job in N.C and I was moving to be with him 6 mos. later.. My Husband and I decided for him to fly home from N.C. to Pa. to spend our week-end together so it would give him a break from driving again 9 hrs. I booked his flight with Continental.. HUGE MISTAKE!!! He was to leave Friday at 6:45pm. When he arrived to the airport it was wet out (raining) and was calling for snow. He sat for 2-3hrs before boarding the plane then sat on the plane another 2 hrs. By this time it is flurring snow. they said they had to de-ice the plane, after sitting on the plane for 2 hrs. they tell everyone to get off. and come back at 4am. So now its 12am and he leaves to go back at 4am like he was told. He sits there for hrs again looking at the plane he is flying on. They finally board only to be told they need to de-ice the plane. Almost 2 hrs again of sitting on the plane they finally take off. Now its 9... Read more

1 star This is the worst service I have ever encountered. I am on my 4th call to make a simple seat assignment change. This is after many atempts to use their completely lame web site. They have messed up my request 3 times and have the nerve to have placed 3 charges on my credit card, how do they stay in buisness?

Continental Travelers beware! I packed an extra Coach bag inside my luggage to bring on vacation yesterday and the bag inspectors stole it!!!!!!!!! Upon opening my luggage to unpack at my destination I noticed the bag was gone. I immediately called Continental and was advised, to my disbelief, that "I shouldn't have packed it in there." The woman "helping" me next began to explain to me an event called 9/11, as if we aren't all aware, and how apparently regulations thereafter provide Continental bag inspectors with a license to steal. I advised her I was of the impression that baggage inspections following 9/11 were to promote passenger and crew saftey, not theft of belongings from travelers. At that point she became upset and terminated the call. This moring I noticed that the theives also stole aproximately 1/2 of the medicine out of each of 3 prescription bottles I had packed in the luggage. Apparently Continental promotes the unprescribed use or dealing of prescription drug... Read more

I flew Continental on my last two flights, the first from Mexico City to Newark, and the second round tripf rom Newark to West Palm .On the first flight the airline broker the zipper off my new Brighton Bag. I did not realize it until I had the bag home, and tried to open it.Needless to say I couldn't open it ,and had to attach a paper clip to loop through the zipper ,since the pull had been broken off.I called the airline .They refused to compensate me by payng for a repair or replacing the bag for which I have a recent receipt. They have rules that require passengers to report the damage at the airport , but obviously I did not realize it until I tried to open the bag. A loyal Continental One pass flyer for years, I was grossly disappointed. Giving the airline another chance ,I flew them again on the round trip flight from Newark to West Palm. This one was really a joke. After passing thru security , I can say if there was any real danger , I would be in big trouble in the hands of... This airline is the worst!! I will never fly them again. I was going to go American but decided to go on Continental to save a few bucks. When all was said and done, my vacation was ruined and I ended up dishing out an extra couple hundred bucks more than had I just flown American non-stop. First, I had booked a round trip ticket from DFW to Miami. I decided to buy another ticket and fly into Tampa and drive to Miami with my sister. I informed Continental that I still intended to use my returning flight home. I paid the extra $180 dollars to go into Tampa with a stop in Houston. I was only allowed 35 minutes to get to my connecting flight in Houston. Being it was a "puddle jumper" into Houston, we were forced to put our luggage below. This only allowed 35 minutes to land, taxi, wait for our luggage and get to another terminal. Technically, I was only allowed 25 minutes considering they want you at the gate 10 minutes before departure. This, in my opinion, is virtually impo... Read more

I've flown CAL for three trips - two being international. They are a wonderful airline to fly! Simple check in, tight security, great staff. The food onboard is great as well. Sodas, water, juice is free but alcohol is $5 each - US cash only - unless you are first class. On time, typically early, and makes up for any delays. My first flight was from Houston to Tampa, Florida - roundtrip Second was Houston to London - nonstop - roundtrip Third was Houston to Newark, New Jersey to connect to Bristol, England. The flight home from Bristol was a day delayed for me due to the security scare in Newark (december 2010) - and they made up for it the next day and got me home. The only thing I can say that the airplanes themselves could use are comfier seats - not horrible or anything, but a little less stiffness would be nice :) It's a SHAME they are merging with AA.

BEWARE OF TRAVELING WITH CONTINENTAL AIRLINES. I had an international flight from HELL w/ this airline. I naively booked an international flight this month that had 2 stops. Meaning, I had to catch 3 different planes with this company. HUGE + COSTLY mistake. The first flight was late in taking off by 25 minutes. The second flight needed a "part" replaced on the plane. They estimated it would take 2-4 hours to do. Well, it ended up taking 7 hours. By that time, the cabin staff had worked already their maximum # hours and if they were to go past that, it would be illegal to keep them on the clock. So, continental made us get off the plane and had to put us up in a hotel. I was stuck in Switzerland and had to spend the night! This was a Sunday, Sept 19th. and I was supposed to be at work Monday. So much for that. I lost a day's pay ($200). They re-scheduled our departure flight for 7:30 am, Monday morning and told us to get there at 5 am to rearrange our connecting flights, instead... Read more

Consistently the worst airline I've ever been on. I cannot express just how much I dislike them. The staff are rude and useless. The seats are beyond cramped. We paid the same as everyone else to be stuck in an 'upright' position the entire 8 hour (delayed for no reason explained to us) because the buttons didn't work. They missed my girlfriends vegetarian meal and without an apology, literally dumped some bread on her lap. All these complaints have fallen on deaf ears to the complaint line. I'll never fly with them again.

was catching interconinental fligh to Europe, but had to make a stop in Newark from Boston first, all this under same fligth company Continental. Fligh from Boston got 5 hours delayed. Arrived to Newark at same time my international fligh was closing the gate rigth 2 gates way from mine. Any decent caring air companny would have hold the international fligth since the can spot in which plane is the passenger missing... had to wait one day for next fligth. Continental never again for me.

My husband and I flew from Puerto Vellarta, Mexico to Newark, N.J. on 5/22. Flight 717. Boarding was pleasant and easy. Made easier for us because we did not bring our carry on baggage on the plane. The flight attendants were not the friendliest. They were certainly not rude, but could have "smiled" a bit more. One man was friendlier than the other man and the one female. These were the FA's in coach, not first class. Our coach FA's were efficient and seemed very busy all of the time. At one point during the flight I had to take my evening medication, but did not have a bottle of water with me. I put the light on for the attendant and he responded after a minute or so. I requested the water for my meds, very apologetically and politely, , and was stunned at his response, which was, "we just passed water around a few minutes ago". I didn't know what to say. I wanted to say that I must have been dozing when the water came around. But he was so quick and he did bring me a glass of water ... Read more

Today I talked to continental airlines reps for good 3 hours(was on hold for about an hour). probably with10 people including supervisors. Here's my story... I'm a dental student who planed to go to Mexico for mission trip this July. Actually my school goes to mission trip every year to help under-served population all over the world. There are about 20 of us for this mexico trip. When my school planned this trip(early this year), the area we were about to go was not affected by drug cartel violence. But local contact Dr. recently contacted my school, and told us that the area is not safe anymore. So my school had to change the site to Dominican republic. When we first planned mexico mission trip, almost everyone in my mission trip had to apply for extra student loans to cover the cost. Yes. the cost is 100% out of students' pockets, and yes. we borrowed money to help other people. So, all of us was trying to get at least $150 change fee waived by the continental airlines. All o... The worst experience of my life. I have never EVER been treated with more disrespect, contempt or disregard than I was by the employees of this airline. The worst part of this whole three day nightmare (3-5hours on hold, 16hrs stuck in the airport, flight canceled two days before it had even started snowing, attitudes from all employees, never making to my trip!) is that not one person involved with this whole disaster ever bothered to say “I’m sorry”, for your inconvenience, wasting your time, or flat out lying to my face. I WILL NEVER EVER FLY CONTINENTAL AGAIN

I understand that under its shaky new leadership, Continental is going through even more troubles than are other airlines. So the fact that I had two cancelled flights, an undesired overnight in a layover city (losing a whole business day), and three seriously delayed flights in a single week wasn't really what made me mad. It wasn't even that I was treated rudely when I tried to get help in Cleveland. Nor was it even that Continental hung up on me twice, or that it finally took my complaints...and then I never heard from them again. It's more that today, January 31, 2010, was the straw that broke the camel's back. I had made a flight reservation using my frequent flyer miles, and got a confirmation number. I only wanted to change the name of the traveler, and the website clearly said that this could only be done over the phone. So I waited through the usual wait time (I'm not complaining that it was ten minutes when it said it'd be three; these things happen) to talk to a fellow ... Read more

I'm giving two stars for the price, they are cheap to fly...usually. But the planes are terrible. Last flight I was on the front cabin bathroom was not working and the back was clogged up with pee and toilet paper, gross. To make things worse there was no soap....really?! The only reason I travel continental is because they go through houston which is great in the winter...flights were pretty much on time.

excerpt from a letter I sent to CEO Larry Kellner the day after a dreadful flight 466 SJU-EWR on 12/22/09: Yesterday, December 22, I boarded your flight 466 from SJU to EWR, looking forward to the usual courteous treatment from your cabin attendants. To my astonishment, not only were your two attendants in First Class (I was in seat 2 B) totally unable to smile or show much interest in your passengers throughout the flight, but one of them rebuked me insolently, in a manner so rude and stunning that the passengers in proximity commented on it. Soon after boarding one of the attendants (the older and taller of the two; she seemed to be the lead attendant in First Class) distributed snack bags of walnuts to the passengers. There being no occupant in the seat next to me (2 A), I assumed that both of the two walnut bags that she had placed on the pull out tray next to me were for me so I consumed them. A few minutes later that same attendant stopped next to me in the aisle and asked me,... Read more

Continental...SUCKS! My family and I were flying first class from Newark to Delhi and had this trip planned out for months. We got to elite check in where the line was not that big so we thought everything would go smooth from there...WRONG. We waited on line for over an hour to be told that our gate had already been closed, yet there was an hour left before the planes' departure. They told us to go downstairs to regular check in to see if anything could be done. So we run downstairs, and we see about 5 other people in the same situation. The real reason the "gate was closed" was because Continental over booked this flight and really bumped us off the plane and did not want to deal with the argument. They said they would put us on "stand by" for another flight that would leave two days later. The lady behind the counter even told me that we would not be flying first class anymore since this flight was not first class to begin with. I had booked this whole trip first class, re-confirme... Worst experience. My brother booked the ticket in April 2009 from continental website his Nov 2009 journey. When he went for checkin (4 hours before flight time) He came to know that flight is overbooked, continental staff was not ready to talk, they blammed him that travel agent gave him ticket even if flight was ovebooked it is not their resposibility. After 2-3 hours arguments, he was able to get seat at 2 different location for him and his wife who was travelling with 3 month infant. When they was about to enter in the flight, air attendance told them they cannot take their carry bag inside flight. My brother and wife requested them many times to let them carry a small bag since it contains baby's dipper/cloths/formula but attendance staff was not ready to listen. Finally he just removed few dippers and formula from bad and kept it in small plastic bag. In other hand bag he had some original documents for visa and jwellary the bag was not locked since it was carry on but airline st... Read more

Didn't even fly yet and I already getting shafted by Continental. Truly amazing. Ok so here goes. This review is in regards to not only customer service, but point one pass milage discrepencys and just plain information discrepency over all. On 10/11/09 I called up Continental international customer service number for cities in other internation locations at the number of 800.231.0856. The first call that I made was with a gentleman that after a looooooong time stated that there was a flight available at the price of 110,000 points. I thanked him very much and hung up. Our flight from Houston to Newark was delayed, then in Newark they are late with bringing up our stroller that we had checked in at the gate in Houston, so while we're waiting for the stroller we're fixing to miss our next flight. So when I run to the next gate with my 1-year old in my arms, asking them how much time we have left before they close the boarding, they start demanding my last name so they can take us off the flight. I'm telling them we WILL make it on this flight even if it means we have to leave the stroller behind - who cares about the stroller if we're facing to spend the night at Newark airport with a little child? But they are so rude and disrespectful - tell me they don't need to hear it and just keep on demanding my last name. When i tell them they don't need to be so rude to me when it's their company that's messing things up here, they tell me they don't need to hear it and at the end threaten to take us off the flight altogether. RIDICULOUS, HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Continental Airlines should not be in hospitality business, they should clean toilets at the airports and I am sure they will do a terrible job at that as well. They gave my father 61 yrs of age and my grandfather 85 on wheelchair the hardest time at the Dulles international airport in DC. One of our bags was over by 2 pounds the the very rude lady "Ruby" at the customer service desk was rude about tellilng my father to take things out of his bag to reduce the weight of the bag. This was nothing, the icing on the cake is that they let my grandfather fly all the way to newark and told him at the airport that according to a crazy rule of theirs my 85 year old grandfather can not fly oversees even though he had proof of dual citizenship. He had to fly back to DC and unfortunately would have to fly with this LOW LEVEL AIRLINES again on thursday. Continental airlines needs to go out of business, close shop and GO HOME!!! I wish I could give them a minus score- they are so bad I was treated like shit by them- I cant explain how many things they did wrong so I am attaching the letter I wrote them To Whom it May Concern: It was my first time traveling with Continental Airlines and the staff and experience in Los Angeles, CA was great and friendly- this was not the case however in London. My cousin, her 2 children and I were traveling together and we had the same flight going to London, but we were on 2 different flights coming back I was on CO67 and she was on CO5, but they were both on the same day 8/17/09. We went to check in our bags together as I was trying to get on the same flight as her- all the lady at the check in counter said was "start with the heaviest bag" so we did and we placed all 6 bags on the belt, she didn't ask who's bag belonged to who nor did she care, I didn't get her name but she was a white woman with brown hair-her hair was pulled back and she had very light blue eyes. I am an American living in Paris so I fly back and forth a few times a year to Newark and Houston. The Houston crews are generally friendly and easy going, this makes the trip easier as its an 11 hour flight. The Newark crew is awful, unpleasant and intimidating. They seem to think you are doing them a favour by flying with them. Where is the quality control with this group. I complained to the flight service manager named "Linda" and she just raised her eyebrows and said really, sounds unusual. Its not unusual, the Newark crew are thugs, both the men and women are in the wrong jobs. Please Continental do some upgrading here, there were a lot of unhappy passengers on my flight and we shouldn't have to feel that from the crew.

During 2 flights last year in route to Cancun we received and observed the worst treatment of people ever experienced in over 28 years of travel! The flight attendants were rude and combative in more than one situation. At one point, after an exchange about access to the lavatory, and attendant stood in front of a passenger and asked are you going to pout like my 3 yr old? I observed this from across the isle so be assured there was no mistaking what I heard. For myself I attempted to ask an attendant a question (not knowing at the time she was counting heads) and she told me very curtly NOT KNOW. I said well excuse me and she continued to count heads. Several minutes later she returned and asked me "What was so important that it could not wait?". Keep in mind several minutes had past and she returned to me with a strong chip/attitude. Clearly the team lacks in professional polite manners. We have not returned to Continental since and will not!! ! !

Continental were quite good to fly with. We flew with them last year a few times to get around the U.S, I was shocked when I boarded my first Continental, I practically had to bend over a bit to get in, and I'm not that tall at all!! It was very squishy, hardly any room for legs, almost no aisle at all, I don't how broader people would fit in the chairs!! The flight attendants (only one, coz the air craft is so small) on all the flights were quite polite. In the air they bump around a bit, you could possibly imagine you were on a roller coaster....most of the family didn't really like that much, and nick-named these small American airplanes...."Grasshoppers"....for their size (I guess they are so small coz they are only flying domestically and flights were quite short, 1/2 hour to 3 hours). I gave them four stars because I am thankful i got home safely! And their price is quite resonable. I think I will fly with them again

I had a such a bad experience flying with them, i cant imagine to ever happen to me again. i had to reach to attend a ceremony and cant afford to miss that, i was at the airport 40 minutes before and the crew at airport didnt let me in say i was late as the gates are closed 35 minutes before departure, cos they thought the flight was at 3:40 where in it was at 3:45 and i reached the airport at 3:05. the crew at airport were so rude and they didnt talk to me properly and were so irresponsible and i pleaded them so much to allow me as i could make through the security also. i had travelled to so many destinations around the world and this is my first experience in my life where i had missed the flight. I have seldom met with a harder to reach customer service or more difficult refund procedure. This is the last airline I would recommend to anyone who is planning to travel since once they have your payment they refuse to return it even should your travel plans change. The time spent waiting to talk to a representative is also a waste of a good portion of the aftenoon.

On February 10, 2009, my wife was returning to Tampa from San Diego. She had been on a bachelorette cruise with a college friend who was getting married. She wanted to do something special for me for Valentine's so she decided to purchase a bottle of Crown Royal XR from the duty free on the cruise (only $140 there compared to $180+ retail). Unfortunately when she opened her luggage back in Tampa, the box in which the Crown Royal Bottle was in was empty. Stolen from her bag. And the thieves knew what they were taking as well, since they did not take a bottle of wine which was also in the luggage. After immediately calling Continental and detailing the case they instructed me I had to go online and print out the paperwork to file my claim (corporate red tape policy in hopes of me not completing the claim I am sure.) I was instructed over the phone it may take up to 10 weeks for any determination! Regrettably it only took 4 weeks to get a letter stating Continental does not cover alcoh... Read more

First time on Continental round trip HKG-Newark terrible carrier do not recommend it. Rude flight attendants and disorganise boardring procedure at Newark. I requested special meal (low fat/cholesterol) but did not get it. Instead was given eggs for breakfast, beef and cheese sandwich and icecream for snack and steak for lunch. Needless to say I did not eat the meals. Luckily I had prepared some sandwiches otherwise would have been very hungry during the 16 hour flight. For the same price I could have travelled on Cathay - which I will next time.

I am having to spend 12 hours overnight in Newark thanks to them. They got me to Newark late, and they told me that the weather in Houston somehow affected my flight from Quebec city to Newark. Some other agents told me it was air traffic control. So no one had the same story but they wouldn't even apologize for making me miss my connecting flight. Not to say that they recommended I get to Newark as opposed to just staying in Quebec.

I flew from Dallas to Houston and back. Was impressed with the staff until I arrived from my flight with 12 people on board, and the two of us that checked luggage never received them. It's been 24 hours now and still no one can tell me anything. What a joke. I've heard everything from the pilot may not have allowed them on the plane so that it wasn't overloaded (again with 12 people on board) to the pilot may not have allowed them on board since the plane was so light on passengers and he didn't want the underbelly to be overloaded. Their ground and customer service crew are terrible. Oh, and did I mention that the last time I flew with them they lost my bag also. Believe me, this is the last time I will select them.

Ah yes, the complimentary mint juleps are fab. Seriously though, I think Continental is one of the better airlines out there. I don't think I've ever flown them where they weren't on time.

Continental Airlines was terrible at Newark Airport. Had tickets to fly home, and ended up taking the train to get to the airport and the same thing happened when I returned from my overseas flight. They said it was weather related, but the weather report on the TV monitor about the heads of the "customer relations" desk said differently. It was fine from the originating city to Newark airport. They said differently. I will never use Continental again. This was my first and it will be my last time. This was on August 2 and August 10th, 2008

Further to my post of yesterday, the kids finally got home after a gruellingly long 24hr journey. The CO agent at Newark took them to the wrong gate for the connecting CO flt to Austin, and they then had to run to reach the correct gate, boarding barely 6 min before the plane doors closed! Not surprisingly their baggage did not accompany them. CO has promised to deliver this today. Let us see.

Out of all the crappy US carriers, this one is about the best. I flew to Seattle last October from Raleigh/Durham. and was re- routed instead of going to houston, we had to land in Mississippi somewhere for the night. They were nice and pleasant and put us all up in Hotels. We eventually made  it the next day.All in all I was impressed with this airline, but it seems they have reduced their service, like most of the other carriers due to high fuel prices.

Once again, crappy service, no help, rude, and yes you guessed it: STILL DELAYED. Amazing...other flights are getting out but we keep getting bumped to the one that gets delayed. 30+ hours and counting, still stuck in Newark.
