guess it would depend what i got locked in. i would hope someone would hear me. have heard of people who get stuck in enclosed places such as a private elevator and no one finds them for day. or something else like that. I imagine the longer time went by it could get more upsetting.

A buddy of mine is a Navy Submariner and as a prank when he was new, they shut him in a torpedo tube for a couple minutes. That must have sucked...

For me the problem is not being locked in an enclosed place, for me the problem is who is with me. If I'm alone there's no problem, but if there's someone with me, I can't stop thinking that the other person will lose the control and something bad will happen.

Especially if you were locked in with a droning troglodyte.

We all suffer from claustrophobia at one level or the other.

I have this dream where i'm wearing a heavy jacket and i crawl into a narrow tunnel to save kid or grab a diamond or whatever and when i try to back out my jacket gets bunched up and i cant go forward or backward and i'm stuck there forever i cant push my way out i cant move but i can breath and see and no one's going to come and get me out. i would go completely insane in no time.

I hate the feeling! When you are in jail you get so freaked out about not being able to just so wherever you want!

It's weird I'm fine on most planes, although one time I  was on a small regional jet flight and it sat on the runway waiting for a gate.for an hour then i started getting upset, and feeling like I could not breathe. But the worst ever episode I had was when I had to get an MRI test done after i got in a wreck,it is shaped like a tube,a very very small tube. and the nurse gave me a button to press if i got upset, needless to say I only got in shoulder deep 3 times before I was pressing the emergency button.they sedated me 3 times and I still could not do it.

Not something that I think anyone would enjoy unless there is something wrong with the old blockhead.

Is it possible to be locked in a non enclosed place? Did the author mean locked in a tight space?

I can freak out if someone pins my arms down, or if an elevator I am in breaks, or if just in fun someone holds a blanket over my head.

I've been locked in my great-grandma's old-fashioned self locking closet in her old Victorian house. I hated it, I screamed for about an hour until she found me.

Claustophobia doesn't scare me, although for a lot of people, tight spaces are intolerable.

Normally, I would have to say no but it all depends on the situation. If it was something like Randyman's, that would be frightening. Or if something happened where I was in a building, and the door shut and locked me in a room which no one goes to, and I am forced to stay there for the whole night. That would be scary, especially knowing your family at home are worrying about you.

I'm not claustrophobic, so I'd say not scary, but I guess it would depend on just what is meant by being "locked" in an "enclosed space". Experiencing the kind of episode Randyman recounted definitely would scare me.

In a cave surrounded by snakes, spiders and bats would definitely be scary.

I have panic attacks in closed spaces. I guess it doesn't help that I have asthma either. This whole thing becomes more of an issue though when people are in with me. I dind't even know I had this problem until my freshman year of high school when 5 people were trying to get into a walk-in closet/bookcase in my education class.

I didn't see a rating for being buried alive, but this is close enough. When I was a kid one summer, between sixth and seventh grade, '65 or '66, My friends and I were digging a tunnel from my backyard to my friend Richard's backyard, one house over. That day my friend Ricky L. and his little brother, whose name I can't recall, were working on the tunnel, digging sraight down and making a wide hole. The hole was about five feet deep and we decided to start digging sideways toward Richards house. well it started getting scary and Ricky and his brother didn't want to go back in, well being the idiot that I was, I jumped right in with a small hand spade. Well I don't have to tell you, that in keeping in the great tradition of being an idiot, we put no support beams, anything, in the tunnel. I was down there for about five minutes, when suddenly, and I do mean suddenly, everything was black. I had no idea what had happened. I tried to slide out, but couldn't move. It was then that I reali... Read more

When I had an MRI I got kinda freaked out. I knew I was going to get out okay but something in my subconcious was saying what if these people are going to trap you in here? I started thinking about other things and stuck through it.
