One of the best shows in the past decade!!! Larry David is a genius. The only complaint I have, and trust me, I complain about EVERYTHING is that there are too many years between seasons. It's a tease.

Seinfeld on crack. Even more outlandish with more socially unacceptable behavior. This show truely makes the deplorable funny. Not to mention everyone who watches the show secretly is living vicariously through the character Larry David. Come on, who hasn't wanted to act in a socially unacceptable manner in order to justify their point of view ie Larry's laborate plans to eventhe score.

An amazing show, but not for everyone, as it has a very impromptu feel and revolves around funny aspects of everyday life. I consider it to be the show that Seinfeld tries to be. Larry David is a quirky guy who seems to have trouble keeping his thoughts to himself. I love that he always seems surprised to find himself in the ridiculous situations that he does.

The best show ever. If you took all those great Seinfeld moments and condensed it to 30 minutes you have typical Curb episode. Brilliant.
goldenmom7500 07/06/2008
So funny. Amazing; wonderful; don't let your kids watch it though ...

Soo good. Larry David is amazing.

Original and on-point in this overly PC world. Could use a little tightening at times, but thank goodness Larry D demonstrates life's absurdities

I have tried to watch this several times because of the critics getting the vapors over this show, I guess. I never got through a session, and since then I have been able to curb my enthusiasm to watch this junk. Seinfeld was definitely the height of his success. This dreck is awful!

Probably my favorite show on TV right now. I always appreciated the quality and talent involved in the making of "Seinfeld" and I often laughed but I was never really a great fan. To me, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is a darker, more caustic version of "Seinfeld" and it's absolutely hilarious, penetrating, and insightful. The recent episode where Larry pretended to be an Orthodox Jew in order to help his friend Richard Lewis get a kidney transplant had me in tears. What's the difference, besides the fact that David can be more "creative" and open on Cable? Hard to say. In both shows, the characters are mean-spirited, self-involved Yuppies. In "Seinfeld," they were presented as "cute" and we were supposed to embrace them and find their narcissism attractive, appealing. In "Curb Your Enthusiasm" there's no pretence involved; no punches are pulled regarding the ugliness and pettiness of Larry and his cronies. I know my ex-girlfriend, who definitely qualified as a "Yuppie", loved "Seinfeld" but hated "Curb Your Enthusiasm" with an intense passion. I know guys supposedly like it more than women. If David wasn't such a comic genius, I think these episodes would be profoundly depressing in what they say about our human condition. Thankfully, David is a comic genius, and the supporting cast is excellent, particularly Jeff Garlin as David's long-suffering business manager...he comes across as Oliver Hardy on Lithium. Again, not everyone's cup of tea, but, to me, this is one of the best, if not the best, show on TV.

Larry David is almost a genius. Loved Seinfeld.....loved Curb even more.

This is possibly the worst, most annoying show I've ever seen. I liked it better the first time I saw it, when it was called SEINFELD. Yes, I know the weird strange quirky character of Seinfeld is based on Larry David. But there's a huge difference...Jerry Seinfeld is actually funny and has great comic timing. Larry David is just a creepy old guy that I would not let anywhere near my children (if I had any). He tries way to hard..."Look at me! Look at me! I'm weird, I'm strange, I'm Larry David and everyone has to love me"! What a narcissistic Jag! I REALLY wish someone could explain the appeal of Larry David to me and make me understand why everyone thinks he is so damn funny.

Best show on tv period.
theshouser 08/15/2005
I could watch Larry David sit on a park bench for a half an hour and laugh my butt off.
ClassicTVFan47 06/25/2005
Competely uncreative, poorly-acted nonsense that drips pessimism, cynicism and bitterness. Totally and wholly unappealing in all aspects.

I can relate to some of the things that happen on this show. People can take things too seriously. I like the character of Suzie Green. She is a mean person, but can be a sweetheart at times. Very funny character.I liked last seasons episodes of The Carpool Lane and The Five Wood. Never watched Seinfeld, but great show.

People who don't like this show don't have a sense of humor. It's great.

The best show on television. CYE is totally plotless - it just follows the socially challenged Larry David and friends around through unscripted, mundane activities: going to the store, driving to a meeting, eating at a restaurant. The reason that the show is so funny is that David is just impossible to deal with. He inadvertently pisses people off wherever he goes - whether it be refusing to sing happy birthday because he thinks the song is dumb, or turning down a tour of his friend's house because he gets it, or getting kicked out of a store for insisting to refold a shirt he just tried on. He's stubborn, irritating, and oddly charismatic. Great cameo appearances on the show as well - Ted Danson, Mel Brooks, Ben Stiller, etc. It's really a strange show, but I'm pretty hooked on it.

I've got to admit, this show takes a while to get used to, but once you get what they are trying to be funny about, there is nothing better on TV. It is one of the only shows I laugh out loud (by myself). My only advice is to watch it a few times before you pass judgment. Once you get to appreciate Larry David's character, it is comedy at its best.

best show ever...larry david is what it sounds like in my mind
Damifino 01/20/2005
I've only become hooked on this show in the last few months, catching it on DVD (I don't yet have HBO). Absolutely hilarious. I've heard it described as what Seinfeld would be like if it were on cable, which is half right. I'd add that CYE, in addition to showing the adult-oriented travails of the real-life George Costanza, also adds some excellent improv to the mix--I've read that Larry David and most of the rest of the cast don't follow a rigid script. That adds a certain spontenaity to CYE that even Seinfeld couldn't capture. My one and only gripe would be that some scenes and storylines are a bit politically-charged, and I'm no fan of Larry's politics. Forget about all that though, and you'll find that CYE is a treat to watch.

Definately in a handful of the funniest shows, ever.

When I'm down and out, which happens quite often, nothing makes me feel better that to tune into Curb Your Enthusiam.
happyjulia 11/12/2004
It took a couple episodes to get the feel, but it is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Larry David keeps you astonished and uncomfortable the whole time. What can be better than that? I like Cheryl Hines, she has a very dry sense of humor, which is a great balance to Larry David's wackiness
Mr.Political 11/10/2004
HYSTERICAL! The ending always has some type of ironic twist. The actors all are pretty well talented and while I dissaprove of David's politics, I find the show itself very funny.

a 4.5. We are just getting a chance to know this show. It is quite funny. Larry David one of the creators of Seinfeld is the star. I hear it is partially improvised. He manages to get in trouble in every episode. in some of the funniest ways. He gets a lot of guest stars, even some of the Seinfeld actors appear. I can sure see the George Castanza role in Larry David in the show. very funny show look forward to seeing more of it.

THIS SHOW TOTALLY SUCKS. Larry David is a moron.
alpepper 06/25/2004
We don't get HBO; but they now sell CYE DVDs at Blockbuster. I know that Larry David was the real genius behind Seinfeld. No one can create comical angst like Larry. This show captures the embodient of raw angst. After viewing about 10 episodes after the past couple of weeks, you can almost predict the web of angst. The show essentially is the cerebral equivalent of watching Larry continuosly slipping on a banana peel or to forever be the SCHLAMAZEL in every human interaction he is involved in. Maybe once, I would like to see a happy ending. Still, the show is funny, sometimes outright hilarious; but not as good as Seinfeld.
myomy 06/09/2004
Larry David is a genuis. This show is the best comedy on tv.
mpmermaid 06/03/2004
When this show first aired, I thought HBO had finally made a mistake in its superior run of quality programming. But by show 3, I was hooked. I can identify with Larry David so much -- I too am a person who simply should never walk out my front door because I end up in the middle of more mishigas than could ever be considered tolerable by a human being! Although, admittedly, I do let things alone a little more easily than he does!
heins57 04/12/2004
It funny but in a strange way
evileye 04/01/2004
I love this comedy!!!! He's strange, but at the same time extremely interesting!!! A very talented man!!
leon_phelps 03/04/2004
I never loved Seinfeld, but I love this show. It IS the best thing on TV at this moment. The guy is such an idiot and is hated by so many, you can't tell if he's really an ass or not. The casting is great, especially the supporting extras. If I was married to Jeff's (Larry's agent) wife, I would smother myself in my sleep. Hilarious.
tototoo 11/29/2003
Larry David is strange but somehow interesting.
StanUzbeck 11/21/2003
I understand that this Larry fellow was one of the creators of Seinfeld and the original inspiration for George Costanza. Well, I never liked Seinfeld, hated it in fact, even though I like Jason Alexander as George. I watched Curb Your Enthusiasm two or three times and I realized just exactly why this guy was not cast on Seinfeld. He may be a good writer and all-around interesting fellow, but his acting sucks, and he has no real charisma - fatal to anyone with pretenses towards an acting career. This show is like Seinfeld, but less obnoxious (to me), but also less funny.
JoeCool 06/19/2003
I'm sorry, I was a Seinfeld watcher and so watching this was painful. Larry David projects the image of all the Seinfeld characters into his. He's crazy like Kramer, nervous like George and has lines that I can hear Jerry Seinfeld say. You'd think this was a good thing, but it isn't. He is like a complete loser on this show. To have all these bad traits rolled into one person makes me have no sympathy for him whatsoever. I feel nothing, he deserves all the crap that he gets because he's an idiot (on the show). I gave this show 3 tries, and it struck out. It was so bad. I wouldn't have even given it so many chances if I didn't like Richard Lewis. I tried to like it, but ended up hating it.
queen_kates79 04/20/2003
The BEST comedy of ALL TIME. Enough said!
tvmoviemusicfr ek 03/23/2003
What can i say but it sucks
ratemaster1984 02/23/2003
Very funny show! Larry David always gets himself into some kind of trouble.
darthryan01 01/20/2003
This is the funniest show on TV right now, and probably the funniest show ever made. People that don't like it really need to give it a chance, you need to watch it more than a couple of times to truly appreciate the genius that is Curb Your Enthusiasm. Hey, it didn't win a Golden Globe for best comedy for nothing.
Drapes 10/23/2002
This series is great. It has Seinfeld like stories and ideas thoughout, but doesn't try to remake or replace that show.
izzird1 10/01/2002
This show is fantastic!!! If you were or are a Seinfeld lover please give this show a chance. You have to to get past the somewhat shaky hand-held camera & improvisational style of the show. But once the show clicks, trust me, you'll be hooked for life. It's almost scary.
marsobig 07/16/2002
Show about nothing. I liked every minute of the episode that I saw. David fights with Richard Lewis over a gold bracelet. David doesn't tip the 'captain.' Pays dearly.
portblazerfool 06/27/2002
Larry David proves the post-Seinfeld failure flu wrong with "Curb Your Enthusiasm." This is one of the few programs on tv that I rush to the couch to watch. A little advice to HBO: Put this thing on DVD!
callmetootie 07/31/2001
So strange that it is terrible.
