Classic sandwich. I prefer it with strawberry jam and creamy (not crunchy) peanut butter. A peanut butter & jelly sandwich goes awesome with a cold glass of whole milk!

It's cheap, tastes OK and travels well. In my youth, I absolutely detested peanut butter, but now I find it to be quite reasonably edible. I prefer the organic kind you have to stir up, spead sparingly on whole grain bread with raspberry jam or orange marmalade.

Disgusting. I have never been able to stomach this particular combination, even as a child.

It's like childhood comfort food . We probably all ate it in mass amount growing up, but learned to make and eat other things along the way. On occasion though, I want a comfort food again - something fast and easy, something that will practically take me back to those days. PB&J; does that for me...

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are not something that I eat on a regular basis, but every once in a while I'll get a craving for it. I think not eating it all that often just makes it taste all the better.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have their place in the world, but as an adult I don't ever find myself seeking them out.

The immortal PB and J. I always make them super sticky, with a lump of Skippy or Jif (whichever costs less at any given moment) and a grand gob of Welches grape jelly that will get everywhere if I do not make haste in devouring the evil creation before it collapses.

This was the old standby when I was a kid in the 1940's and it still works for me.   Back in those days the peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth so you had to butter the bread.  Now the manufactureres put oil in the PB to solve that problem.

Who doesn't like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? It's a treat for the kid in all of us. My personal favorites are grape or strawberry and peanut butter.  I can tell you this. I have never met a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that I didn't like.

sometimes a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich is nice to have. i like either strawberry or rasberry jam.  more often than not it is toast. but i still will have it on regular bread. it is quick to make. always liked peanut butter anyway.

My tried and true favorite! It was the first thing I learned to "cook" when I was little.

It's the quickest and simplest food that I consider to be a meal. But you gotta have crunchy peanut butter, or it just tastes plain.

Peanut Butter is only good if it has chocolate around it, under it or on top of it.

Pair a pbj with a glass of milk, and you've got a complete meal.. My mom used to cut my pjs into two triangle shaped slices which made me feel as though as I were consuming a gourmet treat. I like my pbjs on wheat bread with strawberry preserves, though in my younger days grape jelly was good enough for me. I agree with Kamy;please do not leave jelly in my peanut butter or peanut butter in my jelly. And yes, Kamy, I've seen those jars of peanutbutter and jelly all mixed up and they repel me. Now you can even find premade pbjs which you put in the microwave. I've never had them, but a friend of mine says her kids like them. They are missing out on a unique rite of passage!

How can you NOT like PBJs? I also agree with winter_spirit, I HATE seeing globs of peanut butter in my jar of jelly. I had to get used to seeing bread crumbs in my butter, jelly and peanut butter jars (thanks to my husband), but I absolutely put my foot down on the peanut butter thing. Anyway, what's up with those freaky jars of peanut butter AND jelly? The ones that you buy where there's alternating rows of both? Is this world so damn lazy that you can't just get the stuff out of two jars? Come on, folks. Does anyone actually buy it like that?

I agree Winter_Spirit. Sometimes I use Jelly on toast and I don't want Peanut Butter on it. I always clean the butter knife when making these sandwitches.

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich washed down with a glass of chocolate milk, and all is right with the world.

PBJ's are okay I guess. Their not gross, although its definetely not my first choice for a sandwhich. Their okay once in a while.

As long as I switch knives (which can be annoying), I'm perfectly content with a peanut butter and jelly (any berry flavor... yum!) sandwich... just as long as I don't get jelly remains in the peanut butter jar or vice versa.

PB&J; (as it is often affectionately called) was and is an old stand-by favorite among kids and adults alike. It would not be uncommon to see this timeless classic in a student's lunch box along with a Twinkie and a banana. One may even see a construction worker, on his break, biting into one of these. Personally, my favorite sandwich combo is pepperoni and Swiss cheese, but occasionally, I'll opt for simplicity and eat peanut butter and jelly. It hits the spot all the same.
