If it wasn't for the last season being great it would only have got 2 stars, but with new writers for the final season they breathed new life into a show that was otherwise stagnant.

It was okay, but after Voyager I was expecting so much more

Never could get into the series.
Edd10 01/02/2007
A pretty decent sci-fi series actually, but alongside Voyager this series is not a patch on DS9, TOS or even the highly overrated TNG. The first season on hindsight was not too bad, with only the second season truly sucking. But it really came into it's own during the Xindi arch and when Manny Cotto was added to the burnt out creative team - but by then Enterprise lost most of it's audience.

I love the show. I like any Trek there is out there. Call me a geek but it beats the living hell out of Grey's Anatomy, Blue Collar TV or any of the multitude of mindless sitcoms or infotainment posing as news out there. It was a pleasant diversion...oh well, at least we still have reruns. TV generally sucks rotten eggs anyway. 500 channels and 4 TVs in this house and we still prefer our books to them any day!

Some Star Trek fans thought that Star Trek Enterprise was a disappointment as compared to other Star Trek spinoffs because the show's producers did a really bad job of writing and handling the show's plots and season arcs: Here are the 10 Top Reasons Enterprise why it was considered such a failure: 10. Bad Science- Whole episodes were based on a misunderstanding of basic science, such as "Dear Doctor", where Archer and Phlox agree on genocide for a whole planet because the writers don't understand evolution. Or "Broken Bow", where the Klingon Homeworld was only five days away at Warp 4.5. Hair continues to grow after you're dead. Hull breaches can be patched with mashed potatoes. Archer can survive for 40 seconds in hard vacuum. 9. One-Trick Hoshi - Her character was based on an ability, translating languages. Then they realized that having half the episode being Hoshi trying to figure out the language would be boring, so they went back to the old standby of the Universal Translator working every time. As a result, the actress had nothing to do, because they didn't develop her. The sad thing is that Linda Park is actually a pretty good actress if you give her something to do. They proved that in the alternate universe episodes. 8. Evil Vulcans- They took the most beloved aliens in the Trek universe, perhaps in all of Science Fiction, and turned them into a bunch of brain-raping, lying, backstabbing bigots. We saw them cheat on treaties, support oppressive governments and deny medical care to their own. Why did the producers and writers go out of their way to ruin the reputation of these famous Star Trek alien characters? 7. Travis Who? - The character of Travis Maywether was reduced very quickly to "the Token Black Guy". He either got only a few perfunctory lines or was totally absent from most episodes. The problem is this guy really can't act, and I think that became apparent to the writers/producers fairly early on, but they didn't want to fire him or kill him off. 6. Lack of military things - You'd never think that these were professionals with years of training before they were sent into space. They seemed to relate to every problem with "Oh, gosh, what do we do now?" NASA doesn't send folks up without procedures for every contingency. They had a contingency for the Apollo missions of what to do if your capsule inadvertently landed in hostile territory. We are to believe that Star Fleet didn't have a first contact protocol, and STILL didn't have one four years later after Archer had contacted dozens of races. 5. T'Boobs - A lot of good actresses applied for the role of T'Pol, and who exactly did they hire? Jolene Blalock, a underwear model?!? And it looks like they hired the underwear model, where she looks good in a catsuit, but can't carry a scene if the fate of the galaxy depended on it. But of course if she does not have any acting experience or talent, then why should anyone be so surprised! Then there was the way they presented her character, which was for a bunch of T&A; jokes. I think Jolene Blalock has some integrity. She admitted they were making crap. 4. That awful theme song. I keep expecting Robin Williams to pop into Sick Bay with a big red clown nose. Trek should have majestic themes that express the vastness of space, not some recycled Christian Pop Rock. But someone probably thought, "Hey, CSI has "Who are you" for a theme song, what can we afford?" 3. Dumbed Down writing - TNG and TOS drew on the classics of literature and SF to do stories, from Shakespeare to Asimov. Enterprise seemed to rely on poop jokes and boob jokes. Nothing really challenging for the viewer. 2. Spoiled Continuity - encountering the Borg and Ferengi 200 years before Picard, and besting them. Romulans with Cloaks a 100 years before Kirk. Not only didn't it make for good stories, but it invalidated the adventures of those later crews. 1. Capt. Sissy-Boy Archer - If someone was horribly miscast, it was Scott Bakula. Simply, he did not have the command presense required for the role. He is great for an everyman hero like Sam Beckett. He stinks as a larger than life hero, like the Captain in Trek. Half the time, he was walking around the bridge scowling

I thought Voyager was a bad show. This show made watching Voyager a treat. I never seen so many stupid things happening in one show. It was like they were trying to ruin star trek. Practically did.
orkark 01/26/2006
Ok, so the entire season in the "void" was a waste. The rest was very nice TV.

Even bad Trek is still Trek!

this is essentially a star trek spin-off.......of which anal rapist mikael is a massive fan. he's such a big fan that he has a whole costume at home complete with vulcan ears - or are those his real ones? anyway, mikael loves nothing better than being in his costume and having the neighbours rabbit come round and lick his balls - the wierd thing is he invites hulk round to watch - hulk wears his noddy costume round - mike loves making the bell ring... anyway, everyone hates small co.ck mikael apart from hulk who loves his tiny prick up his ar.se.
maersk 06/14/2005
the most horrid star trek series in franchise history.

This is a good show and thanks to the mindless wonders at UPN it has been canceled. They have used the show to show the beginings of Star Fleet and the Federation; there is so much more material that they could cover. The writting has only gotten better as has the cast and they were just starting to get into some really good stories. Unless your the Sci/Fi channel you don't put a show like this on a Friday night. When the show first aired it was on Wednesdays at 9:00. It followed Smallville on the WB which was on at 8:00, this meant if you were sci/fi fan you could watch both show. Then UPN moved Enterprise to 8:00 where it was now going face to face with Smallville. After that was the great idea to move it to Fridays where it was up against the Sci/Fi channels strongest prime time schedule. What else does UPN have going for it, its about to loose the WWE after that I don't see where there ratings are going to come from. Maybe they will bring back the Mullets that was one of their many great shows that lasted less than a season.

The Series is finally doing so well, acheaving it's intended goal, backfilling the orginal series. Please keep the show on the air!!!
ClassicTVFan47 03/10/2005
The newest live-action Star Trek series had some great early episodes, but truly took of in its third and fourth season. The third season was a thrilling tale of a quest to save Earth and the fourth season had some of Trek's all-time best episodes written by the wunderkind three : Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens and Manny Coto. Scott Bakula makes a great captain and John Billingsley is tremendous as Phlox. Also notable for astonding special effects and a stirring theme song. In the words of Star Trek executive producer Rick Berman, God knows, they haven't seen the last of Star Trek. This is more true than you think because of the great people of TrekUnited and SaveEnterprise! They've raised over 3 million dollars to fund a season 5, are currently in talks with Paramount, have confirmed that the sets are not going to be destroyed (in storage instead!) and that the cast and crew are still under contract! I'm very optimistic for a fifth season!!!
madoka 03/04/2005
To current fans, please go to SaveEnterprise.com and TrekUnited.com to find out about ongoing efforts to bring Enterprise back for a 5th season. The campaign recently received a tremendous boost and is definitely gaining momentum and gathering worldwide publicity. And to the naysayers: While the show had a slow start(and which modern Trek series didn't?), the current 4th season has been fantastic. Now under new executive producer Manny Coto's leadership with new great writers on staff, I encourage those who had been disappointed by past seasons to reaquaint themselves with the revamped Enterprise. Recent episodes have dealt with remnants of the Eugenics War, a visit to Andoria, a looming Romulan threat that could be heard but not seen, and a credible explanation of the differences in Klingon appearance between the Original Series and modern Trek. Enterprise and its crew deserve another chance. Plans to cancel Enterprise spell disaster for the entire Star Trek franchise, NOT just for this particular show. Please help us save it.

Wish it was going to be around for a new season.
greentheatre 03/04/2005
The finest hour of television currently.
BettyAS 03/03/2005
With Solid Plots and great character interaction, Enterprise is true Trek. Enterprise has also been answering questions caused by inconsistancies between TOS and the newer treks, such as why the Klingons didn't have forehead ridges in TOS.
Maomania 02/27/2005
Not a very good show. Why would you go back in time? The fans love the future, they are not interessted in what happened before I am aware that sometimes you need to take risks to be sucessful. But that was not a smart move. I am a Star Trek fan but I barely watched that show. And why Scott Bakula as Captain? You don't want to see a familiar face on that show as a Captain. Poor choices.
dmsdbo 02/20/2005
From a big Star Trek fan...I'm sorry to say that this looks like something DS9 threw up ata times...
macg2005 02/01/2005
It is sad to see a drama television show get push to Friday nights the lowest TV viewing accross the country. I guess that mean all shows on Friday Night will end up cancelled for next season.
Estoy 01/18/2005
Gonna have to wait for the summer reruns, cause I can't find the damn show, and I only found it a couple of times, and because the series these days have to have an arc, I don't know what the hell is going on. I might change my rating when I find out.
yossielena 12/27/2004
Season 4 of Enterprise is simply the best ever. The Vulcan story arc is wonderfully written. I am looking forward to the formation of the Federation of Planets. Bringing Manny on board Enterprise is a splendid idea and should have been done long time ago. I am enjoying Enterprise much more this season and I'm sure it will get better from here. My recommendation is to continue making the link between Enterprise and Kirk's Star Trek - and, not making the Vulcans the bad guys. Absolutely loving the chemistry between Trip and Tpol and in my opinion, the most interesting characters in Star Trek history.
Wavebacker 12/11/2004
I'm a Trek fan and I was skeptical that they could make a prequel for Trek. I wanted to like Enterprise, but it is simply unwatchable. A horrible show that I cannot even find on the TV menu anymore. What a blown opportunity to make a dynamic, creative, edgy show. This should have been about how humanity painfully became the idealized, goody-goody prime directive leaders of the Alpha Quadrant, yet it's gotten hokey and jumped to past go-to episode types to get by. The whole Temporal Cold War was a horrible idea as well. What they should have done is look at our own past and say, Wow, this is what life was like 150 years ago, this is how people felt, how things were done, the devices they had, they way the looked. etc.... and then encorporated that into Enterprise. It's clear the creators of the show chose to gloss over the original series as well. The new show has screwed up the built-in story lines and established Trek staples. Klingons look like TNG Klingons, they even brought in the Borg. Bad! The NX-01 Enterprise should be a quirky ship with alot of kinks in it. The crew should be huge and made up of older and younger crewmen, kinda like a group from the TV show Survivor. There should be several Vulcan advisors on board. There should be crewman who are adventurous, arrogant and racist to other aliens. The captain should have a yeoman and all the technology should be in it's infant stages, big, clunky and slow to activate and use. I could go on and on, but you get the point.

Been a long time Star Trek fan, from the original series to the present. Didn't care at all for Voyager [Janeway was so annoying to us]. But the cast and premise of this show has great potential, but does fall short at times. Brings new and different take on the ST series. And the Vulcan T'Pau!!! ;) Shame that the show's time, dates, and channels are screwed up soooo many times. That makes it VERY hard to build a consistent fan base. For those w/o cable/dish, its almost impossible to catch it either. The original opening song was MUCH better, IMHO; it set the stage for discover, in an upbeat, positive, yet low-key manner. The current version of the theme song is much too hyped-up, at least for me. Hope the show gets its wings, and continues!
maple_leaf_gir l 05/01/2004
Best cast and story. I didn't think it could get much better after Voyager, but it did.
bor003 04/27/2004
What a breach of good story telling. Archer looks like he is constantly in PMS and the vulcan science office looks and acts like the galactic slut!
Lialala 04/01/2004
I like the environment and the actors, but it's so damn boring!
Dawnsdinos 03/12/2004
Just not into the Sci-fi space thing. I think its time to call it quits on Star Trek and it's copy cats.
Spirit of great bird 02/23/2004
Enterprise fails to live up to Roddenberry's original vision. It has lacked a sense of wonder and human achievement from the very beginning, it is all about Mission Impossible in space, a result of the post 9/11 world we live in. this show should be about the founding of the Federation, with the Romulans as the main villians! Where are Diane Duane or David Gerrold these days? How about a story from Harlan Ellison or William Gibson? Take this series out of the hands of Berman and Braga, who have become complacent in their middle age. Enterprise needs fresh blood and new story ideas for the next century or Paramount will continue to lose viewership and interest in the series and the franchise will quickly fade away.
jdog 02/15/2004
Good new feel to the seris.
silvia_soko 01/25/2004
Another Star treck star.
Moonstone 01/17/2004
It could use some changes and spice up the story lines. Have a few mysteries to explore instead of fighting with other species all the time.
CherrySoda99 01/06/2004
Not the best of the Startrek series, but certainly good.
infinitelvs 12/12/2003
Very good for what is being offered. Hint: get rid of current writers and add new life to show. Bakula is extremely talented - ket him do his thing!
Slapfish 11/19/2003
It's getting better. The last episode when the clone was created to save Trip was very good. I still don't think the captain is quite right for the show. I'm not sure if it's him or the dialogue he's given to work with.
paranoir 11/13/2003
innovative
duffer43 10/16/2003
It's improved. Can't wait for them to develop the relationship between Trip and T'Pol. They are great together. Let's hope they keep up the good work.
-jc- 10/04/2003
This season is much better.
toprolxl 10/01/2003
Scott Bakula and the rest of the actors make this Star Trex the best one. May it continue for many more seasons.
Alrisha 10/01/2003
While this show was a little slow getting started, Season 3 started out running and hasn't slowed down yet. The new direction with a continuing story is a great new idea for Star Trek and is making for very interesting shows this season. I think the writing so far has been the best we've seen yet!
Klingonmike 09/29/2003
I find Enterprise to be a great show! To me its just as good as any other Star Trek show.I don't understand some of the ranting and ravings about it being so bad,I personally have not seen anything bad about it at all.Every episode is well done and well written and very entertaining. I hope Enterprise goes to 7 seasons! Gene Roddenberry would be proud of this show!
Riaan 09/29/2003
I have seen every episode from day one and in my opinion it is a good show that keeps getting better. The character development is taking off and the story arcs are interesting. I like the "darker" direction the series is taking in season 3.
ddillard 09/29/2003
I definitely enjoy the show. It ranks among my favorites.
Lady C 09/25/2003
A Great Trek Series and a great TV show in general. Captures the spirit of the Original series.
myst123 09/24/2003
I love this show and definitely plan my time to watch it. I loved season 1 and 2 and this season has started off with a bang. Connor Trinneer is excellent and makes Trip one of the most watchable, engaging Trek characters ever. T'Pol, Malcolm and Phlox are all wonderful characters played beautifully by Jolene Blalock, Dominic Keating, and John Billingsley. This a show worth watching - keep your Wednesdays free!
Buckybbs 09/24/2003
The third season of "Enterprise" has begun with a bang. I hope this continues throughout the year.
plumtuckered 09/24/2003
This is the only show around which I arrange my time! I have never liked or enjoyed a character as much as I do Trip Tucker but the entire cast/characters are absolutely delightful! I would highly recommend this show to everyone!
robyriker 09/24/2003
This is my favorite show on TV today! I tape every episode and try to not plan anything fo when it's on. I like the fact that it is pre-TOS and we get to see how alot of the Starfleet technology and customs came about. It also allows the crew to truely "boldy go where no man has gone before." I like the sense of wonder that the crew has when they see new things for the first time. While I was at first leery of this new Xindi plot, I now think that being in the Expanse will give the crew of the Enterprise a whole new chance to explore a new region of space and see new and different things. And, of course, I watch Enterprise because of the excellent acting (especially by Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating). Let's hope B&B keep up the good work!
albundy 09/24/2003
If this show didn't shoulder the burden of the "Star Trek" franchise, people would be raving about it. It's held up against an unfair standard. Honestly, Deep Space Nine was the best-written, most character-oriented show in the series. I think that the producers are trying to recapture that during season three, and I hope that the viewing public will cut them some slack and give it a chance. For all of the hype surrounding it, TNG was much more boring. If Enterprise were syndicated, rather than on the obscure UPN net, it would reach a larger audience, and would be a hit (look at Andromeda, for gosh sake!).
