Dear "winconath", In comparison of IDS with Normal P-IV Machine, I think you are missing one thing. IDS are New and P-IV sold are old Machines. Indian Govt. has banned importing used and garbage machines and I think normal P-IV machine sold at chiper rates are all Used (Not at all New). Moreover IDS can be bought with One Year Warranty also. I bought from Namrata Solutions, Ahmedabad with P-III, 256MB, 250GB, Internal TV-Tuner @ Rs. 8000/-. Nothing Bad (In fact, Non-Comparable). I'm sure this Product is worth buying.

I heard a lot about this Intel dot station till I finally purchased one myself. Firstly no doubt its a brand new machine. Secondly the Configuration was Cel 300 with 4.3GB HDD & 64 MB RAM. for Rs. 3495/- without Bill & without warranty. Thirdly I bought P-III 800 for another Rs.200/-, 40GB HDD for Rs. 1000/- and 256 MB SD RAM for Rs.500/-, External casing for CD drive for Rs. 550/- and CD drive for Rs. 250/- So I got a branded P-III machine for Rs. 6000/- Thats because I got the CPU+HDD+RAM+ CD drive & Casing from Nehru Place(New Delhi) all by myself. But then the catch is that you got to add a 102K resistance on the motherboard so that it accepts P-III 800. The said machine is so compact that normally an engineer by profession would not dare to open the machine all by himself. And if you ask the vendor from whom you bought the machine for a upgrade you'll be asked to pay Rs. 1600/- for 256 MB SD RAM, Rs. 1100/- for P-III 800 CPU and RS.1700/- for 40GB HDD.And still no OS or any sofw... I purchased a DOT Station. First of all it contained 'canned' Internet Access Software - all in Spanish. Anyways, I connected an external CD drive and intalled Win-XP Pro. Now it works with Win-XP Pro, however, each time it boots up, something happens to the Keyboard and/or mouse. I used a Separate standard USB keyboard and USB mouse. Sometimes it will not recognize the external CD drive and its drive letter will be missing from the 'My computer"s list. I am still working on it to find out what the problem is. Don't know yet. Internet Access through the broadband modem (on Rj-45 LAN port) and IE 7.0 work quite well. I have 64MB RAM in the DOT and a 4.9GB Harddrive. Maybe I ought to upgrade the RAM to 128 or 256kB to eliminate this inconsistancy. All in all, for the price, it is great. I paid Rs.4000/- incl taxes. Best Wishes Suresh Doraiswamy

I would recommend such machine in every office. Its extremely cheap and is the best solution ever possible in offices where only working on MS Word / MS Excel or such low resource hungry applications are required to be run. Also, the dot stations are the MOST PERFECT choice to be used as thin clients (i.e. computers without hard drives). I myself purchased a dot station for Rs. 6800/- with 64MB RAM, 10GB HDD (not a good deal as then i got another offer for the same config at Rs. 6000/-). I have installed WinXP on this configuration and it is working quite well. The Dot Station is really a beautiful machine, no wires hanging around as both CPU and monitor are in one piece, Mac-like looks, very cute laptop-style keyboard, decent quality speakers, creative sound card on-board, LAN card on-board, etc... My advice, grab as many pieces as required in your office until they are available cos i dont think the stock will last long looking at the increasing popularity of the computers. -Vineet... Quite amazing performance given the price, loaded XP Pro along with MS Office 2003, working fast enough for my satisfaction.

Great at such a lower price. Great for internet, accounts, MS office, games, music, videos and many more but not too good to work on high technologies
