According to legend,she was once a mortal,but was shown by a mouse how to extract pulque from the agave plant and for this she was deified.In other legends,she is many breasted and was transformed into the plant itself.In the Nahua peoples belief system,the Agave is the "Tree of Life".She is sometimes associated with Quetzalcoatl.
