*Mr. Neeraj Kanwar* is a gradate of Lehigh University. H is also the Vice Chairperson of Apollo Tyres and has a good reputation. Sure, he belongs to a very wealthy family and so did not have to
work too hard to achieve a high level position. The Indian public and media
does not know about Mr. Neeraj Kanwar's reality. Neeraj Kanwar is a spoiled
Delhi elite who has been involved in criminal activities. Mr. Kanwar
attended Lehigh University (1989-1993). He was engaged in criminal
activities and was reported to the police and to the Deans office.

*Here is an overview of what happened between Neeraj Kanwar and another
Indian student at Lehigh University in 1991.*

Neeraj Kanwar was in 2nd year in 1991. He was harrassing another Indian
student along with his colleagues at Lehigh University. This started as a
joke on Feb 1st,1991 when a student named Ram was given an idea to get
involved in prostitution by Neeraj Kanwars' friends. Neeraj friends called a
pimp named "JJ" who supplied hookers and asked them to arrange a girl for
Ram. Ram initially took this as a joke but later realized that they were
serious about it. Ram stepped out of this scandal and stayed away from
Neeraj and his friends thereafter.

On Feb 8th, April 11th, April 16th, and April 24th, 1991 Neeraj Kanwar
harrassed Ram on the campus whenever he encountered Ram. He was harassing
Ram by telling him that JJ was after him and will call him at his house.
Neeraj Kanwar was abusive even in public places and threatened to strike Ram
physically. Neeraj was upset since Ram was not getting involved in his bad
company. Ram always insisted that he should be left alone. Neeraj was
forcing Ram into prostitution.

On April 16th, 1991 night, Neeraj Kanwar made someone act like JJ and harass
Ram during a phone conversation. Neeraj and JJ used bad language and
tortured Ram who got very scared.

Ram filed a police report against Neeraj Kanwar and colleages at Lehigh
University on April 17th, 1991. Lehigh University Sergeant Robert S Bruneio
took the complaint but send it to the Dean's office since Ram was not sure
if he wanted to press charges. The report was sent to the Associate Dean
(Dean Curran).

The Associate Dean (Dean Curran) did not take the complaint seriously and
passed this as a "practical joke." He supported Neeraj Kanwar and
colleagues. The Dean did not even tell Neeraj that Ram had gone to the
police.

Ram was badly hurt and reported the matter the President of Lehigh
University (Dr. Peter Likins) in Aug 1991. Mr. Peter Likins was very
sympathetic to Ram and expressed his grief through a letter. Ram mailed this
letter to Neeraj and Neeraj was humiliated.

Ram also send threatening letters to Neeraj Kanwar at his residence in
Delhi, India and at his Lehigh address. Neeraj could also have pressed
charges against Ram but chose not to do so. He was scared that this matter
could go public.

Ram finally approached the Head of the Dean (John W Smeaton) who took his
concerns seriously. Dean Smeaton took an action against the Associate Dean
(Dean Curran) and also met with Neeraj Kanwar. Dean Smeaton met with Neeraj
Kanwar on Dec 2nd, 1991 and explained to Neeraj that Ram could have filed a
formal complaint against him in April 1991 and could have initiated an
investigation but made the choice to not to pursue the matter. Dean Smeaton
did the job that Dean Curran failed to do so back in April 1991.

Associate Dean Curran was threatened by Ram on Feb 2nd, 1994 since he did
not take Ram's concerns seriously. Dean Curran was finally forced to leave
Lehigh University in 1996. Neeraj graduated from Lehigh in Oct 93 and so was
not there when Dean Curran was threatened. Ram also threatened Dean Smeaton since Dean Smeaton never apologized him for Dean Curran's ineffectiveness. Dean Smeaton was threatened on Aug 14th, 1995.

Ram resides in the US and is a professional. He is spiritual and volunteers
for the Sai Baba's group. But Ram was victimized and had to seek
psychological counselling and took psychiatric medications to relieve the
anguish, stress given by Mr. Neeraj Kanwar in 1991. Ram's family was hurt
since they saw Ram crying and yelling. for many years.

Mr. Neeraj Kanwar of Apollo Tyres has performed bad karma. He did not leave
any evidence behind at Lehigh University but he cannot escape God's eye. His
karmas are bound to come back to him. He hurt an innocent person and so
cannot escape his karma.

I do agree with some of the comments about Lehigh. As an international student I had a very low opinion about American people after graduating from Lehigh.

I heard that the Deans office was threatened twice by a student in mid 90s. This sincere student was harassed at Lehigh University but his concerns were taken a joke.

But I liked the Material Science Department. Lehigh ranked high (Top 9 school) in my days. Good professors.

Lehigh Unversity police is terrible. They are lousy people. I went to seek their help since I was being harrassed.Lieutenant Robert S Bruneio was a sargeant then. He did not help me and simply send my report to the Dean's office. This is because he did not want to do the work himself.

Lieutenant Bruneio did not explain me the correct law and simply told me, "I have got too much work. We will let the university handle this matter."

No wonder why so much crime takes place on the campus.

Lehigh Deans were terrible. Dean Curran (long time) was a very rude and an inefficient person. Dean John W Smeaton (now the provost) speaks politely but is very selfish person. He will never apologize to protect Lehigh's reputation.

I remember when I was a sophomore a terrible incident happen at Lehigh University. Four Lehigh freshmen grabbed a female student and shaved a portion of her pubic area. That is so gross. That is a shame.

The only reason I am giving TWO stars to Lehigh is because it is a good academic schools. Thanks to the students and professors who are involved in doing research.

I graduated from Lehigh in 1993 with a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering. I am now a Vice Chairperson of a $1.2 corporation in India called Apollo Tyres. I found Lehigh to be a very good academic school. But it is a party school where a lot of spoiled kids from wealthy families come to study. And I happen to be one of them.

I was a spoiled child and did a lot of bad things at Lehigh. I was reported to the Dean of Office in 1991 on a few occassions. Luckily the Associate Dean was always in my favor. But later I realized how bad and lousy Lehigh Administration was. This is because I was involved in harrassing a student but still nothing happened to me. Initially, I thought I could be in trouble. I graduated and I own a big business. The Lehigh Administration was very poor. They don't take things seriously atall.

Students were so cruel at Lehigh. This includes international students who were spoiled undergrads of wealthy families. So many bad things happened on the hill. Greek week was sick.

Lehigh, another sad story. That school is just party and sex. Dont understand how this school has a high reputation. Too much crime on campus and a lot of it does not get to media.
Too many bad things to share about Lehigh.

I spent nearly 6 years at Lehigh. It is a good academic school because of good graduate students. Otherwise, it is a party school and a lot of spoiled kids attend this school.

I had a terrible experience at Lehigh in 91. I was harrassed by a few international students (from India) and the Associate Dean passed that incident as a practical joke. My concerns were not taken seriously despite the fact I was badly emotionally hurt. I found the Lehigh Deans and Lehigh police to be very inefficient. The head of the Dean did not even apologize to me even though he admitted that Lehigh was at fault.

I was fortunate that this incident occured a few months before I graduated. Otherwise, it would have been impossible for me to concentrate on my studies for a few more semesters.

Sorry, Lehigh. I will never send my children to your unethical school.

Oh Lehigh, my alma mater. Unforunately, I can't give it more than 3 stars, although it seems on here, all schools are falling below the 3 rating, which sort of confuses me. Anyway, Lehigh is overall a solid school, and the campus is really, really beautiful (it's the reason I applied there in the first place). Academically speaking, Lehigh's engineering program is its highest accomplishment, but they are trying to become a more well-rounded school in recent years. I was in the college of arts and sciences, and while I do feel I got a great education and learned a lot, we were not given the same opportunities as those in the engineering school (or even as those in the business school). We had huge job fairs, but there were so few employers looking for someone in an arts & sciences major, that there was little reason for any of us to attend (other than to feel defeated). I do feel that I got a well-rounded education, being that as a journalism major, I had to complete courses in sciences and math. As in any school, I think it is what you make it - you can take challenging courses outside your major, or you can breeze through taking just what you need.

On the social side, Greek life reigns supreme. Being in a sorority never appealed to me, so at times I have to say I felt left out of the social scene. Sure, I did my fair share of partying - I went up to frats on "The Hill," went to house parties off campus, and went to the bars when I turned 21 - but there were so many activities centered around frats and sororitites, that I did feel like I was missing out just because it wasn't my thing. Alcohol is huge there, although after our #3 party rating, the school and police have been cracking down in the last 3 years or so.

Football was also a big thing at Lehigh, especially our rivalry with Lafayette College. As Magellan said, that football game is huge every year and always a ton of fun. Of course, most of that fun involves waking up at 6 a.m. to start drinking, then drinking some more at tailgates (which are really some of the most crazy times I've ever had), and then sort of glazing over the game, taking a nap, then going out to party hard.

There are a lot of very intelligent people at Lehigh, and also a lot of really rich, snobby kids who just want to party hard and sleep through class. Like I said, the experience is what you make of it, who you meet, and the memories you make. Did I love Lehigh? No. Did I get a good education and enjoy my time there? Definitely.

Lehigh is not only a place to have fun while pursuing a degree, it is fun on the weekends for all. Despite what everyone things, there are still plenty of people on campus who don't party on the hill (or more recently off campus due to the cops) every weekend, and instead have fun sitting around in the dorm just talking, taking trips, or going to events in the arts center. The engineering curriculum is rigorous and the structure is given so that most students can succeed, and the business school is ranked highly and there are oppurtunities for students across all disciplines to study different fields or combine them.

Loved every minute of it. Would do it again in a hearbeat. A school with excellent Engineering, Arts, Sciences, and Business programs (tough to find a school with that much academic diversity).

Great School. Good academics. Good party environment. Work hard/party hard.

Once you climb the hill, the old buildings do make for a nice campus. Solid Engineering program. . .it is a drinker's paradise. . .the "Talley HO" tavern is one of my all-time favorite college-area bars with above-average food. (If you don't have breasts, don't bother asking a male bartender for anything.) Academics are above-average. . .but I always left feeling like there was a sense of snobbery to the place that wasn't deserved. All in all, a decent school.

Overrated... school is full of drinkers and mediocre students.

Lehigh's great. Free Sex and Beer!!!!! Enough said

Although they have cracked down in recent years, this school is a drinkers' paradase. On week-end nights you will see tens of students either passed out, or in the process of passing out, sprawled out or rolling down the steep hill on which the campus sits. In terms of academics, the engineering program is very strong here, and as such, you will find a lot of somewhat nerdy types. The fraternity scene is huge - in part because the metropolis of Lehigh, PA does not offer a lot of social alternatives. If you are thinking of visiting this school, try and go during Lehigh / Lafayette weekend - it is madness - and will give you a good taste of both the fun, and dark, side of going to Lehigh.
