Mrs. Twan has been rather addicted to "Chopped" lately. It's probably their best show. It's usually entertaining enough, but I'm not a huge fan. Since the rating scale is not a measure of quality but a frequency of being watched, FoodNetwork is in the 3-4 star range. If it was a merit based scale, I'd give it two stars.FoodNetwork also has too many shows where Guy Fieri shows up. He's annoying as hell. (For those that don't recognize the name, he's that annoying guy with the spiky bleach blond hair from the Applebee's commercials.)

Truth be told, the better "food" shows are on the Travel Channel (Bourdain, Zimmern, Richman, etc.), or even BBC-America, at least when they were showing "Kitchen Nightmares" (a show I'll confess I'm addicted to). Nobody is actively offensive on the FoodNetwork (unless Rachel Ray is still on), but nobody is particularly interesting or engaging either. I do come upon it when flipping channels, and will sometimes hang around if I come upon something relatively intriguing, but seldom for very long.

A good source when it comes to the world of food and cooking, and the colorful personalities who share this info with you, complete with recipes and various pointers on shortcuts and ways to perhaps make a good dish better (depending on one's personal perspective).

May possibly be one of the most practical networks running. I regularly watch Rachel Ray, Paula Deen and The Barefoot Contessa. You can find some really interesting recipes on this network and the beauty is being able to download them from their web site. I've learned a lot about gourmet cooking and cooking in general from the Food Network.

Rarely do I watch this one,but I do like Emeril.

the times that i've watched this channel i've actually enjoyed it. perhaps that's more commentary on the vast amount of drab programming circulating over cable wires, that watching people cook stands as fine entertainment. but the Food Network has some quality programming. I enjoy Unwrapped and typically anything w/Emeril. Rachel Ray leaves a lot to be desired. not b/c she's attractive(i enjoy that part.) i'm just not a fan of her programs, or at least the one i've seen 40 dollars a day? or something. tel me, i know lunch can cost $5, but it is really appropriate to only tip someone $1?
