Recently dined with a group of friends, it was partners bday so we decided to do something different. The Melting P*t staff did a great job of making us feel welcome and the food was amazing. It was a refreshing change of pace from your typical establsihment in our fine city.

I recently dined at the Melting P*t with my girlfriend, it was our anniversary and I wanted to make the night really special for her. They definately made that happen, I ordered flowers for the table and they were awesome, they even put a card out for us. Our server Carolyn was great she was friendly and knew a lot about the menu. Kudos to the managers and staff for making a special night even more special than we had anticipated.

It is better to go here when they aren't busy like early on a saturday on a sunday or during the week. You get a better experience! We love the food. it is a nice treat once in a while...it is a little pricy but it is a nice place to go once in a while!

We just recently dined at The Pittsburgh MeltingPot to celebrate our anniversary around the Valentine's Holiday. I must say that the staff did a great job and provided outstanding service. It was our first time as it had been somewhere my wife had been wanting to dine for a while. They had roses on the table and arranged for a relatively private table. It was truly a different dining experience that we enjoyed. This is definately an experience restaurant and they do a great job. Everything was delicious and we had an intimate and relaxed dinner. I highly recommend and will return. Keep in mind everything is done tableside and you actually cook your food at the table. Perhaps this is a suprise to some but I guess not much has changed since the 70's when we used to enjoy it. For a fun and intimate evening out we highly recommend. Make sure you bring your credit card because it is a bit expensive but worth it for a great evening to catch up.

Let me tell you that is was not a good dining experience. The service was not too bad but other than that pretty terrible. First off it was on V-day and unaware to me was the fact that you have vertually no choice in menu selection. It was $69.00 a person for an appetizer (scallops - boyfriend doesn't like seafood and they were terrible), a cheese fondue (out of all the awesome ones listed on their site only 3 were available), a salad (again 3 choices), an entree ( we had to share this platter of bite sized meats which came out raw and had to be cooked by US in boiling brothey water), and last was the choc. fondue which I swear tasted just like hersey's syrup. So I guess if you like to be told what to eat, enjoy boiled meats incl. broth flavored lobster, and wanna leave with a $200.00 dollar bill for two then this is your place. Otherwise I suggest not going at all, at least not on a holiday.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary and they treated us great. Very friendly waiter. Even though it was a Saturday night, we did not have to wait long for our table and it was packed! Highly recommend reservations. We enjoyed doing something 'different' by cooking tabletop. It was a little pricey but worth it.

Dined here several times and really enjoy the place for a special occasion. Came in with some friend from out of town and the staff went out of thier way to make it a great evening for us all. It's a unique place to dine and a terrific spot to catch up. Food is great and I always order the Big Night out with all four courses. Highly recommend the Spinach and Artichoke cheese fondue. If you are into trying something different definately recommend. It is pricey but the majority of menu options are designed for two and include three or four course. Chocolate fondue is amazing. Staff is always there when you need them and service is far above average. Great location since you can go out afterwords to any number of bars or clubs once you are done.

We went to The Melting Po* based on the reviews on this site. We had great expectations so we brought 7 people, 2 being kids. $275 later I am not impressed. The prices are outrageous. I'm not saying that the food is bad, or even just ok. It was decent. The fondue was fantastic. The salad was modern and different tasting. The entrees overall were great with the exception of the surf n turf (which was a tiny amount of food unlike the other entrees which were plentiful). I also need to point out that I never would have gone to this restaurant had I known that my $74 filet minon would be prepared by master chef me. They have you boil all of your food in a choice of broths (some of the spices cost an extra $5) right there at the table. They bring you raw food and give you some recommended cooking times. All of this was a very different experience and 1 that I hope saves some other folks some money and busted expectations. It simply was not worth the price. The staff was very co... Read more

I never will go back after my last experience, the owner was stocking wine in the main lobby in front of the host stand so when we walked in it seemed like we were there off hours, nobody said hi to us, and our server did not explain what we were doing and she gave us cook times for our food that were different from the 2 other servers at other tables. this is a classless experience, especially for the price. don't go.

In Short Booths equipped with tabletop fondue pots are clustered together inside the intimate dining room. Start with a cheese fondue, including an assortment of breads, veggies and fruits for dipping. Entrees include lobster, center-cut filet, fish, chicken and vegetarian selections served with a variety of dipping sauces. For dessert, try the flaming turtle, a mix of chocolate and caramel flambéed tableside, served with nut-covered marshmallows, fresh fruit, pound cake, brownies and cheesecake.

My boyfriend just took me here for our anniversary and it was absolutely wonderful. When he called in for the reservation they asked if it was a special occasion and he told them that it was. We were seated in a quiet back booth that was very private and hidden behind a wall and there was a beautiful white rose waiting on the table. Our waitress and the entire staff was very friendly and came back to check often. the bill did come to a little over $100 but for a four course meal for two including lobster and filet mignon we didn't think it was too bad. You get to cook the food yourself so it's fun, and you get a large variety. Perfect place for special occasions.

This is a great place to take a date or spouse. The atmosphere is casual and "playing with your food" makes conversations more fun and relaxed. We got the four-course meal, which is a little pricey (the bill came to over $100 for 2 people), but we will still go back again. If you plan to go in the summer, bring a sweater because they have the air conditioner on high and I was freezing the whole time I was there. Other than that, definitely a good choice for a restaurant.

I wasn't sure what to expect when my wife wanted me to take her out for fondue for her birthday. I was really suprised by the experience and amount of food we had with the Big Night Out dinner for two. Alot of fun, the presentation of the food was great, and they had a ton of wines to pick from. She loves the Conundrum which they serve for much less than any other place I've seen in town. Staff was very polite and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and the facilities well kept. I highly recommend based on the fact that it is so different. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere make for a great place. It takes a while to dine but I believe that's part of the allure. Make sure you save room for the chocolate because it is amazing. They even served us a champagne toast at the end of our meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. A really nice touch!

I understand that the concept of fondue is to dip your food in hot oil, so my comments are not necessarily about the restaurant itself. The wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was a great place to catch up with old friends we hadn't seen in awhile, however, none of us felt that good the next day. Perhaps it was from eating the oil-soaked food or perhaps it was the food itself - who knows. I just thought it was too pricey and the food was not delicious by any means. So there you have it, food not so good. Environment good.

What a wonderful restaurant. The food is top-notch and the fondue is very fitting especially on a cold Winter night. The ambience is great - romantic or fun with friends. The desserts are amazing. It is a restaurant where you should plan to spend several hours conversing and enjoying the food. I cannot say enough good about this restaurant.

I really enjoy this restaurant. I have been here three times so far and plan to go back. Every time I have gone I have gotten the big night out and it was well worth it. However, I do have to warn that not all of my friends feel the same way about this restaurant. I recently picked this as the place to go for my birthday and got mixed reviews. I think the cooking process was too long for them. They all agreed they were glad they went but may not be back. I on the other hand love that it takes a few hours to dine here and enjoy the whole experience.

The food here is excellent. You must get the big night out, this way you can try all of what the restaurant has to offer. Expect to cook your own food! Don't worry, it's fun!! Also expect to spend a few hours here!! Do not, I repeat DO NOT get the oil to cook your food in, if you want fried food go to KFC. I've tried all the cooking styles and the best is the one with the wine in it. Definitely save room for dessert. The chocolates are all amazing!! Definitely make reservations and if you're on a date try to request table 41, it's the most romantic table in the restaurant. I've been waited on by several different staff members and Joe is by far the best server there! This is definitely a place you'll want to come back to (that is as long as you don't get the oil cooking style!!!).

This is a great restaurants to go out with the girls, or on a date. Nick- the bartender- really knows his wine, so ask for his recomendation!! The food is unique, and I always leave stuffed. I reccomend the "Dinner for 2" for 3 people- they give you plenty! I also recomend getting the vegetable broth instead of oil for your fondue- it helps to flavor the food and its not as heavy. If you can, save room for dessert0 its fabulous!

I celebrated my birthday this past weekend dining here with my husband and another couple. We were seated promptly and when we got to the table there were balloons and a bar of chocolate waiting on the table!!! We all went for the "big night out" which is all four courses. Cheese was very flavorful and we never ran out of food to dip into it!! When it came for our entree course I was overwhelmed.... lobster, shrimp, chicken, beef, and even pork, which I normally do not care for, however the pork melted in my mouth and was full of flavor. When it came time for chocolate we picked my favorite, dark chocolate.... and there are no words to describe how good the chocolate was. BETTER THAN BIRTHDAY CAKE! All four of us work in the restaurant industry and it felt so great to be waited on. The service was phenomenal, we never had to ask for a thing and were made to feel like we were VIP's. Overall, a great place for above average service, to sit back, relax, and eat things you wouldnt at ho... Read more

Tonight my husband and I FINALLY got to experience this AMAZING restaurant in Station Square. It's not often that we get to share a "night out" away from the kids!! We recommend making reservations in advance because the restaurant is very busy!! It took us a week to get reservations!! We were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation, but we didn't mind because it gave us a chance to sit at the bar and look over the extensive wine list! If you love wine, like we do, this is definately the place to go! Our server was very personable and quite knowageable!! He made the night more enjoyable!! The food was absolutely amazing!! The cheese course was made right at the table. The entree course was brought to us and we were taught how to cook our dinners, with our fondue forks, in one of the cooking styles that we choose! The best was saved for last. The chocolate course was sinful! It came with a variety of breads, cakes and fruits for dipping! Definately come hungry when comi... Read more

I am truly impressed with this restaurant. I've been there several times, its always busy and the wine pricing and selection are great. On my last visit Colin, my server, recognized me as a former patron. I always enjoy my experience at the restaurant but this time they truly went above and beyond. The owner stopped by and talked to us about wine and recommended a great bottle from thier list that has at least 400 wines. Service was on, prompt but not intrusive and our private table made our anniversary dinner perfect. To my surprise the owner actually sent us out a 20 yr port wine with dessert to thank us for celebrating our anniversary at this restaurant. It's a unique place that enables you to sit back, relax, and enjoy your food and company. Make sure you go hungry if ordering the Big Night Out because all four courses will fill you up. It's a bit pricey but well worth the experience and time you get to spend dining on a special evening out. (Save room the chocolate is the best pa... Read more

I dine out frequently and for my birthday my boyfriend made reservations here. It was a truly memorable experience. He arranged to have a private table that was so romantic I was startled to see a flower arrangement and wine waiting for me when we were taken back. We had all four courses with the Big Nite Out. The meal was delicious and niether of us could believe how full we were. As a wine drinker I couldn't believe how much they had! If you like wine you have to try this place. If you are tired of the same old thing go to the Melting Pot.

We loved the Melting Pot the first time we went there and have been going back ever since. The one thing you need to remember is you are going to make a night out of it. We loved the fact that you get to enjoy a drink at the bar while waiting for your table and dinner takes a while. It gives you the chance to really spend time with your significant other or your guests. We always get the "Big Night Out" there are some many choices, you get to try a little of everything and can keep changing your menu every time you go there! The wait staff was great and the owner always comes to check and see how your night is going. If you want a romantic night out or haven't seen close friends in a while and want to catch up this is the place.

The "Big Night Out" describes more of the price than the amount food you receive. The 'cheese' course started with bread cubes, apples and very small amount of vegs. which were refillable if the waiter was around to refill it. He was back in time to bring the salads. House dressing was good. The entree was definately not comparable to the price. Entree consisted of a few beef cubes, chicken cubes, 6-8 shrimp, 3 ravioli, and 2 pot lickers. Not much to share between 2 people. Dessert is a chocolate lovers dream. Several choices of different chocolates served with fruit, marshmallow, very small brownie and pound cake cubes. The 1 small slice of cheesecake... tasted sour. Salad and entrees good but not worth $82. Many other restaurants in the area with a much better menu and value.

We really enjoyed this place. The food is amazing, especially the desert. We had the "big night out" which includes a cheese fondue course, salad, your main course and desert. For desert we had the S'mores melted chocolate. Absolutely divine. Our only gripes were that we had a 10:00pm reservation and were not seated until 10:25. When we were seated we lucked out with the table in the broom closet, honestly the smallest table there which included walls on three sides and was about 1/3 of the size of the other tables. The Hostess was also very unpleasant. Overall, the food won us over and we had a really great time.. it would have been BETTER if our table hadnt been so crappy but I guess thats what you get when you're a teenager.
