I have visited this hot spot in the west village numerous times and always had exceptional service and a great time. The Bar staff and bus boys were extremely attentive to our group as we both mingled at the bar and then used a bottle voucher I purchased from gilt.com. The room has such a nice ambiance with the low ceilings and dim lighting. by about 1:30am the club was really going with great music, the DJ really knows how to feel the crowd! All around, great time, will be returning very soon!

These four star reviews must have been posted by friends because I really don't know how anyone can enjoy this place! The musty, dank smell was just the beginning of the miserable evening. The place looks and feels like my grandmothers basement. The bartenders are inept and rude, and the owner, Aram is such a douche. Stay clear of this dank night spot it is simple miserable.

I recently had my birthday party at 49 Grove. It was the least stressful party i've ever planned. I set up the reservation directly with the owner, who was such a pleasure to deal with and was so accommodating! The night of the party I started to get a little nervous. I had never been there before and was worried that it wouldn't be fun and that my friends would have a hard time getting in. To my surprise when we got there the bouncer was so friendly we basically walked right in and were immediately escorted to our table. What i loved most about the space were all the private sections for parties, but yet you could still mix and mingle with the other parties. It was such a fun night! the music was great and me and my friends danced our butts off! I would highly recommend 49 Grove a the ideal spot for a birthday party!!!

Last night I went to a great fundraiser at 49 Grove for the Susan G. Komen’s Race For The Cure Breast Cancer Charity. The weather sucked and only 100 or so people showed but the place was really high end and nice. Much nicer then I expected a fundraiser to be. Little touches like pink roses all over the place, scented candles, mints with the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon on them, even the staff had pink ribbons on. The only thing that I didn’t like about the place was the location, West Village and we live uptown and that there was no food at the event.

I had my birthday there last Saturday night. The place was a bit to packed and but a lot of fun. Good looking crowd, great DJ and very strong drinks. A bit too strong for some of my friends, but their light weights. All the staff were really attentive and made a point of taking care of us. When we left the club we even got a thank you from what turned out to be the owner. It wasn’t your usual B.S. “Thank you come again,” either and for that I want to plug this place as a great place for a birthday.

Happy hour is supposed to be just that – a joyous, relaxing occasion of letting loose after the corporate world ceases its nibbling away at your soul, at least for the day. This day, it was less so. I must note that this was not a normal happy hour; it was a promoted happy hour event. Still, the bar was woefully understaffed and said staff was understandably short-tempered. Most of the tables in the second, curtained-off room were tastefully “Reserved,” so that everyone was shunted into the first room, made tight by the lengthy line (twelve minutes – I timed it) for the bar. Though the sleek design, a cool blue echoed with mirror-laden walls, made up for most of the organizational mess, I was thoroughly disturbed by the sodden carpet underfoot. Happy hour is not the time for tenderly treading through a peat bog.

Went for my birthday last weekend and had a great time. Everyone was very on the ball. The doorman and manager took great care of us even though they were being harassed by some butt heads at the door complaining that they can't get in. Frankly guys that I don't think any club would want the way they were dressed and the way the acted. The DJ was great, even played Happy Birthday for me and played a mix of everything, even stuff I haven't heard in years. Thanks guys I'll be ack soon.

In this day of age you would expect that racism would be over, and that we moved on to something better since we have a black president, but unfortunately we did not. ------Standing online waiting to get in was just a nightmare for me because the door man felt that I was the wrong race for that particular night (crazy right). When I finally got in front of the line I tried to speak to the door man about us being on the guest list, since my friend is having her b-day party, he just ignored me and allowed people behind me to get in. Which I felt was unfair since I waited for my turn to get in this place. This went on for about 20 min. Until I realized this was a race issue since he was allowing all the white woman and men to get in front of me which made me feel insulted and embarrassed because we were dressed for the occasion and I was speaking to him with the respect that any human being should receive. I then finally got of the line with my boyfriend and decided to walk away and go to... Read more

I received a Birthday letter in the mail from 49 Grove offering me a Birthday Special (why don't all places send these out?), so this past weekend in celebration of my 24th Birthday my friends and I decided to stop in. We had soooooo much fun. The music was amazing, and the crowd was HOT!!! We got one complimentary bottle since it was my birthday, but we decided to buy more once we were there! The prices we very reasonable and the services was great! I felt like we had VIP service with waitresses, bus boys, and managers checking in with us constantly! My girls and I all agree when I say that this is a really great Birthday Party Spot, plus the Bartenders were really handsome! ;) We will be there again tonight for sure!

Stopped by 49 Grove for Justin Ross Lee's Birthday after party last weekend! Really enjoyed myself, tried their watermelon martini, DELICIOUS! There was a red carpet and camera's flashing everywhere! Danced the night away and enjoyed a few yummy cupcakes as well! I definitely suggest 49 Grove as a venue for Birthday Parties! The staff was great at accommodating everyone who attended, I even danced a little bit with one of the cute waitresses :) Two thumbs up!

I came to 49 Grove a few weeks ago just to check it out and maybe have some drinks, but as the night passed along a few of my friends and I decided to buy a bottle. From the moment we got seated until the moment we paid the bill we has a really fun time. The waitress was tall and blonde and she was constantly checking in with us, making sure we had everything that we needed. The bottle prices we very reasonable. Later on in the evening we had some more of out friends arrive, the doorman let them in with no cover and no problems. We have gotten bottle service at a few venues now and I must say that 49 Grove will be a venue that we visit again. The DJ was amazing and eventhough we got a few drinks spilled on us by the bachelorette party seated beside us, we had a great time watching them dance. 49 Grove is a great venue to come and have drinks with a few friends, but seems like you could have a really good time if you had a birthday party here. There is a great VIP area secluded from the... Read more

So I went a few years ago & it was good and went back because I had such a great time. And It stood up after 2 years. The door guy was not a j*rk the bottle staff was cute but not too pushy & the DJ was great. I had 2 of my friends book their birthday parties there & they loved it had a blast. oh yea they don't push you into 1500 @ the door like the "other " clubs. Use discretion, it is a hott spot. If you go try a little earlier so you get a great table because it gets packed

I recently went to 49 Grove for my birthday, had a great time. There was no trouble at the door even for my friends who came in late, we were given a great table that was the right size for my party and the people who showed up later. The next day I had a question about the bill and called Grove expecting to get the voice mail. Instead I was immediately put in contact with the owner, Aram, who answered all my questions and also emailed me copies of my receipt. I've never had such helpful and efficient customer service from a nightclub before, and would highly recommend them.

I went to 49 Grove last weekend with a bunch of friends. Picture it: 5 hot girls, bottle service, tables, looking for a slamming night out. Got right in and skipped the line, seated at a pimp table right near the DJ booth. They were spinning some really hot hip hop, we were totally taken care of all night long...and most importantly it was a good looking crowd!! I have already booked my best friends birthday party there in two weeks bc we had so much fun. Cant wait to go back!

After weeks ( yes weeks) of planning a bday party with 49 grove, and talking to the owner Aram (or however you spell it) MULTILPE times We get to the door and the door person says they have no such reservation. The best part is when we asked for Aram the owner whom we had set up the party with he doesnt pick up his phone. He does however respond via text message, ha! Then he goes on to say how there has been a huge mistake and will give us a complimentary bottle. ( all via text) Funny part is he apparently has no communication with his GOONS at the door. So the door GOONS look at us as if we are crazy when we say that we have spoken to the owner. This place is NOT worth it. I don't know if it was poor planning or the fact that they saw a group of ten people of Asian American decent all together, whatever the reason their unprofessionalism was uncalled for. The best part was when the door GOONS had the audacity to tell us to go to to a martini bar around the corner and IF they didnt... Read more

Thank you 49 Grove my party and I had a blast this past Saturday. Generally I never write reviews unless I was disappointed in the venue. But the only reason I am writing one is thank 49 Grove for their honesty. I had made bottle reservation for about 20 ppl. about 2 weeks prior. But I received a phone call couple of days before saturday from the office saying that they were almost booked and needed to confirm my reservation. They had asked me to come in earlier so they can hold the table for me and mentioned that they will allow my guests to come in no matter what time they came. The place was fully booked and had a huge line outside and only allowed guests in that had reservations. I go out alot and never did any of the other venues that I had been to made such arrangements for me. They usually give you a BS excuse about your party and make you buy more bottles. I did end up buying more bottles but thankful that I wasnt pressured in doing so. Thanks again 49 Grove team you guys are t... Read more

Was here a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine were joking around today about how smelly this place is and decided to see what others said about this place. Obviously many of the reviews on here are written by the same people who probably work for the venue. This place is def. NOT what others have written. Its small, it smells, full of very unattractive people and thinks it's a club. The decor and couches are nice but other than that it's not worth coming here. If you want to go to a real club don't come here, even though they have a good club DJ.

This past Saturday I held my 30th birthday party at 49 Grove. Aram (the owner) was very helpful in setting up a plan, and offered up a free bottle in return for me choosing their venue. My friends and I could choose between a 2 or 3 hour open bar, or, if they were looking for a more low-key night, they could choose to pay cover and buy drinks on a one-off basis. Although there were some hiccups at the door when some friends arrived ahead of me, Aram quickly came to meet me and our wires were uncrossed. The venue was lit perfectly, with fun tunes and the perfect loungey vibe I was seeking. The table that Aram had arranged for us was in a great spot, had plenty of seating for my 30+ guests, and allowed us a great view of both the door and the dancefloor. When the open bar closed at 1am, our complimentary bottle came out and the party continued. Overall, I was treated very well by Aram & Caesar, as well as our lovely bartenders. If you like the feeling of having a personal concierge, this is certainly the perfect place to host an event! Held a bacholorette get together for my sister and couldn't have been more pleased from first contact to the end of our evening. Eric Biberman was professional, gracious, curteous and catered to all of our requests. We hosted a 3 hour top shelf open bar for 18 ladies in the den of the lounge which is tucked privately away which was perfect for our gorgeous stripper...which by the way was also recommended by the lounge ;) Eric asked that we provide his cell phone number to our entertainer and he took care of the rest! He made sure to meet the entertainer, escort him to an area for him to prepare, set him up with a tray and drinks in order for him to enter the room as a waiter to surprise the bride...every detail taken care of by Eric, down to the sparklers he provided for the stripper! Anya our waitress was wonderfully pleasant and made sure all of our glasses were always ... Read more

I love the lighting and atmospehere in this club. Its below ground so its all one floor. In the summer it gets a little hot but any venue will with enough body heat. Girls, its great if you have heels on, theres carpet inside =). The DJ plays great music all night. They even let my friends dance on tables, they're pretty carefree. Its a great place to make some memories in with your friends. I love this place.

!!!DO NOT TRUST THEIR PROMISES!!! !!!OVERBOOKED, WILL NOT GET IN DOOR!!! !!!WATERED DOWN DRINKS!!! !!!RUDE MANAGEMENT!!! Went on saturday night for friend's birthday. By midnight the place was certainly past legal capacity. My friend booked one of the backrooms over 3 weeks in advance. Granted, she was given an incredible deal, thanks to a promoter, buy 2 bottles get 3rd free. The Gray Goose we got was 100% certainly watered down, $250/watered down vodka, which was probably not even Gray Goose to begin with. The party started off alright, and the DJ was very good. Around 12:30 we were told to give up 1 of the 2 two tiny tables in the very tiny room that we already had squeezed a dozen ppl into. Another party now "demanded" the space to share with us and because they bought more bottles than us they suddenly became top priority. the situation was horribly handled by managment. Rather than apologize for the "misunderstanding" we were told that the club "NEEDS TO MAKE MONEY, AND THIS IS ... Read more

My friends and I went there and purchased a bottle. We later on purchased second bottle and was told by the manager that we could keep our bottle and return whenever we prefer. 3 weeks later when we wanted to revisit, their story changed. So basically, we spent over $300 for a bottle of vodka that has an expiration date: they can only keep a bottle for 7 days! (that's their new version of story.) Worst place ever!! DO NOT go there, specially after few drinks. They can totally rub all the money you have!

I just had my 25th birthday party at 49 Grove this past November 30th. I closed the space down just for my family and friends. It was amazing service. I had a little less then fifty people, and it was absolutely wonderful. Eric, the event director really took care of every single detail that I had requested. From the type of music the dj played to the food, to the look of the event, it was wonderful and he was wonderful. 49 Grove catered it for me, and the food was amazing! My guests are still raving about it. I had an opened bar, and usually the drinks at an open bar are watered down, not here, they were perfect. Every single detail was met to the core. Thanks Eric!

gra?tu?ity , noun, plural gra?tu?ities : something given voluntarily or beyond obligation usually for some service ; especially : tip This definition of "gratuity" from Merriam-Webster is completely lost on the management / bar staff of 49 Grove in the West Village. Given voluntarily? Beyond obligation? Not at this poor excuse for a club if you run a tab with your credit card. "Total f*cking B.S." are the words that came out of my mouth when I closed out my bill and saw a 20% gratuity already added to my total. I'm used to seeing this in restaurants when you have a party of 6 or more, but never at a bar and never for a party of two and never for credit card customers only. Seriously, WTF? Yeah, I know -- some foreigners from Europe don't know that tipping is customary here. Some people get drunk and forget. Some people are just plain cheap. I hate cheap people, too, and it stinks that some bartenders get stiffed. But seriously, WTF? It comes with the territory. If you want ... Read more

It was after 12 when I walked in there, and the place was nearly empty. Kids (or so they looked like) everywhere, not to mention that none of them were good looking. Bouncers are more strict than they need to be especially for a place like this. The interior design is like a maze, and not in a good way. "Secret" rooms that you don't even want to go into. Drinks are ridiculously exp. Went on a Sat, maybe that is why, but would never ever go back there again.

Went there for my best friends B-day. made reservations in advance for 5 bottles. expected great things from what ive heard but was greately disappointed. crowd was wack sloppy & fat people every where. worst experience was from the staff.... it was like they wanted us out of there or wanted us to buy more bottles. busboys would come & take away our drinks w/o asking us, so our bottle would finish fast. not only that but we had 3/4 of bottle left, they would come & empty it out in ice & take the bottle away. place was hot no AC, music sucked, low celing. place smelled cause of carpet through out the place. will never go back again. I have been to almost every lounge in the city & i would have to say this 1 was a huge disappointment for the amount of $ we dropped here.
