 | doobiesNhof (21) 11/09/2006 | Maybe some do but on the other hand most Republicans drive tax cuts and drive up the deficit.

 | SZinHonshu (44) 07/29/2005 | This is MOSTLY true. They want tax increases upon the wealthy. From the perspective of many liberals, wealthy people owe a greater debt to society (because it has allowed them to succeed) and, therefore, they should pony up more money for the common good.

 | Inmyopinion (10) 07/04/2005 | Oh yeah, that's just what I want, to have to pay more taxes. What a load of bull.

 | randomoscity (3) 05/25/2005 | I believe that the actual democrats, like any sane human being, do not enjoy emptying their pockets every April. However, I think they get a kick out of emptying the pockets of those of us that have worked hard enough to fill them. The most common arguement I hear from my Democrat friends is that those that can afford to give should help those that can't. This arguement is flawed in the following ways.
1)Doesn't this smack of communism? Absolute equality is not only impossible, but societally and individually unhealthy, and totally unfair. Why should I be the same as the next guy when he doesn't work as hard as I do? Which brings me to my next point.
2)Are we, as a country and society, actually going to punish the very foundation of our culture, the backbone of our society? The people that sit on their butts and demand welfare are a deadweight and nowhere near the level of an honest worker. The millionaires are millionaires because they worked and made millions. They are the reason that our economy works.
3)In a country that preaches equality of persons, how can we justify making a group of people pay all the taxes? The reason that Bush wants to cut the rich American's tax load is that it is huge! We pay approximately 73% of the nations taxes! Of course we deserve a break.
My conclusion is this: Regardless of reason and logic, Democrats simply love taxes. That is, the rich's taxes.

 | ledzep44 (2) 03/21/2005 | Totally not true. In fact, this doesn't even make sense because liberals in general don't do as well as conservatives. If you mean tax increase on the rich, your on the right track, but not general tax increases.

 | Enkidu (37) 03/15/2005 | I have no problem with paying taxes as long as the money is well spent. I work with local, state, and federal government on my job every day: I know how it works. In spite of the political propaganda you hear from BOTH sides, things often run more smoothly than you might realize.

 | Solenoid DH (19) 03/09/2005 | It depends on whether you're talking about grass-roots Democrats or the ones in office. The ordinary citizens I have known have mixed feelings about it - they complain about having to pay for high taxes, but most of them tend to vote for tax increases because it will (a) benefit them personally, those who work for the government, or (b) the politicians have threatened to reduce their fire & police department protection if we don't give them more money. If you're asking this question about the elected officials themselves - yes, Democrats love to tax and tax and tax. If you just read the record, this isn't even a matter of debate.

 | bbutler76 (7) 03/09/2005 | It's not that we love tax increases. I think it just makes sense that if the country is struggling financially the cream of the crop can afford to pay a little extra, so why shouldn't they. Don't give me that republican myth that they think everyone benefits when taxes aren't increased. That's BS. The lower middle class and the poor pay in the end because programs set up for them get scrapped when the US is in trouble financially(when a republican is in office. The rich/or rather well off don't suffer. Rich b*stards whine about paying more taxes. Boo Hoo Hoo. Gee I'm sorry you had to sell your boat or your summer home, man I am crying in the inside, really I am. But I guess It's more important for you to have your summer home than it is for some poor fellow to be able to afford to pay his bills. MY BAD

 | James76255 (17) 02/25/2005 | I just don't understand why Democrats don't see that the best way to improve the economy is to let people keep more of their own money.

 | gmanod (3) 02/12/2005 | No one loves taxes or taxation. Republicans have this deluded perception that liberals are interested in taxing for taxes sake and exactly what the money is for is irrelevant- we'll find something to spend it on. Not only is this not the case, but it's a ridiculous concept to believe at face value. Democrats due value programs for the public good more then Republicans- Education, clean environment, safe streets, hospitals, and publicly used facilities. So far Bush has cut taxes for the rich, while INCREASING spending. Exactly how is that going to be paid for? Presumably we need to pay for what we spend, and how do Republicans plan to do that without raising taxes? How about we cut some of the $429 Billion dollars that goes to the military each year? This specifically is something that perplexes me. How come Bush spends so much on the military (a total which is higher then the combined amount that the next 30 highest spending countries spend on their military) and then have soldiers in Iraq with no armor? Where exactly is that money going and who are we competeing with? The military budget needs to be trimmed. No new taxes is fine, but there needs to be sacrifices and it shouldn't be that poor kids don't get to learn.

 | Mr.Political (18) 02/10/2005 | Too many Democrats feel that the only way to fix fisical problems is to increase taxes rather than reduce wasteful spending. True, their are some Republicans that also love taxes, but that doesn't make it any better...
