0 Stars. Excite used to be a solid and reliable internet based email provider. I have used Excite for over ten years and have watched it's service and support quality degrade. Excite has made one bad decision after another leading to customers being unable to access email for days, retreive saved emails or even obtain support. I have worked in the IT industry for many years and can tell you this is NOT how it is done. This industry is all about quality of service in both your product and your support to customers. Excite has failed this repeatedly. I have again been unable to access my email, now for weeks, unable to obtain support and will probably again be told my email has been lost, IF support ever actually responds. This is unacceptable and, frankly, intolerable. I hope people will continue to share their bad experiences such as this so that others may not suffer such consequences. I doubt Excite even reads such reviews, which is even more pitiful, expecially in tough economic ... Read more

gosh. I am probably above Excite's demo target. The ONLY reason why I keep YOU is because I like my address. YOU dum fks. You could be selling relevant advertising to me. Where are your advertising reps selling spots so you can keep your customers?????????? Biz school 101- 80-20 rule.....in your case it's 20-80. Why would you do this?????? Are you stupid. Whoever you are, you make no sense. Customer sat. is the key to all business. Your survival is bleak. If you are going to abandon email, please let your subscribers know. I WANT YOUR STATEMENT

If you like waiting for days to receive your email, then Excite Webmail is surely for you. Otherwise, why would you EVER choose this?

It was almost like they did it on purpose. They took a reasonable online email service that had been around for years and turned it into a complete disaster with the 'upgrade' from hell. For over ten years I had four accounts there for various hobbies and I have let them all be deleted. When we begged and pleaded with them to restore the former usable interface from the current UNusable one they covered their ears with their hands and chanted "We can't hear you." I would like to note that if anyone wants to put a face on this travesty check out BlueTie founder and total asscheese David Koretz, his oily hands are all over Excite email's downfall and demise. Shame, shame, shame.

Same as everyone else, since they supposedly "upgraded" it has been awful. I don't always recieve emails and most of the ones I do show up days later than they were sent. I've learned not to use this email for anything important anymore!

The new email is really worse than terrible. I, like all the others to review the product, used it for years and would have rated the old email program with 4.5 - 5 stars. Now I am afraid to use this email address for anything that may be important. I suppose the only mail that makes it way to my address is junk. I hope the advertisers that are buying thier email list are getting money back. I turned a "blind eye" the first few times they had problems and blamed thier new "service provider" but if they can't get it corrected after 7 months... I have not hope for future improvements.

Pretty much the same as everyone else: The old excite email was pretty good. but the new one is pretty poor. Latest news is that I previously had a "premium" account that I paid for. It was not free. But now every time I log in, I am asked to select a sponsor and "If you don't make a selection, one will be made for you". Lately, emails have been taking as long as a few days to show up in my inbox. Excite shows the date & time when they were received, but cleverly doesn't show when they were sent, even if you expand the header. I know that they are taking a long time because I have sent some emails from other email accounts and waited for them to arrive. Wake up excite! You can't last long this way.

Excite used to be a fairly good website for email. It worked flawlessly for years. Ever since there improvements and upgrades went into effect I and many other users are having serious issues with lost email, difficulty logging in, viewing email and considerable down time. The older version worked fine for years. The new upgraded version is considerably slower and less efficient. There are superfluous subroutines involved in retrieving email. On a number of occasions they didn't work either. You have to click on the email you want to read and wait for a pop-up window to appear and sometimes a window opens but there is nothing there to read or it doesn't open at all and subsequently you have to repeat the previous action. I have also received calls from associates who tell me that email sent to my Excite account was returned or bounced back to them. I have switched over to a G mail and Hot-mail accounts which seem to work much better. I also set up an email notifier which doesn'... Read more

I used Excite mail happily for years. However - with the "upgrade" Excite mail went from an excellent email platform to an absolutely horrible one (and that's being kind!). Very slow to load, not at all intuitive, and all around badness. Not only was the upgrade a HUGE mistake, Excite has not responded to the hordes of unhappy users. DO NOT even bother with this site! Unfortunately, I had to provide a star rating so I chose one star - I really wanted to choose zero stars.

Wow! Reading all these reviews made me laugh out loud. Excite was my main e-mail provider for more than 10 years. It was my first, too, I think. But as e-mail became more important in my life (paperless bills, friends, important work/school communication), Excite became less and less reliable. For a while there, I had this intermittent problem where I could only log on once in a while because it said my password was incorrect. (It wasn't.) I don't have to say how angry and even panic-stricken I became. Someone on this listing said this earlier that Excite doesn't really care. I agree down to the soles of my shoes. I simply got the impression that they were trying to get rid of us once and for all. The only way they CAN keep us is to ignore our pleas for getting out. It's like a totalitarian regime or MySpace, or something. Genius. That way, they can still say they X-amount of subscribers, even though I only go to my Excite account every few weeks, to trudge through the spam, just... Read more

I actually got into support and received a reply. They say it's because I haven't cleared my cache, LOL. I even gave them the exact error message. My email loads and stalls at 30% and if I wait long enough it gives an error unable to load ./EXTTravel.js. That doesn't sound like a specific problem on my computer alone. I don't have any problem getting anywhere else on the internet. It started where I had to reload once, then twice then 3-4 times to get in. Now I can't get in at all

Slow as cold tar. Hangs with every browser I use except for the one at work. Message selection/deletion/etc. often lags seconds or even minutes behind mouse clicks and results in the wrong messages being deleted and/or moved. Hypertext links fail to work in the preview window mandating additional windows be opened. Spends more time downloading Flash Player ads than retrieving my email. And worst of all: SUSPECT MESSAGES GO INTO A BLACK HOLE! The junk mail box indicates no spam received for 3 weeks. We all know this is too good to be true. Amongst the stuff that has been filtered out over the last month are ads and newsletters from several companies I've signed up for and numerous site enrollment verifications. This was the last straw. A long long time ago I used a search engine call Webcrawler that evolved into excite. I even suffered through their clumsily implemented acquisition by AT&T; @home network. No longer, I've moved on. If I could give it zero stars, I would've given... Read more

Santa knows. He knows when you've been bad, because you've been trying to e-mail him from Excite and the mails keep getting bounced. He knows when you've been good -- while you were waiting for Excite to load, you signed up for yahoomail (and also ran a marathon, and also finished your taxes, shoveled your stairs and then took a nice nap). And Santa is giving Excite the lowest star rating possible - one star. Then, not entirely on point, Santa thereafter started getting a little drunk and calling David Koretz of BlueTie Mr. "Bad Internet Mizer". It was about this time -- when St. Nick's fingers got redder than his nose as we was clicking on an excite mail 20 times to open it --that he called David Koretz "Reindeer Shit"", and we got two candycanes for the kids and hustled them the heck out of there. Some things children just do not need to hear from a drunken Santa. Excite Sucking -- well, kids know that already. Unlike excite and bluetie execs, the young'ins have minds. Even Little Ci... If I could give half a star I would!!! This thing is JUNK. I've been using excitemail as my promary email account for 10 years. Since the transistion I get EVERY spam with a nice "SPAM" next to it so I know it's spam. The fliters are now non existent and almost everytime I click to open a message it gives the message: "The dialog was blocked from being displayed Your web browser appears to have pop-up blocking enabled. Please turn off pop-up blocking and try again or display the window inside this browser." Click try again and it works every time. This is EVERY TIME you click to open a message!!! I emailed tech support and got a generic reply stating how you must have a competent computer to run "The New Excite". Guys, I have a new Quad core with 3 Gig of RAM. Kiss my ass! I have switched to Gmail.

I hate the "New" Excite and have been using it less and less as time progresses and I am able to move routings and notifications to my other e-mail accounts. I use to use Excite frequently each day and now avoid it for days at a time until I have a lot of time to kill while I get frustrated that I can't just increment through the e-mails without having to click-click-click around the pop-ups and other frustrations. Does anyone know if EXCITE is aware of how mad their user base is? Are they loosing business as a result?

Just like many others, a minus star would be better in this case. I was an Excite user from the beginning but it is time for a change. Watching the "loading" icon over and over makes me think of all the ways I could become violent!!! It makes me seething MAD that they can charge for a Premium account, collect ad money and yet do not deliver the product. Burn in hell? Oh yes! Everyone associated with this useless product should suffer.

WORSE email system on internet. After many years of using excite mail some dumb retarded idiots decided to change system. Let me explain according to Wikipedia what an idiot is people from excite; Idiot is a word derived from the Greek ?d??t??, idiotes ("person lacking professional skill," "a private citizen," "individual"), from ?d???, idios ("private," "one's own").[1] In Latin the word idiota ("ordinary person, layman") preceded the Late Latin meaning "uneducated or ignorant person."[2] Its modern meaning and form dates back to Middle English around the year 1300, from the Old French idiote ("uneducated or ignorant person"). The related word idiocy dates to 1487 and may have been analogously modeled on the words prophet[3] and prophecy.[4][5] The word has cognates in many other languages EXCITE = BUNCH OF IDIOTS IN SAME ROOM !! Go get jobs at Yahoo, Iam sure they need ya there !!! Liz Jones

Excite email used to be simple, fast, and user-friendly. Not so any more. They recently (Summer 2008) switched over to some BLOATED ajax disaster of a system. AJAX is sort of like the Flash equivalent of back-end application coding. Lots of promise, but mostly unnecessary BLOAT. The interface is slow, slow, SLOW... even on the fastest connection. Even worse if you have 256 DSL. Forget it if you are still on dial-up. I get many reports of people's emails getting bounced when trying to sent to me. Often my messages sent to other legitimate addresses get bounced back, because they have been supposedly "black-listed" by the spam filtering that Excite uses. Guess what? If you are black-listed you have to pay to get de-listed. It amounts to extortion. Many times people will say they sent a message and it doesn't arrive for days. I have used Excite email for over 10 years, and I like the portal part of it, but no more! The new ajax-based Excite email will be the demise of Exc... Read more

Everytime I click on the first email when I log in I get a warning box wanting asking me to stop running the script because it will slow down my computer. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT!!!! I've had my excite mail account for over 10 years (it was my first one). It has been going down slowly over the years, but these past few months have seen an acceleration in the decline. The decision to have a banner add on the bottom of the page??? And all these nonsense icons on top of the page brings your "useable" space to read an email to nothing. The last draw for me: webmail.excite.com and mail.excite.com were taken down (same way mail.yahoo.com does for example). They force you to go through their portal to drive up revenue. Funny also: Netflix has asked me to stop using that email as their server was unable to receive emails (on shipping/recieved dvds) too often! Samething from Citibank, and now even Amazon has asked me to use a different email... strange coincidence. I won't even start talking about the spam filter...So... I say goodbye, thanks for the good years.. I've started the process of migrating all my accounts to a different email.

Garbage, filth, stench. This is the lowest of the low in terms of email. I want to give it zero stars. 99% of my email in my inbox is spam. The funny thing is, when you increase your spam blocking level, the spam actually increases! "Hey, isn't that what you asked for?" Let's see, at the top of the list of garbage is the fact they use your own email address to mail other people porn as though it is YOU sending the email. I've gotten 'failed to send' messages, with my account name, and porn links attached inside. That is just about as low a company can go, to use your email address to sell other people filth and male performance enhancement drugs from Canada. On their brand new app, which takes 10x as longer to load than their old one, there is no "select all" for to delete all of the junk email in masses. You'll get 150 junk emails a day, most of them for porn and viagra, and you have to drag and drop each one individually into the trash folder or hold the shift key to ... Read more

I had to click on a star to give this company a rating. I looked for the negative stars but could not find any. This company sucks. The new excite email is the worst thing I've had to do battle with on the web. There is no way to sign in, there is no way to find answers, there is no one to ask for help, the help menu sucks, and they won't answer email requests for help or explanation. They just lost a long time customer. Gmail is much better and I can use it from my phone. I saw the corporate phone number below: Barry Diller 212-314-7400. I suggest we all give Barry a call and tell him in person what we think aboout the new email. Even if it's not his responsibility I'll bet that after the first 50 calls or so he'll contact the person who is responsible.

A new wrinkle on the Excite e-mail problem. Suddenly, the ENTIRE contents of my Inbox (going back a year or so) was moved to "Junk Mail". I had to manually move each item I wished to keep back into the Inbox.
