Admittedly this is my very first 1st bikini wax so I can't compare the pain factor. BUT I can definitely review the customer service! anna is amazing. She is sooo nice and sweet. She made feel proud of the way I handled the pain, but not condescendingly. She talked me through the entire process, including letting me know which ones will hurt the least and which would hurt the most. She has the ability to make small talk to get your mind off the pain but not in an annoying way. I decided to have a bikini wax because I'm going on my honeymoon this week. It was a wonderful decision. I will continue to see anna for my waxes and I will for sure work myself up to a full brazilian. One day! Oh she also did my eyebrows and they look fantastic!

I've been to many places for a brazilian but i've never had such a good experience as i did with Anna. She's very sweet and patient and i would definitely recommend her to everyone who wants to have a perfect Brazilian done. Call and ask for Anna, i'm sure you won't regret it..

I recently had my hair highlighted by Sonia and she was extraordinary. I must admit i was nervous, see I had been coloring my own hair black for at least a year. Sonia explained everything she was going to do before hand and put me right at ease. The process was painless and the results AMAZING! My hair is healthy and shiny! Sonia was both freindly and outgoing! I HIGHLY recommend her!!

I came in to Amaci Salon and got a haircut today from Amad. I went to get a fauxhawk and it was a very good experience. He used quality tools, even razing the hair. He did it all seemingly in one motion. Previously when i got a fauxhawk it was an annoying experience as the stylist would constantly have to cycle back and forth from top to sides and seemed to need me to guide them. Especially on the sides, I constantly had to guide them to the correct length. Amad got the perfect side length all in one go and the top went equally as well. The fauxhawk has nice layers and is easily one of the best haircuts i've ever received. At $30 it's hard to beat. I plan on coming into the city in the future to get all of my haircuts from him.

Best decision I ever made in going to Amaci Salon. I used to get my hair cut and colored on Newbury street and can honestly say that I wished I knew about Amaci Salon sooner. I scheduled an appointment with Sonia because she was highly recommended. I was really nervous about trying someone new considering I had been with the same stylist for years, but in today's economy I just couldn't afford to keep up with Newbury Street prices. I also work in town so Amaci is in a pretty convenient location. Sonia was extremely professional and super sweet. I instantly felt comfortable and knew I was in good hands - this girl really knows her stuff! Let me just say... BEST highlights I've EVER had and the haircut was awesome too! Thanks to Sonia... she truly rocks!! I will definitely be back to see her and will also be recommending her to all of my friends and co-workers.

I'm from DC but was visiting friends in Boston for 2 weeks and staying at the Radison.. I asked the concierge where to get my hair done because my hair was in rough shape.. I needed a cut and I needed it fast. They told me to go down the street to Amaci Salon. I walked in and was instantly welcomed and only had to wait about two minutes. The owner cut my hair and it came out awesome- I love it.. Definitely worth trying out a new place and now I know that whenever I come to Boston I'll have a great place to get my hair done! Thank you Amaci! -Janie Fuller.

My roommate and I found Amaci through Citysearch, and we both ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I've been going to Sonia since September, and I have never had a better cut! The highlights she does are absolutely perfect too! There are just enough of them, and the color is amazingly natural. People are constantly asking me where I get my hair done! With such a reasonable prices and easy access via the green line, Amaci is absolute perfection! I couldn't recommend it anymore highly! Also, remember to ask for Sonia, she's the BEST! This salon is an absolute find!

I (used to) have very curly, FRIZZY, hair. After washing my hair, it took me probably an hour to blow dry and style it. {& believe me that is NOT something that I enjoyed doing.} I looked into the Keratin Treatment and decided to give it a whirl... Why not right? So I made my appointment at Amaci Salon- The whole process took a little over 3 hours but it was WELL WORTH IT. After leaving, I was instructed to wait 3 days before washing my hair or getting it wet...After what seemed like the longest 3 days of my life, I finally washed my hair and was so excited with the outcome! It took me.. NO LIE... 20 minutes to dry my hair -- it is now soooooo smooth and the frizz is gone! I couldn't believe it... I love it! All I have to say is Amaci's keratin treatment is a miracle worker! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! -Alex A.

That rating is for Amad's cut and color. He's one of the best! This rating also chooses to ignore the waxing services - please do not go here for waxing. You will be so sorry if you do. I started seeing the stylist Maria here about 4 years ago maybe.... she was ok and I stopped going until I got a Groupon for a haircut and bikini wax. (To her credit, Amad asserts she's improve a lot over the years). Upon my return, I had my first cut with Amad. HE DID SUCH A GREAT JOB. First of all, he talked me into blond highlights instead of my usual "it's approaching fall and I need to go goth girl" habit, and I really loved it. Who'd a thunk? Secondly, he respected my wishes to not go super layer-y (my life's struggle has been against hair dressers who want to put a million long layers in my hair). The end product looked fabulous and grew out beautifully. I didn't need to cut it for 5 months! Dare I say it was the BEST HAIRCUT I'VE EVER HAD? [but seriously, minus 1 star for the price. I know ... Read more

last week I happaned to be in Boston, went to Amaci salon, the person that took care of me her name is Anna (did waxing), she was very through and knowledgable about her work and how to handle a customer. She took the time to provide a great customer service. I was very happy with my first experience with this salon and I'm planning about coming back to them very soon because of the excellent first impression and service I've gotten. Thank you Rosa

I just moved to Boston and needed a new salon. My initial plan was to try out a few places & see which one I liked the best. I live right down the street from Amaci and decided to try it out & after going here I know I didn't need to look any further.. I got my hair cut and also got my eyebrows waxed. The cut was awesome and I even made my next appointment to try out some highlights. The waxing was great as well and fairly priced I thought. It was quick and painless and the girl who did it was very sweet. As someone new to the area, I would say Amaci is a great salon and would definitely recommend it.

I was referred from a friend to Amaci (& got the 20% off referral discount, which was nice.) I hadn't gotten a hair cut in a long time, and I mean a loooooong time, so it was a much needed visit. I usually don't write reviews, but I loved my hair so much, I figured why not help people decide that Amaci was a great choice for a salon- I asked the guy who did my hair, which happened to be the owner, for a few inches off with some layers and it turned out great!.. Made my very boring hair look more exciting. I also did this gloss treatment on my hair that made it look so healthy. I would say Amaci Salon is the go-to place for a great cut and excellent service.

Updated review.... I was searching for a new salon and wanted to spruce up my look. Amaci had a lot of great reviews so I thought I was safe! I have never had highlights before and wanted to brighten up my hair. I have to say I LOVE the highlights. Perfect coloring, perfect distribution. I have gotten compliments on my coloring. My husband loved it as well. The hair cut...not the greatest. My prior review was a 1 for this reason alone. After a few days I was able to style my hair in a way that made it look decent. I was contemplating going back into the salon to have it fixed, but the only alternative would have been to cut my hair shorter, which I did not want to do. Once my hair grows out a bit I'll have a lot more options. I will return to Amaci once more, but I will be VERY VERY clear about what I DON"T want for a cut.

Hello Citysearch users! We love to hear all of your reviews and feedback about Amaci. Everybody's input is helping us understand what we are doing well and what we need to improve on. We wanted to say thank you for taking the time to write about us! Lately, however, we have been receiving some negative reviews that to us, do not seem legitimate. The reviews are very vauge and do not seem as though they are from real clients who have visited the salon. So that we can improve, we hope that these reviews are actually from our clients and not somebody trying to put us down and shine a negative light on Amaci. - Alissa from Amaci Salon

I went to Amaci after my husband gave me a Groupon for a haircut and waxing... I was hesitant at first because I usually don't like trying new places but honestly, I thought the salon was great. --I got an awesome cut. My stylist, Ammad, gave me the exact style I asked for and I was really happy with it (which was a surprise to me since I am one of those girls who is very picky when it comes to my hair.) --I tried threading for the first time.. Anna, the girl who did my eyebrows was so nice and the whole process was really quick and simple. -- I would recommend amaci because of the fact that the stylist made sure he knew exactly what I wanted before starting the hair cut which is something that I value when it comes to salons.

In response to Alissa from Amaci's claim that the negative reviews are from fake patrons, to be more specific and less vague, my stylist was Mona and I visited the salon in January. I'm not sure why anyone would post a false, negative review. I stick by the horrible experience I had at this salon and warn other patrons from frequenting an establishment that doesn't even have the courtesy for its clients to sweep up prior customer's hair.

I love Amaci- I've been going for about a year now and have never had a bad experience.. I get my highlights done with Amad and he mixes my color to perfection so that It is exactly what I have in mind. The atmosphere is welcoming unlike many other salons in boston and the prices are very reasonable. The first time I went to Amaci I wanted to get my eyebrows waxed. The friendly Anna then alked me into getting them threaded rather than waxed and I am so glad that she did! They lasted so much longer than waxing and she did a fantastic job-I would definitely recommend Amaci to anyone looking for a friendly and very talented salon :-)

I bought the groupon and I went with a friend who did not use the groupon and paid full price for a cut and color. We both received terrible service. We had to literally beg to get the haircut we wanted. We went in with a very specific idea of what we wanted. I said "cut my hair to here and my bangs to here". The guy kept stopping short and saying "good?" and I kept having to repeat my original request. The other stylist dyed my friends hair back to her original color when she asked for a completely different color. His excuse at the end was, "well you said you didn't want something high maintenance". Alright, fine, but she wanted something entirely different and you gave her whatever color you wanted to instead. If you have to walk a stylist through a haircut, you might as well go to Super Cuts for $16 because that is exactly what you will get at Amaci Salon. I usually pay $70+ for my haircuts and thought I was getting a deal on a Back Bay salon, but save your money and take that $50 ... Read more

I recently went to Amaci and had a great experience. I needed to get my highlights re-done and wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. I have blond hair but was not sure if I wanted to continue with my highlights during the winter or go a little bit darker. I had my appointment with Amad and he had multiple suggestions and options for me. He ended up putting low lights in to complimate my color and overall I loved it! The cut was great as well as the color and everyone at the salon was very nice and fun to talk to! It was a great experience and I definitely recomend this salon to anybody in Boston!

I am new to the Boston area and heard about Amad from a friend of a friend. Although it is a far drive for me to get to the salon, it is well worth it. I had boring hair that was definitely in need of a change. Amad took the time to explain what he thought would look good for me as far as style and color. He and his staff were courteous, efficient, and the outcome was fantastic. I can't even count the number of compliments I got on my new "do". The prices are very reasonable for a salon of this caliber. I would recommend Amaci Salon to anyone looking for a great style and color.

I am a student in Boston and have always found it hard to find the right place to get my hair done. I've had many bad experiences with different salons around the city where the staff was rude and condisending and the cut was not definetetly not worth the steep prices. About a year ago I finally found Amad at Amaci. Everyone at Amaci was so friendly and welcoming as soon as I entered the salon. I got my highlights done with Amad and they turned out fantastic! (and the price was reasonable... finally!) I have been going back ever since and definitely recommend Amaci for people looking for a high quality salon with out the snobby atmosphere and high prices.

I just moved to Boston from NYC and had disappointing experiences at two highly-recommended Boston salons -- nothing horrifying, just nothing spectactular. I was in search of spectacular, and I found it with Amad at Amaci Salon. The salon is as unassuming as Amad himself -- none of the overly-stylized, image-drenched packaging you find on Newbury Street, but this man makes magic with foil and scissors. Amad spent a ton of time with me...I got a perfect beige blonde -- no artificial platinum, brassy gold or drab ash tones -- and at my request my boring, mid-length hair was transformed via a very stylish, versatile, short cut. The prices were more affordable than 95% of the salons I've looked at in Boston and I couldn't be happier with the results. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Amad at Amaci Salon.

I went to this salon tonight, looking for a new look. The receptionist was immediately welcoming, offering me something to drink, and providing me with a fresh smock. My stylist, Curtis, was attentive to my needs, making suggestions about what would look good and asking for my input. The atmosphere was relaxing and cool, the staff neat and friendly. I would highly recommend this salon for anyone looking for a new 'do, coloring, or just a trim.

Maria is extremely professional and will immediately put you at ease and talk you through different style and cut options that will compliment your style and needs. She never rushes through a service gives really wonderful color consultation as well. I'd never colored my hair before going to Maria a few years ago, and she suggested a tinted gloss treatment, which I would highly recommend as well. I've gotten more compliments after an appointment with her than just about any other time! ha. Overall, the salon is clean and well-maintained, all the stuff you'd expect. Prices are reasonable and staff is super helpful/friendly. Looking forward to my next trip there!

I am typically not the type of person who writes reviews but I feel I must after recently having the Brazilian Keratin Treatment done!It has changed my life! I have cried over my hair for years, struggling with the dryness and frizziness... not anymore :)! After reading several articals on the treatment I decided to go to Amaci Salon for a consultation with Maria Rivera and was quickly put at ease with her knowlede and her professionalism. I was impressed with the amont of hair classes she attends and her clear passion for doing hair. My hair has never been so easy to manage, the frizz is completely gone! It is shiny and healthy and Im just thrilled with the whole experience. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

I'm looking for a new salon for roots, highlights, & cut. I noticed that the owner answers every unsatisfied customer & tries to resolve it. That says a lot to me.~ I had a horrible experience at James Joseph Salon on Newbury Street. I spent over $200 on a nightmarish experience, "won't bore you" then another $200 to fix their mistakes! James Joseph never had the decency to get back to me. (I immediately sent him a personal letter) no reply! I look forward to trying this salon, & I will definitely be writing a review~ What James Joseph doesn't know, is I have a big mouth & a big venue to voice my mouth. Shame on you James Joseph~Hat's off to the owner of this salon.

I have been getting my hair highlighted and colored all over the world. Once I discovered the talent of Sonya Alexopolous, I looked no further. She is a fantastic stylist with a real talent for color. Sonya could work anywhere she wanted. Amaci Salon is very lucky to have her. I also found Amaci to be a very professional and luxurious salon to go to. They have a wonderful wax and threading service that is very reasonably priced and done by Anna.

Amad @ Amaci has been my go-to-guy for hair for quite some time now. Each visit far exceeds my expectations. His highlights are excellent, best I've ever had (and I am picky!) His glosses leave hair very smooth and shiny, and do not fade. Love his cuts too. I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else. I've also had eyebrow threading with Ana and they came out awesome! She's a pro!

She was gentle and soft-spoken and made me feel always secure. My brows looked amazing afterword and I just wish to commend Ana for her character and for her expertise. I highly recommend threading by Ana. I've never tried waxing before but I trust her very much and I have never walked out of there disappointed, also I have heard that threading is a much more pleasant experience. Maria is the BEST hair stylist at Amaci. She is a great girl who is not too chatty and takes time to get to know your hair and style requirements. She has been cutting my ultra curly fuzzy tresses for two years now and never a bad cut. She understands that sometimes curly hair does that triangle thing when the layers are weird and long. She never pushes too much product or coloring. It is short, quick appointment but I am never made to feel rushed. The salon is sleek and modern. Everything is clean and neat (with lots of great mags to read if you have to wait). Amaci as a salon is wonderful (Newbury St service and style without the price) and Maria is the shining gem of the place!

Amad has been my stylist more the last 3 years, his expertise in hair design including colors and highlights and cut are very impressive. I love the work that he does on my hair every single time. He is absolutely the best , but this week I went to buy some product and The attitude from the Receptionist was Terrible, When I try to pay her she try to screw me for the rest of my money , especially in today's economy, I expect nothing but the best, and I received nothing but the worst from her. She is poor and does know how to control herself. Terrible experience overall and she was rude and didn't listen to what I had to say at all. Don't go here...

For some guys, getting a haircut is right up there with going to the doctor or dentist: a necessary inconvenience. You want to look good-who doesn't?--but you don't want it to be a hassle. Amad makes it painless. He's amiable, talented, and gives a guy a terrific, long-lasting cut. From what I read on the site, he and his colleagues are very adept at serving the needs of a variety of constituencies. Let me put in a word for those men who just want an excellent haircut, without the drama and without wasting your time.

I have been to the Amaci Salon for about 4 times and each time was a wonderful treat for myself! I have relatively short hair therefore I only trust Amad with the blades to style it. He makes my hair light and bouncy - I highly recommend this place for people new to Boston looking for a great place to get regular hair cuts.
