It settle for consensus that it was just a bad idea. And maybe an apology to the loved ones of those who died.

The first Gulf War was fought for one reason only. To protect the flow of oil to the west. The second Gulf War was a personal decision by baby Bush in retaliation for the attempted assassination of Bush sr. If we used our resources and had a policy to be energy efficient we wouldn't need to be over there. If one looks at Arab history we will note that any time of peace has occurred when the Arab countries were ruled by leaders who used an iron fist. They were more than happy to stay within their borders and slaughter their own people. Bush was warned by Arab specialists and the Saudi King about upsetting the balance of power in the area yet went ahead anyway thinking he would be hailed a liberating hero. Well, he was wrong and we are now faced with a quagmire that will never get better. Arabs cannot live in a true Republic style of country. We are defending people who for the most part want our money and scream for us to build them utilities and schools yet will not take up arms to... Read more

We were SUPPOSED to be going after Al Quada, the terrorits who planned then executed the attack on America that resulted in the collapse of the twin towers and the deaths of so many people. Instead, Bush and his cohorts used the attack as an excuse to attack an oil rich nation. I say excuse because a think tank called the "Project For A New American Century" that had come up with a "plan for America" which included attacking Iraq had sent letters suggesting such an attack as early as 1998, to the Clinton Administration. Look it up on Wikipedia, it's all there.

This war was the idea of BUSH and all of his cronies. Maybe ALL of the people who voted for him 'AND' ONLY the people who voted for him should be forced go to war for him...since they believe it's such a noble cause and everything!

Unjustifiable, not to mention ill-advised and poorly planned. Illegal is almost beside the point, with everything else going against it. The U.S. resources (human and monetary) being expended in Iraq are a terrorist's wet dream.

I don't know why we were even there. He said there were WMD's right? Well; Where are they? He is more pre-occuppied with Saddam and Iraq than he was with Afghanistan and Bin Laden; it just makes no sense.

I do not think that our war in Iraq was justified by the evidence presented. Going to war on untruths and half-truths is a very dangerous thing to do. In no way, shape or form did I see Iraq as a clear and present danger justifying our pre-emptive strike against a legitamate government. I do agree that Saddam Hussein was a danger to his own people, and that the people of Iraq are most likely better off without him in power, but I do not agree to the methods used to remove him. I do think we need to finish it right now that we have opened the box, so to speak. We have a good start towards that with the formation of the interim civilian government, but we have much work still to do. One big job is to dismantle the private militias of fanatics like Al Sadr and hold those few accountable for their actions. Once we have stabilized the infrastructure and internal security arrangements, then it would be appropriate to step away and bring troops home. Until the job is done, we need to stay and... Well, here's the scoop 'b calm'... geopolitical science 101: Since we are the world's only superpower, 2/3 of the world will hate us no matter WHAT we do. The reason 2/3 of the world does hate us is because we are made the convenient scapegoat for those countries' ills by their leaders, in order to deflect criticism of themselves. Blame the Great Satan for your problems and those countries leaders escape having to enact real reforms within their countries. Decade upon decade, we are the leader in foreign aid spending (by far). Doesn't matter... if the masses in those contries are uneducated and constantly barraged with negative propaganda by their governments, they will continue to hate us. This is REAL WORLD stuff. The Democrats would have you think that everyone in the world is just like us, just that big corporate interests keep getting in the way... we should all be able to sing cum-buy-yah together through dialogue and understanding. I got news for ya, Those people over th... Read more

The war was many things, but it is in no way justified. If Bin Laden bombed the twin towers, then it is he that the U.S. should go after. Capturing Saddam means nothing. The Bush administration has tried many times to link Iraq to 9-11 so that they would have a reason to go to war in Iraq; is it a vengence father/son thing? perhaps... In any case, it is tangeant, a displacement of U.S. energies, and it is utterly pointless. It has cost Americans billions, increased the national deficit, and created ill sentiment towards Americans around the globe. No Weapons of mass destruction have been found, which was the U.S.' premises for war. We Americans risk being in another lengthy, pointless war, scattered with our dead. Bottom line: reminiscent of Vietnam.
