My two friends and I were looking at places for next Fall online. I got a call from an agent named Steven @ Uptown. He said he could show us some places so we met him at his office the next day. He showed us a couple places but would not stop pressuring us into signing at the Triangle. This dude was sucha creep. He drunk texts my roommate all the time now and we didn't use him again. Ughhhh stay AWAY from this place.

At first when I contacted Uptown I got ditched by this one dude like 3 times. However, when I called his manager he set me up with Russell, who has been a cut above every other person I had showing me around for places. Very good at what he does.

we leased with them and they told us the place was gas and that we could use our own washer/dryer units. There were some in the property, when we looked at it. We were told they would be taken out....anyhow, we sign the lease, then they tell us, the washer dryer units have to stay in there, then they tell us it is not gas, but electric...my electric bill for january is 400 dollars!!!! i cant afford that, i used the heat maybe like 5 times!!! PLus they dont fix anything you tell them to. do not do business with them!!

My current roommate and I had Russell Cavin as a realtor and we loved him! He was easy to work with, extremely flexible with time and was friendly. You could give him exactly what you were looking for with a budget and he could come up with various places WITH deals. He even went further to show us some possibilities we hadn't even considered before. We absolutely love the place we are moving into. Russell is also easy to get a hold of, I never went more than 12 hours without hearing back from him and I usually heard back from him immediately. He will answer any questions you have and it feels like he is actually working on your side and not just there for your money!

I previously used Ely Properties to search for apts. They found a great place for me, but I felt like the realtor showing me the places tried WAY too hard. She was hard to talk to and over-did it. So, my roomates and I used Russell Cavin at Uptown and he was great to work with! He was very helpful in finding us exactly what we wanted and he returned our calls in a timely manner. He worked with me on payment issues (I didn't have the deposit check right away, but he went ahead and let my two roomates turn in theirs and sealed the deal without having my check in hand yet). I would say Russell is a trustworhy guy and very relaxed and easy to talk to. He made me feel comfortable and was professional, but at the same time laid back and down to earth. My boyfriend and his roomates used Russell and had a great experience as well. I would reccommend him.

I leased my rental property with Joe from Uptown Realty in September. I contacted Joe multiple times to find out the status of my property and he never responded. I left him a voice mail every day for 2 weeks and I didn’t receive a phone call or email back. Finally he had his assistant contact me in November about my property. Once they had a potential renter they took my property off the market and said they had a non- refundable deposit and were waiting for the lease to be signed. One week before the move in date they contacted me stating that the renter had backed out and they gave her back her deposit “because her mom was an attorney”. Shady! I would strongly advise you to never due business with Uptown Realty.

Joe Yager "sold" our UT students on our rental for them. We took over 40 pictures of the poor condition of the house upon move in-they took pictures BEFORE our students moved out!! Showing couches, beds, an unclean kitchen, etc,etc..We are VERY involved parents and I cannot tell you all how really horrified we are by the lies and dishonesty-I was blaming the mgt company but Joe Yager is responsible for the company he chooses to keep. I will call the Better Bus B tomorrow and encourage all of you that have had to put up with this to do the same..you can also contact the Texas Board of Realtors. Yhis is shameful...now I realize we are just one of many that have been abused!

Russell Cavin is great. During our home pursuit process, he was available at all times of need. He could be relied upon to go that extra mile to ensure that we found the place we were ultimately looking for. Our purchase encountered a lot of obstacles and Russell was tireless in overcoming each obstacle. He was a dream to work with and he will be the first person that I call for future business. Please feel free to call me if you want further background on this referral - 302 750-9132.

Jason Fuller was a huge help; he showed us several places that fit everything we asked for, and we were able to get the one we wanted after a couple of weeks. The whole process was very quick and simple. Thanks so much!

I worked with Uptown agent Neal Krieger in search of a house for the 2009 school year. I have never had an easier leasing experience. He was helpful, straight forward, and determined. I recommend for any individual leasing in the Austin area to see Neal, he will get you the best deal humanly possible.

I worked with Ryan Gamble to find apartments for pre-lease for the past 2 years. She always had great suggestions and lots of helpful insights about the properties. She definitely always went the extra mile to help me see the places I was interested in, even if that took endless phone calls to the owners or other agents. She helped me find 2 great apartments in West Campus and made the process quick and hassle free.

My realtor Russell Cavin from Uptown Realty really worked his a** off for my friends and I. I was referred to Russell from a friend of mine who swears by him and has used him as his realtor for the past 2 years. I am so thankful I took my friends advice and did this. When I first called Russell he answered and was able to meet with me 5 minutes later. My roommates and I came to his office, sat down, and told him what we were looking for. He really listened to us and told us what he thought he could do for us. Our price range was a little low for what we wanted but he kept telling me he would do the best he could do get us the best deal. We ended up finding a house that was about $300 over our budget but Russell was able to work out a deal and get it down to a price that worked for all of us. He really knows the area well and isn't pushy at all. He worked very hard for us and I never felt like I was being bullshitted like I have been in the past. All of us and our parents ar... Read more

my realtor Will McEntire was extremely helpful. he made the entire process really easy, and when The Block (i dont suggest living there) tried to scam me out of a gift card they promised me, Will went into their offices with me and got them to pay up. He came through for me even when he didn't really have to, and i'm really appreciative of that. i can't speak for the other realtors at uptown, but Will is a great guy and I would refer him to anyone.

Uptown Realty and Active Property Management have been great to my household and I. We have been in our house for almost 6 months, and couldn't be happier! The crew at Uptown Realty and Active Property Mgmt. are always kind and are always very responsive if we need anything at all. The maintenance crew is always on time, and so helpful. Thank you Active and Uptown! Maggie

Using Uptown Realty was a really pleasant experience. My Realtor, Will McEntire was extremely helpful. He made the entire process extremely casual and comfortable. While searching for an apartment, it can often get a bit overwhelming, but uptown realty, and my Realtor made it very easy and comfortable. They worked with me very patiently and even after I changed my mind on what I was looking for, continued to show us around different locations. I didn't feel like I was inconveniencing them at any point, which made it just even that more of a pleasant experience.Overall the experience was extremely comfortable, pleasant, and enjoyable. I got a great place, and would absolutely recommend Uptown Realty.

FYI: these guys are the ultimate con artists!! These reviews are bogus b/c their property management division operates under a different name!! Google: "Active Property Management reviews" for true, non-self written, reviews of the company....it's ludicrous!! You wonder why they do that?? Because they don't want the truth coming out. I've had nothing but terrible dealings with these people...they've lost my rent check multiple times--then tried to make me pay late fees!! Are you kidding?? Maintenance is a nightmare...we had a broken fridge for a full week before anyone came to fix it. Nor would they pay for any of the ruined food!! The staff is unprofessional and rude, and as an earlier reviewer said when you walk into their office it's like walking into a bad Abercrombie and Fitch commercial. We have their scumbag agents turning up at all hours of the day and night to show our place...nor on average do they call to tell us they are coming by. They are the sleaze of the f*... Read more

So my friends and I were looking for a 3 bedroom apartment or house in West Campus. We went to 3 different real estate companies and were told everywhere that our budget was too low and there was no way we would ever find anything until we made our way into Uptown Realty. We went into the office at about 7:30 pm on a Thursday because the light was on inside and Russell was the only one in the office. He met us, had us sit down and ACTUALLY LISTENED to what we wanted/needed. He immediately began searching places and showing us pictures. We set up a time to come back the next day to look at a few of the places we liked. We ended up looking at 5 different places and found the perfect duplex right in west campus that worked for all of our budget. He didn't have the guys number so he had to go earlier in the day and knock on the door to set up an appointment for us to look at it. I don't think most people would have taken the time to do this for us. I really feel he went above a... Read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Uptown Realty. My realtor was Russell Cavin and he did an amazing job. He showed me several houses and worked with me and my roommates to help us find exactly what we were looking for. He was always patient with us and extremely knowledgeable when we had questions. He also responded to emails and phone calls quickly. I have tried a couple other realty places in west campus and none of them compared to uptown realty. Also Russell was by far the best realtor that I worked with. He was always honest and didn't put any pressure on me to make a decision. Seriously, If you are looking for a new place to live, go to Uptown Realty.

Uptown Realty has a lot of well-maintained properties from which to chose, and they are more than willing to show you the insides of the properties that you are interested in. I started looking for an apartment in a certain area of Austin, Hyde Park, and a realtor was able to show me three different properties to chose from when I called in interested. The employees are very reliable and responsive, and they are flexible with their hours and showing times. However, do make sure to read over the leases carefully and responsibly before signing, especially in areas concerning when first payments are due. I recommend using Uptown Realty if you are looking for an easy way to find a good apartment in Austin.

My friends and I worked with Ryan Gamble when we were looking for our place and she was the most patient and friendly person we could have worked with. We had very specific requirements regarding what we were looking for and Ryan worked with us diligently until we found exactly what we wanted. I think I speak for the four of us when I say she was the best realtor we could have had. I will gladly recommend her to all of my friends.

I luckily escapped the clutches of Uptown Realty. When I walked into the office I felt uncomfortable from the get go. It felt like I was walking into a used car dealership. And Joe Yager (the owner) wouldn't stop hitting on me. How unprofessional is that! The reviews are right he is a tool and looks like it too! Receeding hairline (looks like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons), he totally manscapes... looked like he had just gotten his eyebrows waxed they were still red! I am so grateful that I got out of there... especially now having read the reviews.

I decided that I would go ahead and write something positive about a company, because most people only write something when they are upset. I recently worked with a realtor at Uptown, Scott Beckwith, and am highly satisfied with my experience. From our first conversation, Scott listened to what I was looking for, and genuinely cared about helping me find what was right for me and my roommates. He found a few places to show us that were in our price range and location, and was professional and fun to be around the whole time. He answered every question that we had, and didn't "pressure" us to sign a lease. All he cared about was making sure we found a place we would be happy living in for the next school year. He helped out with all the paperwork, and make the whole transaction very easy for our group. Scott went out of his way to work around our schedule, and I will be sure to recommend him to my friends.

My experience with Uptown Realty has been great. Russell, our realtor has always been very helpful and knowledgeable, and he helps us stay on top of things so that we get everything done asap. He is always available to us when we or our parents have questions, and he has always shown us great properties. I highly recommend him and the rest of the Uptown realtors.

I leased a house last year through Russell from Uptown Realty. I currently live here with my best friend in a 2 bedroom back house off Duval. I am not sure about the negative review saying the application fees are over $100, we paid $80 for application and guarantor which is pretty standard as far as I have seen in my 3 years here. I think I paid $70 last year, from Premier Realty, so not a big difference. Our agent Russell spent a few days with us looking for houses that would work in our price range. He actually ended up leasing us a place that was $50 less than what we were looking to spend and he worked out a deal to get us an extra parking space which is nice. I can't speak for all of Uptown Realty, but he really helped us out a lot and I will always use a Realtor from now on. We lived in a Premier house last year and had a good experience but we did have problems with our realtor not answering our phone calls after we put in applications and deposits on the house. We nev... Read more

This company by far the worst out of the worst in west campus. They charge the highest application fee over $100 even though it only costs probably $10 to run an application! The only good review is from the owner using his real name joe yager in the review. My biggest concern is the pressure they put on you to lease properties. My friends and I were going to put applications for a house and then the agent talks to the broker and immediately afterwords tells us they were having several other groups wanting to apply also so we "HAVE TO" fill out our applications now. We are not idiots and left only never to deal with them again. Also I have heard the management company has done a terrible job and they use a different name Active Property Management and wont return your security deposit once your lease is up!

I disagree with the bad reviews of Uptown on here. I wrote this same review on Yahoo because I believe it is unfair to judge an entire company when I have had such a good experience with the few people I have interacted with... I leased a property through Uptown Realty last year and needed to find the phone number but my roommate misplaced our lease. I came across this review site and decided to check it out...All I see are negative reviews and I understand that people only write things when they are upset or had bad experience. However, I had a great experience with a Realtor named Russell Cavin. I have recommended him to many of my friends and they have had equally good experiences. He is a student or recently graduated (not sure which one) but he is very professional and really listens to what his clients want and need in their budget. We did however have some problems with their management company, Active Property Management at the beginning of last year. There were things that w... Read more

Simple as can be, these guy were the most unprofessional agents I've ever worked with. Joe Yager is the biggest liar I've ever met. My roommate and I were looking for an apartment in West Campus and given that these guys have the most signs around, I thought I'd give them a chance. So my roommate and I first tried to use the website to search for some potential properties but literally, 9 out of 14 places we saw were AVAILABLE on their website, but LEASED when we called. Hmmmm, all the bedrooms under $600 were somehow leased when we called? Second, when we set up an appointment to go view a few of the listings they had, it was clear the agent had absolutely no clue what he was talking about. He basically took us to 2 of the 4 places because some how he was unable to get access to the key (which is hard to believe given that they have in-house key's for their properties). To make it even worse, every we were driving to another property, we would somehow end up at an apartment com... Read more

Uptown Realty lost the first apartment we wanted. The second apartment we applied for there were problems with the management company which Uptown completely blamed the management company. We finally found a really great house and everything seemed to be going great. We put applications, got approved, and went to go sign the sign lease. As the realtor was reading the lease, we noticed that a lot of the things that were on the application weere changed on the lease. For instances, on the app it said the landlord would take care of the yard, replace the carpet (a bunch a party guys lived there), and replace the broken blinds (again the guys who lived there. All of sudden, we had to maintain our own yard, our carpet would be steamed clean despite the fact that we were told several times that it would be replaced, and we were responsible for fixing the blinds. We refused to sign, and immediately got attitude from the realtor. Then he told us to go ahead and sign the lease except for the pa... Read more
