Petsmart's service is terrible. I had on occasion visited the location in Tucson, Arizona, at Grant/Swan Rds. I was falsely accused of shoplifting. The purported "stolen merchandise" was the white appointment card I was holding when I walked out of the store. I had scheduled an appointment, which I most certainly did not show up for, and was accused of a crime. The manager, who made this scene embarrassing by shouting at me at the top of her lungs, did not apologize.Petland is much better. I was greeted by friendly staff who asked me if I needed help.Petco is also fantastic, and they were exceptional with my situation. ANYTHING IN TUCSON BUT PETSMART !!!!

I always take my dog, Willie, a 2 year old rat terrier, to Petsmart with me when I go to shop for pet food and supplies. We both love it! At least half of the staff there know Willie by name and will come up and play with him. And Willie always knows he has a treat waiting for him when we get to the check-out lanes. The company must treat their employees right, because they all seem to have been there for a long time. And, I have to say, I feel like a part of that family when Willie and I go in. It all started for me when I enrolled Willie as a puppy for pet training. He was so full of energy as a puppy that I felt I needed some help controlling him. The things I learned! The trainers at the 72nd Street store are so friendly and knowledgeable! You can tell that they really love their work. And we both had so much fun, I signed us up for the intermediate classes, too. I would recommend these classes to anyone who wants a better relationship with their dogs. It's more than just discipline. I learned that Willie wanted nothing more than to please me. It was just my inability to communicate with him that was making our early relationship so frustrating at times. Andrea, our trainer, showed me how to tell Willie what I wanted from him. And it was all so simple, really. It was money well spent!

i recently had to exchange some items at petsmart and was refused because i did not have a reciept and was told their policy had changed. i just contacted the customer service dept of the company and found out i was lied to and they should not have refused me. normally petsmart was my choice of pet stores but i think petco is going to be worth giving a try.

Petsmart is a great store, the employees that work at the one near me are very helpful and know a lot about pets and pet care.

I love PetsMart!!!!!!!!! I especially like to go there when many rescue groups are having adoption days. Can't resist saying hi to the dogs and cats! It's just a great place to be.

(I can only speak for the one I frequently go to, which has almost always been great). The selection is excellent, and the staff is usually helpful (I mean, some don't have any clue what I'm asking for, but at least they'll admit it). The fish department is usually well-kept and I've never seen any sings of illness in the fish, and rarely any dead fish. Sadly, they also don't seem to know much about hermit crab care (most places don't), and I've seen the crabs in pretty poor conditions (most people don't notice nor care, though). I do appreciate how they offer a cat adoption center and an on-site vet (limited hours, but still there) and grooming facility, along with training classes for dogs. Not my first choice in pet stores, but it's not too bad, either.
