    My first job?  Sweeping the floor in a machine shop on the way home from junior high school.  Dirty, but I got to learn a lot of impressive forms of profanity from the machinists.My kids first jobs?  Aside from stints delivering the local paper, two out of three have worked.  My daughter's first job was reading to an elderly dying man in a hospice.  She was hired by the family to spend three hours every weekday reading the newspaper and some of his favorite books to him.  She gained a fine insight into aging and death and honed her compassion.My oldest son dropped out of high-school in grade 12, too smart, too bored, too cool.  Dad gave him the "if you're not in school, you're paying rent speech" and lo and behold the heretofore lazy little toad immediately got a job in construction, used his father's contacts to get into an ironworkers apprenticeship program, and is well on his way to journeyman.  He's on a voyage of discovery about himself, and is starting to make plans instead of dr...
