I attended this school. Thought it was going to be a great learning experience. I did not agree with everything that was going on, but was there for an education. Shame on me...Melissa claims to be such a great christian..yet that same week that was our last week her and her husband lied to us all. Told us that is was one of the best and were going to make sure we all received the education we needed to make it in this industry...Surprise...very next week Bankruptcy. She did not even have enough respect for us as her students to contact us..She had a instructor contact us. On top of that there were new students that paid 100% up front for just a few weeks of classes. Those who paid all up front lost all there money....Shame on both of them..for deceiving all of us...It was not about the students but the money..

Students are not learning from syllabus provided. Instuctors are not educated on the material and have even had to be taught by students on procedures. The new students depend on the older students to show them procedures. The owner makes for a very unstable environment claiming to "see demons" and having the power to drive them away which has (obviously) frightend many of the students. But unfortunately, most students are convinced to pay tuition upfront (because of the price break) which has kept many students from leaving. I have never posted any negative reviews towards a business in my life, I just want prospective students to be warned and don't want anyone else to have to learn from experience.

I strongly advise you to research who you will be giving your money to as well as the curriculum outlined to be followed. I know Birmingham is somewhat limited, but your career is a long term investment and the last thing you want to do is settle and end up with your hard earned money and education in the wrong hands. Skinactics has had some positives to it, but unfortunately, that is of the past. The present day Skinactics School is not a good environment to learn in and does not follow through with the curriculum they initially state they will educate you on.‎

I am a former student and graduate of Skinactics. My experience with Melissa Cundiff and her school was very positive and enjoyable. I also learned a great deal from her program and with hands-on experience with the clientele that came to the school for the services that the students provide. As I am a researcher, with what information was available on the internet at that time, and trying to talk to as many people I could in the field, I was prepared to visit her school. The first time I met Melissa, I was impressed with her warmth, the information she shared about the program, and the personal walk-through, that it wasn't long before I decided to join. After spending almost two years gaining knowledge through hands-on and classroom work, I was ready to go out into the workforce, with virtually no supervision. I landed a job as a sole aesthetician in a plastic surgeon's office before I even finished the program. It has been a wonderful journey, and invaluble experience to my career. I... Read more

I just recently finished my esthetician training at Skinactics in Daphne, Alabama. I knew from the first day I dropped by to check out the school, talked to Melissa Cundiff, and took a tour of the school, this is what I wanted to do. I called my sister-in-law and we both signed-up to begin classes that same week. I went to school with some of the best women in the area, and have made a lot of good friends. I learned so much while I was there. The "hands-on" training was especially fun, but more important, it gave me the confidence I needed. We are are grateful that Melissa opened this school. She made it possible for us to get the training we needed to begin careers as estheticians. Regretfully, Melissa had to close the Daphne school. I have not yet visited Skinactics in Birmingham, but have plans to do so in the near future. I hear that the school is fantastic. If you are interested in skin care or knowing more about the career possibilities available to estheticians, you... Read more

If you want to get an education in esthetics, make-up artistry, or both...this is the best place! I am a graduate of the school and can't even begin to tell you how it's changed my life. I have gone from working in a medical spa, to working in a top rated resort doing facials, to now working as a district manager for the largest cosmetic producer in the world in just 4 short years. It took me over 15 years in my previous career to earn only half of what I am making now. Besides the education and earning potential benefits, the school and it's instructors are fabulous! You get extrememly personal attention and the school is so beautifully equipped with the latest tools and technology in esthetics today. Melissa Cundiff is the owner and teaches at the school. She has really revolutionized the esthetics industry in Birmingham and has paved the way for many successful estheticians. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for Melissa and Skinactics. I urge anyone out there if you ... Read more

I saw the ad at the Rave theater and went to Skinactics for a service. I was so pleased at the professionalism of the students and staff. My facial was the best facial I have ever received! I was shocked that I was in a school. The prices are great and I will definitely be returning for other services at the school. The ad was right. This is Birmingham's Best Kept Secret. Tammy
