Harriet the Spy was one of my favorite books as a child. Harriet is an 11 year old girl who loves to keep a journal and write down everything she sees. Some of the stuff she writes is not very nice. One day her journal comes up missing and she finds to her horror that her whole class has read the journal. Now they are all mad at her.and Harriet has to find a way to make things right. She also goes around town and makes observations of what she sees. Can be a funny book.and even a lesson of Be careful of what you say A good read.

This was a pretty good book, I don't know if it's worth a number 1 rating. I think a lot of kids can relate to the sixth-grade Harriet when all the kids don't like her because of the nasty things she wrote in her notebook about them.

"Harriet the Spy" was one of my favorite books growing up, and out of curiosity I recently re-read it. I was pleased to note that it had not lost any of its luster. The story is about a quirky 11-year-old girl who lives in Manhattan and spends most of her time spying on her neighbors and recording her thoughts in a notebook. She doesn't exactly fit in at school, and things become even more difficult after her classmates get ahold of her notebook and read what she's written about them. The story delves into lots of interesting issues that are still relevant today (the book was published in 1964), and it never feels preachy or heavy-handed. I was surprised to learn that Louise Fitzhugh (the author) also illustrated the book. I remembered every single illustration vividly, and I liked the way she captured a person's look or mood using simple black and white drawings. I highly recommend this book, especially for girls (ages 9-12).

Harriet the spy is a good book it is about an 11 year old girl named Harriet who writes stuff in a journal about everything she sees some of the stuff is nice about people but some is mean about people. One day she looses the journal and she finds out the whole class had read it and now they are mad at Harriet. Then she finds out a way to make everything seem right again. This is a good book to read.
