Bruns Motors Used Cars 3

I bought a Dodge Dokata 1996 with 89k miles. I took the vechile on 2 test drives to see how it handeled and it seemed ok for the year of vechile. The air didnt work and the abs brake light was on. During our sale I pointed this out to the salesman who said those issue would be fixed during inspection before I got delivery. Now knowing that this dealer purchases from auction and having some common sence that the vechile is old I figured I would still need to put some more money into it. The sales people we friendly, helped me with transporation to and from my house when needed and always answered the phone when i called and gave me reasons and expected date of inspection and delivery. I used the truck for about 3 months on some odd hauling jobs. after making some money I decided to take it in to NTB because it was pulling to the right and had bad vibrations in steering wheel. Come to find out all 4 tires were worn uneven due to bad sway arm and other problems in the steering and suspension it cost me another $2005.74 to have the following fixed: 4 new tires, alignment, front & rear shocks, upper control arms, sway bar links, 3rd brake light was out,
center exhust hanger, 3-step fuel system cleaner, Then after that work I took it to the dodge dealer because I had no heat another $1284.00 for new heater core, new thermos stat, Now as I said knowing the year and that it was an auction resell I knew that used car dealers dont get into all the whats wrong with it crap because there looking to buy and sell while making a few dollars. As a buyer going to any used car dealer you already know your buying something that some one had problems with if you dont buy a new car ! I'm a bit upset that at least these things could be pointed out so I new what extra money would be needed so my great deal $2995.00 + tag & title =$3469.70 for the truck has now cost me $6759.44 --accourding to Kelly blue book its value is $5575.00 so i lose $1184.44 and thats if its in execellent condition which it's not! so its even more. Question is could I have avoided problems spending more on a newer truck-Well research showed newer trucks but with 125k + in mileage. All this said I dont think I will buy from them or any other used car dealer again! I have never like used vechiles for this reason. One would think a returning customer is a better way to go. I think Bruns needs to be more honest about what there selling. When they buy at auction they know what there buying and I would be suprised if they paid more then $500 for this truck. not sure if this happens at auctions but get a list of whats wrong with the vechile and whats needed for repairs and this should be disclosed during the sale! Honest people knowing what there buying can make a better decision. To me this is the old snake salesman crap and why this is my last used vechile from now on only new! Just sick and tired of the constant bullshit with used vechiles and sales people. I don't think I could have still bought a truck for under $7000.00 with 80k and the motor is still strong so hopefully it will last me. But I will never get anything back out of it for resale since it's so old. I gave an OK rating but I think I should have invested in a newer model. live and learn I wont return.

as a represenetive of Bruns Motors, i'd like to respond to some of the reviews on this page.

1.we've been in buisness for 20 years now
2.we did not by any means get our dealer license online
people who arent in this buisness have no idea whats invovled in the process of aquiring a license
3.we're its true we offer cheaply priced cars in the bel air md area deals you wont find anywhere else but with that said we buy alot of our cars from the auction up the the street (bel air auto auction) and dont go over every single nut and bolt on thease cars but we try to point out every flaw in our listings of thease vehicles i dont mean to discourage anyone but when you buy a 3,000.00 or less vehicle you can't expect a brand new car

4. due to economic times we are in fact operating out of a truck at the moment due to a fire we had back in febuary, buisness has been extremely slow and we arent always making money on our cars more often then not were taking losses to move inventory..

5. i believe the car in question was a 1998 windsor blue volkswagen jetta glx we had here for sale for $3850 which when we bought the car we werent aware of the missing heater core or the fact it needed a synchro for 5th gear and that the windows dont work but if you know anything about volkswagens the car had 98,000 miles and the glx has the VR6 engine which is very popular in the MK3 jettas and GTIs and apart from its issuses it was still a very clean car for its age a perfect none flawed jetta of the same nature or GTI with a VR6 will go for well over 4,000.00 usually 5-6,000.00

6. for the those of you who have had a good buying expirence with us we appricate your buisness

7. we are by no means a sleasy dealership as somone said we are a small family buisness and were very busy during the coruse of the week as theres generally just 4-5 of us carrying out many things at once so somtimes paperwork may get misplaced we apologize for any inconviences anyones had as we do our very best to get everything done in a timley professional manner

8. we do appreicate positive feedback on our ebay account, if you have a bad expirence i do apologize as thats not our intentions

i hope that clears a few things up about our dealership
sincerly,
Alex

I bought a Subaru Wagon from Bruns on Ebay. They were great, picked me up at the airport, and I made it home fine. Would buy again

I don't know what the others are talking about. Yes they are a small family dealership with cheap cars, but I got good service and a cheap car that I couldn't find anywhere else. Title work was done by the time the temporary tag expired.

just a horrific car dealership I couldn't trash talk enough to make myself feel better. I won't disclose what car I was looking at for reasons of anonymity but it was a beautiful little car with a really powerful engine, I was absolutely enamored with this car the instant it came on auction, the description and pictures amplified my feelings for the car and I couldn't wait for it to be mine.

When we got there, there were bearing(s) loose in the engine, a bad transmission, no heating unit (seriously, it was just gone and the only thing left were hoses), buttons didn't work, windows didn't open, the trunk was temperamental and the exhaust had a burning smell to it. If I had known about these It would have been no issue, it would have been a more negotiable price but these are things I could do myself or take to my friend's garage. When you list something as "great solid engine" it better have a great solid engine, otherwise thats called "false advertisement". When I pointed out these flaws and told him about it he was very understanding and I evened with him so he could keep his prestigiously high ebay score.

However friendly the man, the dealership still looked like something out of a Rob Zombie movie, the cars were questionable, and the entire place is run out of an emergency response headquarters vehicle parked under what looks like an old gas station overhang. The place looked like the cars, questionable, a tad sleazy, just....clice, it was that sleazy dealership you've seen in every hollywood movie.

The Salesmen like to play the "I don't know" game a lot and say things like "yeah we just got that in a while ago, no ones really done too much with it" etc. I hate to give a lesson to a salesman but when you buy a car, you want to be comfortable in the decision you're making, excited for the drive and the prospect of having a new car, and sound in the condition it's been sold in.

My recommendation to anyone thinking of purchasing from this dealer, it's always worth it to look, bring a flashlight and a friend who really knows his stuff about cars. I'm certain that some of the cars on the lot were in peak condition and some did look very well maintained. JUST BE WARY BEFORE YOU BUY, YOU CAN AND WILL GET SCAMMED.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!!!!! I think they bought their dealer's license online. A car does you no good without a title!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They don't return phone calls - they have their money and they disappear!
Almost two months later and we still don't have a good title or and response or help from them!!

Stay away from this company. They charged me for title and tags and have yet to deliver either. The temp tags are now expired and they get an attitude when I call them on the phone. Wish I had seen these reviews before buying from them...

I'm now in the process of filing a claim in small claims court...
