SPOON!!! I made fun of their name when I heard about them, but when i heard their SONGS I stopped

here's the deal. indie rock bands are not meant to be on the top of the charts. the reason most groups opt for the independent labels is because their music is not marketable. it's a shame folks, but that's how it is. that said, spoon are the amongst the cream of the crop as far as independent groups go, and their music is far more vital than many mainstream artists. while indie artists' music is not marketable and generally eschews modern pop sensibility, it is important to notice their sound. their sound is far different from many modern rock groups: mainstream artists are mainstream for the simple reason that they ape on other modern rock groups sounds and thus makes them unrecognizable from the other groups. indie groups try to explore different territory and for this the listener will find the music much more rewarding and challenging.
