I go every week for the music. Its the best I've ever heard, and I tell everyone about it. Worth the trip from Westboro every Sunday afternoon.

Like some people, I find writing a review of a church kind of awkward. But, I've got to make a plug for this place... I came to St. Anthony's last year for Ash Wednesday. I work in the area, and just wanted to get mass over with and get my ashes and move on. I was stunned by the atmosphere, by the music, by the sermons, by the whole place. Right there in the middle of the financial district is this shrine with all kinds of beautiful stained glass and statues. But the real find was the music. I went to school in the south and have always had a soft-spot for gospel music. THis music wasn't gospel, but it was close. I started showing up for the weekend masses - a little out of the way (I live in Brookline) but not far off the T. Found out that every weekend, for 8 masses, they have incredible music. Sometimes the music is better than other times, but there's always something that keeps me coming back. I really enjoy the woman in charge, who plays the piano and sings. She remi... Read more

Great music and mass today at St. Anthony's in downtown Boston. Like some of the other reviewers, we had heard from a friend that the music at Arch Street was completly new and exciting, so we had to go in and see. We were stunned to see so many people singing and really getting into mass - a Catholic mass! Great "vibe" for lack of a better term. We will definitely be back soon.

St. Anthony Shrine is the best in Boston. We attend the 4:00 Saturday Mass and love the Music and the whole experience. My 14-year old granddaughter who is a pretty tough critic, sings her heart out during Mass. We tell our neighbors and friends that they should give the Shrine a try on the weeknd. It is a great place to be. God bless!

Beautiful shrine, great central location, convenient mass times and confession hours. Open and welcoming to LG community. Interesting/thorough course offerings from Franciscan School and services from in Spiritual Direction. Health clinic, called the Wellness Center, has great clinics and is open to all.

Although we live in Quincy, my wife and I have been attending Sunday mass at the Shrine regularly since Easter. We both grew up in Boston and knew Arch Street as a place to catch feast day masses or to light a candle. The Fransican Friars are patient, kind, welcoming people who always seem to have time to talk. We happened upon a weekend mass in the spring and were instantly hooked by the amazing spirit that comes through in the liturgy, particularly in the music. I've never been one to sing in church, but something about this music gets me going. Do yourself a favor and get to one of the weekend masses, especially when the woman is there on the piano.
