My husband gave me a day at the spa for Christmas - wonderful gift for this working mom : ) Since, I have had my first waxing and now this evening, my second massage! Courtney did a wonderful job! I am still new to massages and it still takes me outside my comfort zone, but she put me completely at ease AND did a magnificent job! I told her firm and she delivered! THANK YOU Courtney and Midtown for helping this mom rElax!!!!!! See you soon! xoxo

I went for a facial and it was a poor experience! The aesthetician was not friendly, not gentle with my skin and did not ask me anything about my skin or what I was looking for before she began. The thing that irritated me the most was that she left the room SEVERAL times for up to 10 minutes. Extremely Unprofessional! Once she had the steam on my face and after several minutes I my face was hot and sweating and i asked her to turn it down, only to realize that she wasn't in the room. Any other time I've had a facial, if they are letting a mask sit on your face or letting the steam work, they atleast rub your shoulders or something during that time. The fact that she left the room repeatedly to do who knows what, was poor service. And when I went to pay, the price was higher than what was quoted on their website. When I asked the girl at the front desk about this, she said that price was probably for Men. What?!? DO NOT GO HERE FOR A FACIAL! I WILL NEVER GO BACK FOR ANY KIND... Read more

Received my first massage here, and I must admit that I was not impressed. I didnt feel any different when i left nor did i feel anything spectacular while i received the massage. I received a spa package certificate and let me just say after receiving the services i.e. mediocre mani/pedi, a facial and massage, I would not have personally paid for any of these services at this establishment. I arrived 30-40 mins early and still wasnt serviced until 15 mins after my appt. I felt like everything was disorganized and the services were not impressive. I will say the customer service was excellent but that does not make up for the actual quality of the services received. I wouldnt recommend this place!

OMG! Is it really possible to have found the "perfect" therapist? I dont know, but i think i'm pretty close to that. First, I normally dont write reviews on places i've gone, although I read up on them to help me decide on where to go...but I dont regret this at all. I came here to get a massage and my therapist was awesome! It's tough to find a place around this area and pay good money to get a great service, but man, oh man...will you ever get your monies worth here at midtown retreat...at least with the massage...and with Eddie! He was my therapist and he was fantastic...ladies, this is the man you want...TRUST ME!!!!!!!! i have gotten massages for years; especially, in this area and the prices are astronomical and the workman mediocre at best, but he is phenomenal. Normally, I dont say anything about the service after it's done, but there was no way that I could not I had to let him know what i thought about him. He was a little surprised to hear about so many complaints ... Read more

I was referred into midtown retreat to see Chantil, who is both a hair stylist & massage therapist. I have been in several times now to get a haircut, along with a massage, & it has been a wonderful experience everytime. She is GREAT!!! The whole staff is nice as well and always very welcoming. I look forward to my visits in there.

Kim my "new found" hair stylist, rocks!! I have been searching for a hair stylist that is meticulous to details and has an eye for style. I am very difficult to please when it comes to my hair. She's the best I have been to and I'm excited to come back again for my next appointment. I'm going to highly recommend her to everyone who is always looking for a better hair stylist. ***major kudos to Kim***

If there was a Oscar to be given out for the best hair stylist...Kim would win it!!! *hands down* I highly recommend Kim for her creative initiution. Her talent is also very versatile, she can work with all hair types. When I come for my routinely visit, I would be clueless as to what I want. But Kim has great ideas. You'll be walking out of the salon feeling like a "SuperStar"!

I have been looking for years for someone who could handle my hair (VERY thick) and Kim has met the challenge. I wish she could do my hair everyday because no matter how hard I try it never looks as good as when she does it. I highly recommend her and I tell all my friends about her.

I would love to RAVE about Russ and the new place he is at; Midtown Retreat Salon and Spa. I lost my hairdresser a few months back when he moved to Houston. But recently had the pleasure of being in town and booking a haircut and color with Russ (MY HAIR GUY THAT MOVED). The Salon is very nice, relaxing and modern. Russ is still the absolute best at cut and color....after a few attempts of trying people back home in Fort Worth, NO ONE STILL COMPARES TO HIM! He is very friendly and knows what he is doing when it comes to cut and color. I can't tell you how much he is missed here in Fort Worth.....MIDTOWN RETREAT AND HOUSTON, YOU FOUND A GREAT HAIR HAIRDRESSER WITH RUSS!

I can't say enough good things about Midtown retreat. I love the staff - Tai (forgive me if misspelled ;)) and Russ always make me feel like family. Russ does my hair and he's exceptional! I've also had Tai's massages and I'm speechless every time. The girls who do the pedicures are fantastic and consistently do a great job. I actually live about 30 mins from Midtown Retreat, but it's so worth the drive. I highly recommend you try them!

I went in recently for a haircut and was very impressed with the place itself and the attentive service. I will definitely be back and you can add me to Russ' fan club. Russ made sure to give a thorough consultation of what kind of cut I wanted and listened to my opinion. He cut exactly the length he said he was going to cut and I am very happy with the results. Usually, I am always wary about going to new places and haircuts in general, but I will definitely be back to Midtown Retreat.

My fiance' and I came here before our engagement party to get massages and pedicures! I am so happy that this place just opened up right down the street from our condo! How convenient and what a treat! We felt like royalty and I think the person who greeted us and gave us a tour was actually the owner... I love to see hands on business owners who really care about putting their best face forward. I was really impressed and I am sure we will come back ( especiall right before our big day - wish us luck!) I didn't have a problem with parking on the day that I came, and I cant say anything negative at all about this place. I loved it.

I have to travel downtown from Katy a few times a month for my husband and I usually have to find a way to spend a few hours. I noticed this new spa after getting a tan in the same plaza one day and I make it a destination point ever since. I read the first review up above and I have to say that I have been there several times now and I have had mani's and pedi's, a hair cut and color, and several massages, and I have never had a bad experience. I always set an appointment and I have never had to wait for more than 5 or 10 minutes for anything and on top of that, i found all of the staff to be well equiped in every station. This place has a very quaint atmosphere and I will continue to come back again and again. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that on certain days at certain times there can be limited parking but that's the only thing I can come up with on the down side... but let's be realistic... this is houston! Is there ever parking anywhere? LOL

When I went back to receive my complimentary cut everything was great. Russ did a perfect job on my cut. It was one of the few times I have ever left a salon and didn't go home to style it myself. Overall service was excellent and I will be going back for followup cuts and other services. I highly recommend Midtown Retreat for all services.

In Short Devotees of feng shui and the Japanese aesthetic will feel immediately at ease in this Asian-themed spa in the heart of Midtown. With a focus on harmony and tranquility, the spa offers full-service hair cut, color (including professional color correction), blowouts and bridal updos. Behind the cherry blossom screens, trained estheticians do face and body waxing in addition to a variety of facials, manicures and pedicures. For the ultimate indulgence, choose from a 30-minute mini massage, Swedish, deep tissue, couples, table Thai or traditional Japanese hot stone massage.
