You feel the instant 'family' vibe at the San Antonio Winery. It's close to the Brewery in Lincoln Heights, just minutes from downtown central. You have to check it out!

My girlfriend and I visited San Antonio Winery on valentine's day, 2009, for the first time. I am not a wine expert but find the idea extremely interesting. We got to take a tour of the whole place and found it exciting and educational. As for wine tasting, since I like the dry reds I really liked one in particular, the San Simeon Petite Sirah 2004, which had a smokey taste to it. This was my first smokey wine I had ever tasted so I bought two bottles :) I also liked and bought the San Simeon Syrah 2004. If you are in and around Los Angeles and get excited over the whole wine thing, then I highly recommend this place.

We recently gathered here for a family event. It wasn't a specially organized event or anything...just us getting together for brunch on the weekend. I have to say I was sorely disappointed and left our meal a little confused. The quality of food was generally average. The service was slow and confused me. Is this a restaurant or a cafeteria? It reminded me of a terrible version of Las Vegas buffets. You pay...get your food...and slide your tray down the line. Servers behind the line give you what you order...except for the entree which is delivered to your table. Just a weird experience all around. I don't think we'll be visiting this place again. However, I can see how it would be a great place for lunch if you worked downtown.

I can't believe how horrible the food was. I felt like I was in a high school cafeteria. The old ladies serving the food even had hair nets! Don't eat here! My lunch was $16.50. I could of eaten at Olive Garden and ordered the Tour of Italy for the same price! They also charged for drink refils. The food tastes like a frozen dinner. Wear your bullet proof vests in this neighborhood.

Our family had a very important event at the San Antonio Winery recently. I was a bit nervous as I was in charge of making sure my parents anniversary gathering was a success. Wow!! The service was impeccable, the food authentic Italian in style and the flavors in their sauces were amazing. Apparently the chef takes much pride in his dishes and we felt as if we were the only event they had to worry about this year. The award winning wines were paired with the food they served and we loved every second of this experience and so did my parents. Everything was served timely and they even helped us set up a screen for a presentation. This family owned winery gives tours, has a gift shop and you can taste wine from all over the world, not only the wines that they produce. Why would anyone ever need to go to Napa? Anyway, we would highly recommend this winery and restaurant to anyone who is looking for an experience. I certainly will be back and am thinking about the next event I wa... Read more

I absolutely love this place. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. I've taken the tour and was very impressed with the history and the tradition of the winery. The gift shop offers a wide variety of wines to choose from. I enjoy taking some time to taste the different wines. Each time I visit I always try something new. If you enjoy wine tasting in Napa Valley you will love the convenience of being able to sample wines so close to home. I highly recommend San Antonio Winery to anyone who loves great food, wine and service!

San Antonio Winery = Amazing FOOD, WINE, and AMBIANCE. A friend told me about the winery a few months ago, and I?ve have been going regularly since. :) The first time I visited the winery I was overwhelmed by the verity of things one can do. Beside being a full functioning winery ( FREE TOURS!), the winery also had a free tasting room, and a great restaurant. The restaurant was by far the most memorable part of my winery experience. The food was delicious! The Shrimp Scampi is a MUST! The great thing about the restaurant was the professional and prompt service, I didn?t even need to make a reservation ahead of time; which we all know is almost unheard of in LA! Thank YOU SAN ANTONIO WINERY YOU GUYS ROCK! PS: Just had to say thanks for an amazing VALENTINES DINNER!!! My wife and I had a joyous and delightful experience! - Jason Giovanni

We celebrated my sister's 40th birthday here on 12/30/06. Never again will my family have a party here. In Nov 06 my family was contacted to say the time had to be changed and our food options were no longer available because USC was coming in and taking over the entire winery. Our invitations had already been printed. We had to hand write in the change in time on the invites. When my mother arrived at the party. The manager told her first thing we had to be out on time. Not even a welcome or sorry for the inconvenience they caused. Our wine, cheese and ice tea was set up when we got there. Here is where things went wrong. We were told to stand in line to get our food (which we were not given a choice). As my family made their way. I was given a sign indicating what choice of food I made and was told someone would serve me. I was confused because the rest of my family was being served right then and there. I did not argue and went back to my seat. The waiter saw my sign and said he wou... Read more

Even I had no idea that Los Angeles had a winery. So when I was invited here for a Sunday brunch, I was so excited. The atmosphere is open but cozy. The food was delicious. They have many menu selections on display. This way you know exactly what kind of portions you'll get and just how good it looks, before you order. For some, this could be a spoiler. Because there is nothing like the element of surprise. Excellent wine. Live jazz as well. A great place!

I've been here once and would go again. I went as a part of a group, and they were very accomidating. The service was exceptional and so was the food. They have a menu on their website so check it out. Another neat thing about the San Antonio Winery is that they have winery tours so you can go check it out after you're done eating. This place would be great to go to with a group or as a couple.

I (literally) accidently found this restaurant/winery while picking up a package at a neighboring UPS facility. Having just come from Santa Barbara wine country, I wasn't expecting much. But I was floored at the wine, service and ambience. This place is in the middle of warehouse row just north of downtown L.A., but the buidling and interior transports you to the finest of wine country. I love the Syrah and Petite Syrah (under the San Simeon) label and the food and service (esp the service) was exceptional. I ate alone at lunch but will definitely be back for dinner with a date or a group of friends!

I absolutely love San Antonio Winery!! Due to its history, this family-owned establishment is far from your ordinary dining experience. Not only do you get an overall great dining experience, you can take a tour and actually see the amazing history of this oasis in Los Angeles. Great wine, great atmosphere, great food, great service and even has a gift shop!! I definately recommend San Antonio Winery to anyone who wants an overall great dining experience with a touch of history.

In Short A hundred years ago, the L.A. River was lined with wineries--only one remains today. A vaulted hall, stacked with wine barrels, is filled with downtown businessfolk and loft-dwelling artists eating cafeteria-style lunches. California-inspired dishes are tasty and pair with the house wines, available by the bottle or the glass. Penne pasta with salmon is paired with vodka sauce, while spinach-ricotta ravioli is flavored with a medley of herbs.

Had a chance to visit for the first time a couple of months ago for dinner. Don't expect anything fancy, as the food is served cafeteria-style where you choose and take it to your table. Still, they manage to have a cozy and romantic atmosphere at night. Prices are way reasonable and the food's not bad. Waiters and managers were all polite and helpful. Looking forward to lunch someday.
