The Beatles were a British pop/rock band formed in the 1960s and considered the most critically and commercially successful of all time. Such is the repercussion of the so-called 'Beatlemania' that his lyrics, which represented the progressive ideals of the time, still endure today and I think they are unforgettable urrieta Alberto

They made rock n' roll little less threatening than elvis did at the time. Essential, the smooth out some of the rough edges, image and sound wise. However, by the mid to late sixies they started experimenting with LSD and then faded their clean cut image.

Where were you during the last week of December in 1963? I was glued to the radio, listening for one of the New York City DJ's to play "I Want To Hold Your Hand" or "I Saw Her Standing There" by a group whose sound I'd never heard the like of before. Little did I know that The Beatles had been scream and faint-worthy heroes for many months in the UK, and before that honing their craft in Liverpool and Hamburg. For me Beatlemania started somewhere between my school's winter break in late 1963 and The Ed Sullivan Show broadcast Feb 9, 1964 and it never ended. This charismatic group of brilliant singers/songerwriters/musicians transformed pop/rock music with each new single and album release. The number of classic songs they produced is mind boggling and most of their music is as fresh today as it was when they first recorded it. I will be a fan forever.

There's no denying that they were a huge influence and helped shape the culture of the 1960s fashion, music and politics. What people forget is that THEY were influenced by American music-especially that made by African Americans in the 50s.(just listen to their earliest recordings)There's a trend in music that seems to flow back and forth across the Atlantic-Music made in America (Muddy Waters,Jimi Hendrix,Jazz) is largely ignored by "White" America- but the Europeans catch on quickly and imitate it,and THEN Americans suddenly see the light.

Well, for their music they were influential in a good way, but for their habits, they influenced a generation of hippies in a bad way, e.g. The Manson Family.

A really good rock and roll band and musically innovative beyond anything you should expect from unschooled working class kids who couldn't even read music. They set the template for the modern musical creative process and left behind at least a hundred songs that stand up next to any popular music of any time. But if you are under 20 years old, I'd bet James Brown is probably more influential on the music you are listening to these days.

You would have to be in total denial, spent your life under a rock, newly born, terminally naive or simple minded not to be able to see the major influence The Beatles had on popular music. It has nothing to do with personal taste or whether you like them or their music. Whatever individuals may decide on a personal level; John, Paul, George and Ringo represented a time when cultural change was as obvious as the dawn of a new day. Those are simply the historical facts.

Greatest rock band ever IMO- most innovative, most dominant, etc. I wasn't around then, but Thank God they saved us from the mushy crap in the early 60's, (ONE OF ROCK'S WORST ERAS: though there always is something good happening, even then)- Bobby Vinton, Ray Conniff, Frankie and Anita. Without them, the music world perhaps would've been a very square thing. In terms of technical musical ability, some contemporary bands, like Cream, Traffic and the Jimi Hendrix Experience indeed had more talent, but NO band has ever had the complete package like they did.

All around legends who changed the face of music forever, and for the better. I'm fifteen and growing up with modern bands, i can still realise how brilliant this band really is.

While the history of the Beatles has been well documented, those who lived through Beatlemania remember the excitement that cannot possibly be described with just words. It was a set of circumstances the likes of which we will never see again. The world was still mourning the death of John Kennedy when less than 3 months later the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan. Two months after that the Ford Mustang was introduced. It was a great time to be young. In my opinion the reason the Beatles were able to change the world was because they did not set out to change the world on purpose. It just happened. They only wanted to make music. The Beatles have said that the reason they stopped touring was because it was no longer a musical event for them. In becoming a studio band however, they gave us more than just a collection of recordings. They were the first band to express a social conscience, something previously reserved for the Bob Dylans, Pete Seegers and folk oriented artists of the day. T... Read more

What I have to say about the Beatles has already been said over and over. Everyone knows how they revolutionized rock, pop, and psychedelic music, and all that. But I just love how they always seemed to try something new. Never afraid to see what something sounds, or what something does. They did rock music, and mellow, quiet music, and everything in between. I think that everyone should at least respect them for their talent and their creativity, whether or not you like them personally.

I will not deny that the Beatle's have millions of fans, and they may have even inspired a few dozen rock groups over the years, but they are hardly the MOST influential pop culture icon ever. They are boring, and nothing more than classic bubble gum music that happened to last a long time...
