Excellent service and food. I'm told the founder put Oahu on the map for dining when he opened Roy's. I had the macademia encrusted whitefish, which a friend thought was too rich but I really enjoyed. Try the fusion app, and the chocolate dessert which is a small cake with hot chocolate in the middle and a side of vanilla ice cream.

I went here for restaurant week and had an amazing experience. I asked the bartender to choose my items for me and she did beautifully. She was fun, attentive and a pleasure to be around. The hostesses were the same way. The food itself was unreal also. If you go, make sure to have the Hawaiian Hauipu (sic) because it is incredible.

I have had the priviledge to dine at Roy's at least 50 times (Hawaii Kai to Waikiki). I live in the neighborhood - and they've been here for 20 years! I always enjoy our servers and the food is always excellent. I do not wait for special occassions to eat at Roy's - I actually find Outback Steakhouse (which is right across from Roy's), to be more costly. You don't have to break the bank to eat there - they have appetizer portions that are very reasonably priced. A must have is there signature chocolate souffle - it's my all time favorite dessert! I also notice the many charitible events that Roy's sponsors - which always makes me want to give them my business.

In Short Roy Yamaguchi opened his first restaurant in 1988 in Honolulu, Hawaii, blending European cooking techniques with locally produced ingredients and Asian spices. Today, his Hawaiian-fusion cuisine is served in a sophisticated atmosphere with dark woods, Asian accents and contemporary, island-inspired art. In addition to "Roy's classics" like Hawaiian-style misoyaki butterfish and the popular melting hot chocolate souffle, each location offers daily specials prepared by the local chef, all of whom are trained personally by Roy.

The Maui Wowy salad and the Butterfish entree are to die for.... The restaurant is so good that when I am in another state I check if there is a Roy's there. I am always guaranteed a great meal. If you haven't tried Roy's your'e really missing out. The decor and wine selections are as good as the food. The waiters are very knowledgeable and helpful. You must try the souflet dessert, even if you're on a diet. Tell Bryson that the Gellers sent you. BTW try the edamame.

One of my favorite places, I love the unique dishes served up...the butter fish is phenomenal. Interesting drink options as well and when your server shows up and tells you about the chocolate souffle that takes so long to prepare...order it! It's sublime. I know it's a chain of sorts but I love this place.

The food is flavorful and the portions are decent. The wait staff is extremely friendly and service is excellent. The restaurant is bit too chain-like. If you want a nice quiet evening, this is not the place to dine.

When we first arrived at Roy?s on a week night, we were on time for a dinner reservation but had to wait about 15-20 minutes for our table. However, it was worth the wait. The wait staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I can?t wait to go back again!

I enjoyed every minute hear with my family. From the bar and their wonderful drinks and complementary appetizer. To the fantastic service and meals. We tried almost half the appetizers and loved all of them. Our entrees where equally wonderful. I'm not a desert person at all, but opted for the Macadamia Nut/Almond Tart, its to die for. Great atmosphere, great service, great food.

The service and the atmosphere are nice, but the food was not edible. We ordered the recommended dish, which was bland. The second dish we ordered, beef, was like leather meat. I had to send the dish back. Roys was nice enough to only charge us for drinks, but I would still not recommend Roys.

My wife and I were going to Flemings for dinner. We decided to have a drink at Roy's, to check the place out. We were so impressed with the food and especially the service, we cancelled our reservations at Flemings. Everything was sensational, look forward to my next visit.

Seems that every time I get to a Roys something is bound to happen. My first time I sat down in the bar section. My server came took my drink order, and came back on a reasonable time. My order was very simple a salad and a sushi dish. It took 45minutes for the salad and another 30 for the sushi. On my second time I think they felt rushed and my food was cold starting from the vegetables to the partially cook meat that did not make it to rare.

I have been to Roy's on a number of occassions. The one feeling I always get is that it's too busy and caotic. The wait for food can take almost an hour...so you better enjoy your company. The food is awesome and the service is friendly and prompt (beverages and water refills). The prices are high for the ambience in my opinion. I have learned to sit down stairs or out on the patio for a much more romantic experience.

I've been to Roy's before - and every time i convince myself to return i experience yet another situation. The first time i went with my family, and my father who is not at -all- a picky eater, got an extremely poor cut of meat. The second time we waited over an hour for our food. I would not recommend Roys because although the ambiance is good - for the amount they ask for, it's just not worth waiting an hour for a chewy steak.

Fine dining with the spirit of aloha. I have enjoyed many fine dining restaurants across the nation and Roy's remains my favorite. Great service, wonderful and creative food in a relaxed atmosphere that manages to be casual and elegant at the same time. Always a wonderful experience to eat at Roy's.

Highly recommended! If you're looking for something that isn't your run-of-the-mill dining experience, Roy's is definitely worth a visit. The menu skews heavily with Pacific Rim influences. Service was great, and our group was well taken care of. The food was superb- everything a dining experience should be. Much better than the swill offered up by the Inner Harbour chain restaurants. Weekends are understandably busy- we had a group of 8 and yes, we got seated immediately, but we also had a 6.00 reservation. All in all a great experience.

Far and away the best restaurant in the area. The food, service, and atmosphere are worth every penny. My wife and I tried Roy's for our anniversary, needless to say, we will be there for our next.
