I've played Dolores quite a few times, and it's great when there's enough players. A diverse group of people usually congregate there to play -- African American, Latino, White, Asian, etc. Usually a good, aggressive game. Not without the trash talking, but that just makes it interesting.

Over the years I've had some good runs at Dolores Park.  The problem is that those runs are few and far between.  It's usually thug ball, and there can be some pretty bad dudes stirring up trouble. I was running up there last Sunday.  I actually had a decent team.  We blew out the first team we played, in part because I was the biggest guy on the court and the other team couldn't handle me on the glass.  The next team had three hard core thugs on their squad.  They were older guys, probably mid thirties, shaved heads and tattoos all of them.  They were not ballers, but they were clearly pretty tough guys.  I heard them talking as they got on the court that they were going to knock me around a little bit, and that "we gotta slow big man down." Whatever, basketball gets physical and most folks who play are used to that.  So we start running.  One of the thugs makes a series of awful calls - not against me - but against folks on my team, and it makes it clear that he's a punk who's prep... I have recently moved to the area, and have played at Dolores about a half dozen times recently. While the attendance is spotty, we've had some good games when we can get enough people. So far, the rough characters have stayed on the other side of the fence. If you are looking for a regular game, try Thursday evenings around 5:30, and maybe we can get a regular game going.

Man, these two dudes on the 40+ team looked like that guy from the Drew Carey show. The tall, skinny, bird-looking guy. They cracked me up. At any rate the games I've been in at Dolores haven't been to intense. Pretty fun; a variety of skill levels.

trash talk, selfish bad players, violence. stay away. two or three regulars ruin every game.

It can get amazingly windy, the rims are tight and something less than kind. The players are a mish mash of hoops tourists and serious ballers but good games do happen. With the time change looming it's a good place to get a night game in during the week.

Enclosed by a 15 foot fence... This court may require more shielding from the wind... Run usually has "bandit" regulars that look like they cannot play but won't think twice about running you off the court. While the games are not the most graceful and "team play" is not an easily learned concept... This run will satisfy your needs for exercise. Besides your ability automatically jumps a level on this court... If you want to see if your game makes others around you better then head to Delorres Park and give it a shot!

Run is not as consistent and the court seems to have a lot of wind.
